Love Is Blind contestant Tran Dang has hit production companies Kinetic Content and Delirium TV with a sexual assault, false imprisonment and negligence lawsuit, claims the companies and the show’s creator are pushing back against.
Claiming she was “aggressively recruited” to appear on the hit Netflix reality series and “intentionally sequestered for two weeks” in the show’s pods by producers, Dang’s complaint alleges she was attacked by her then on-screen fiancé Thomas Smith on May 3, 2022 while in Mexico shooting Love Is Blind’s fifth season. The filing from Houston law firm Wallace & Allen Llp details that “due to Delirium TV and Kinetic Content’s 24-hour surveillance of Plaintiff and Defendant Smith, most if not all of these traumatic acts were filmed by the production crew and within their knowledge.”

Despite getting engaged on “Love Is Blind” Season 5, there’s a reason Tran Dang and her former fiancé Thomas Smith do not appear in the Netflix series: Dang is suing the dating reality series’ production companies Kinetic Content and Delirium TV, citing sexual assault, false imprisonment and negligence.
In a joint statement received by TheWrap, both companies stated, “We support and stand with victims of sexual assault, but Ms. Dang’s claims against the producers are meritless.”
“We document the independent choices of adults who volunteer to participate in a social experiment. Their journey is not scripted, nor is it filmed around the clock,” the statement read. “We have no knowledge or control over what occurs in private living spaces when not filming, and participants may choose to end their journey at any time.”
“We take any and all concerns of our participants seriously and prioritize their well-being,” they continued.

Composer Danny Elfman may best be known for his work on cult classics like Batman, Good Will Hunting, Edward Scissorhands and The Nightmare Before Christmas. But at the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra’s annual gala and fundraiser on Saturday, the industry titan was given a special nod for his prolific body of work both on and beyond the screen as the evening’s honoree.
That Elfman’s pieces have honored both the legacy of film and classical composition was a complement to Laco itself, which was formed in 1968 to encourage classically trained studio musicians not to “drift too far away from the classical repertoire, the concert hall and recording and playing new concert music from contemporary composers,” previous gala honoree and composer James Newton Howard (The Fugitive, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Hunger Games) said in remarks ahead of presenting Elfman with the award.

The California Senate on Tuesday approved a bill that encourages film and TV productions to diversify the entertainment workforce.
The bill creates an incentive for productions to hire the graduates of a new training program. The program, called the Career Pathways Training Program, is expected to launch in the coming year, with the aim of bringing in film workers from underrepresented communities.
The bill, Sb 611, has the support of Hollywood studios and labor groups. It passed 39-0, and now heads to the Assembly.
“Everybody would like to see more diversity in Hollywood,” said the bill’s author, Sen. Ben Allen. “This is ultimately about democratizing TV and film production. We know there’s incredibly talented young people from lots of different backgrounds.”
The California Film Commission reported demographic data last December for projects funded by the state tax credit from 2015-20. The data showed just 13% of workers in the industry were Latino,...

The Season 19 finale of The Voice shouldn’t have been suspenseful. Like, at all. Based on your enthusiastic support of Team Gwen Stefani’s junior achiever Carter Rubin in the polls that have followed our recaps, he had the victory in the bag. A nice one, even, with tissue paper and a bow.
But, as we know all too well, the results of TVLine polls don’t necessarily reflect the preferences of the NBC sing-off’s audience as a whole. We also couldn’t underestimate The Blake Shelton Effect — by which a contestant leapfrogs to the front of the pack...

Is a long-standing “The Voice” curse about to be broken? If Blake Shelton‘s country singer Ian Flanigan ends up winning Season 19 during next week’s finale, he’ll make history as the first artist to prevail who was previously saved by Twitter. Since the instant save twist was first created in Season 6, no recipient has ever gone on to win “The Voice.” Britton Buchanan (Season 14) and Toneisha Harris (Season 18) came closest by each placing second behind their winners, but all of the other times the saved artist finished last in their respective finales.

In advance of the Top 9 performing on December 7, we polled viewers of “The Voice” for their predictions of who would win season 19. Their first choice in our best to worst rankings is Carter Rubin, who has racked up an impressive 23% of the total tally as of this writing. He is on Team Gwen Stefani. A victory by him would give this No Doubt lead singer her first win after five seasons as a coach.
Close behind with 19% is Ian Flanigan, who is being coached by Gwen’s guy, Blake Shelton. This country music superstar has been with the show from the start and has racked up a staggering seven wins.

I’ve had it, people. Seriously. After The Voice coach John Legend chose Bailey Rae over Sid Kingsley in the Battles, I thought I’d had it, but I hadn’t. Now I have. In Tuesday’s final episode of the Knockouts, Kelly Clarkson made a decision that was so boneheaded and backassward, I… I seriously can’t. I’m not just annoyed, I’m flippin’ ticked. Now that “The Voice” blind auditions, battles and knockouts are behind us, Gwen Stefani‘s team consists of exactly four artists heading into the Season 19 live shows. (A potential fifth artist depends on who America votes for to win the four-way knockout.) Stefani has been a dependable coach on “The Voice” through the years, sitting on the panel in Seasons 7, 9, 12, 17 and now 19. Even though the rock star has yet to take an artist across the finish line, she’s found happiness in other ways as the girlfriend of “King” Blake.

Last week on “The Voice,” the knockout rounds commenced with two artists getting sent home: Casmè for Team John Legend and Ryan Berg for Team Gwen Stefani. That left 26 artists still in the running to win the Season 19 championship, with many more about to be eliminated during Monday’s two-hour episode. Gwen was the only coach to use her last save of the season (on country singer Ben Allen), which meant John, Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton still had the power to swoop in and save an at-risk contestant before the all-important live shows. The Voice Recap: As the Knockouts Began, Two Contestants Sang What Turned Out to Be Their Swan Songs
The Voice’s coaches could feel their power slipping through their fingers in Tuesday’s kickoff of Season 19’s Knockouts. After this round is over, the fates of the contestants would be in the audience’s hands. So Blake Shelton, for one, was going to savor his last chance to “make the decisions that make the difference — whatever that means.” In his case, it meant making a boneheaded choice that might ultimately have helped significant other Gwen Stefani take another big step toward her first win as a coach. Read on, and I’ll explain how.

The blind auditions and the battles are a thing of the past, which means it’s now time for the knockouts on “The Voice.” In this round each coach pairs up two artists who’ll then perform their own songs on the big stage. One artist survives, the other is eliminated … unless a rival coach “steals” them for their own team. This year’s mega mentor was Usher, a former coach who prevailed in Season 6 with Josh Kaufman. Heading into the knockouts for Season 19, each coach had seven artists still on their teams:
Team Blake Shelton: Ben Allen, Ian Flanigan, Jim Ranger, Jus Jon, Worth the Wait, James Pyle (stolen) and Taryn Papa (saved).
