When Drake and Kendrick Lamar decided to go at each other, we knew that there was a chance for low blows; we just didn’t know we’d end up subterranean. The four tracks they exchanged on May 3 and 4 — Kendrick’s “Meet the Grahams” and “Not Like Us,” as well as Drake’s “Family Matters” and “The Heart Pt. 6” — have taken their rift into a dark place. Drake is calling Kendrick a domestic abuser, and Kendrick is calling Drake a pedophile. Now, we’re wondering how a war that was...

Megan Thee Stallion says she navigated “dark times” after being shot by Tory Lanez in 2020, offering new insight this week into her recovery from the assault.
“As a Black woman, as a darker Black woman, I also feel like people expect me to take the punches, take the beating, take the lashings, and handle it with grace,” Stallion told Women’s Health. “But I’m human.”
In December 2022, Lanez was convicted of three felonies for shooting Megan, including assault with a semiautomatic firearm that left the hip-hop star with bullet fragments in her feet. During the trial, Megan faced backlash from fans and fellow artists who questioned the validity of her version of the story.
“A lot of people didn’t treat me like I was human for a long time,” Stallion recalled of the vitriol. “I feel like everybody was always used to me being the fun and happy party girl.

Drake compels the masses like a seasoned advertising director. He knows sharing something as simple as a new hairdo will strangle social media for days on end. So when he called for Tory Lanez’s freedom on his Instagram story, he knew it would garner similar visibility as activists screaming “Free Meek Mill” from the streets of Philadelphia. On Monday, Drake posted a picture of Tory and “3 You,” a version of “Free You” where the three were set to represent open handcuffs.

Grammy award-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion released a new track titled “Hiss” on January 26. Since its release, fans and commentators alike have noted the lyrics appear to be disses of fellow rapper Nicki Minaj.
“These h–s don’t be mad at Megan, these h–s mad at Megan’s Law.”
Megan’s Law is a federal law that requires information about registered sex offenders to be accessible to the public. This line in Megan’s song appears to be a reference to Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, who is a convicted and registered sex offender.
In response to the song, Minaj went on Instagram Live, showing a snippet of a new unreleased song dissing back at Megan.

Nicki Minaj expressed displeasure with Megan Thee Stallion’s latest song, Hiss by releasing a diss track of her own.
In the song, Megan seems to target Nicki’s husband, Kenneth Petty, a registered sex offender when she rapped a line about Megan’s Law, which mandates information disclosure about registered sex offenders by law enforcement.
“These hoes don’t be mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan’s Law/ I don’t really know what the problem is, but I guarantee y’all don’t want me to start,” she said on the new song, continuing:

Following the release of the song on January 26, Nicki Minaj went on Instagram Live to give a sneak peek of an unreleased track responding to Megan.

Fugees’ Pras Michel is seeking a new trial in his federal conspiracy case, claiming that his former attorney is responsible for “ineffective representation,” which included using an AI program to write his closing argument.
The motion for a new trial was filed by Michel’s new legal team on Monday, October 16th. Among the allegations put forth by the motion against Michel’s previous lawyer, David Kenner, is a claim that Kenner “used an experimental artificial intelligence (AI) program to draft the closing argument, ignoring the best arguments and conflating the charged schemes, and he then publicly boasted that the AI program ‘turned hours or days of legal work into seconds’” (per Rolling Stone).
Further, the motion alleges that Kenner had “an undisclosed financial stake” in the AI program, and the usage of the program for Michel’s trial was done “so they could issue a press release afterward promoting...

Tory Lanez’s bail motion was denied by a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge.
Lanez is currently facing a ten-year prison sentence for shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, asked the judge to be released on bail so he could live with his family, particularly his wife and child, while working on his appeal.
Judge David Herriford has since denied that motion. Herriford cited Lanez’s conviction for a violent felony, history of violating court orders, and foreign citizenship as reasons to reject the appeal.
In a statement, Lanez’s attorney, Matthew Barhoma, commented, “The outcome on this motion (and case) is a miscarriage of justice. Simply put, Daystar Peterson is a trademark applicant for bond on appeal. He is not a flight risk, poses essentially no danger to society, and has strong merit-based arguments on appeal.”

Tory Lanez has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in his felony assault trial for shooting Megan Thee Stallion. On Tuesday, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David Herriford handed down the sentence seven months after Lanez was convicted on three counts at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center.
The rapper’s sentencing is 3 years less than the 13 years prosecutors recommended Lanez be sentenced back in June. His attorneys asked that the 31-year-old be sentenced to probation or three years in prison, acknowledging that, legally, Lanez is presumed ineligible for probation, but said his case is so unusual it should warrant an exception.
Lanez has 60 days to file his notice of appeal.
The rapper — born Daystar Peterson — has been in jail since Dec. 23, 2022, when a jury convicted him of first-degree assault, discharge of a firearm with gross negligence and having a concealed and unregistered firearm in a vehicle. He maintains his innocence.
