“World of Dance” loves its second chances this season. First the show introduced a redemption dance to its Duels round, giving the highest-scoring eliminated acts a chance to come back. Then during the Divisional Final we learned that the judges could decide to send through one eliminated act to the World Final as a wild card pick. The judges didn’t reveal their choice at the end of last Sunday’s episode, but our users think Unity La will get that spot. Could they win the whole thing too?
Fans have been making their “World of Dance” finale forecasts since last weekend here in our predictions center, and they give the contemporary troupe Unity La leading odds of 2/3 based on those combined forecasts. And it’s not hard to see why. Unity La had the misfortune of going up against The Kings, who have been juggernauts all season, outscoring all...

The end is near! Twelve contestants went into the “World of Dance” Divisional Final, but only four came out. So who will represent the Upper Division, Upper Team Division, Junior Division and Junior Team Division next week in the World Final for a chance at the million-dollar grand prize? Find out below in our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.
The three acts who survived the Cut in each division now face off one last time to decide the division champs. The Upper Team Division has been the most competitive field all season. The hip-hop crews The Kings and The Heima, and the contemporary troupe Unity La have higher season-long averages than any other contestants in any other division. But “World of Dance” fans we’ve polled in our predictions center thought The Kings would have the Divisional Final in the bag. Were they right?

The contemporary duo Derion and Madison have made it to the Divisional Final on “World of Dance” along with their Upper Division rivals Briar Nolet and Poppin John. That was thanks to the big score they earned during the Cut. But they took a chance when they presented their routine on the show. As you can see from the behind-the-scenes rehearsal footage above, they had a different ending in mind from the one they showed the judges.
“We all know the experience of being in a relationship that you don’t know why you’re staying,” Derion explained about the meaning of the dance. That’s evident in the passionate push-and-pull through their performance set to The Weeknd‘s “Call Out My Name,” but the routine originally ended with Derion making a flying leap over Madison, missing her as she ducks out of the way. When they brought that routine before the judges,...

The Upper Division consists of acts aged 18 and over with up to four members, and the three who advanced to the Divisional Final from this crop include two contemporary acts (Briar Nolet and Derion and Madison) and one hip-hop performer (Poppin John). But this field has been in flux all season, so the door is wide open for...

When veteran dancer Poppin John started this season on “World of Dance,” he seemed like a long-shot contender. He was older than most: 34-years-old, which is geriatric by competitive dance standards. And his dance style was subtle, which disadvantaged him against the high-flying stunts of many of his competitors. But his performance during the Cut proved that we shouldn’t have doubted him. Watch it above.
Poppin John came awfully close to being eliminated after his very first performance. He barely escaped the Qualifiers with his average score of 85.3, which included a score of 84 from Ne-Yo that would have knocked him out on the spot if Jennifer Lopez and Derek Hough hadn’t scored him a little higher. As a result, he was an underdog going into the Duels, but he pulled off an upset against his head-to-head competitors Dd Flection. And he decided to surprise us again in the Cut.

The “World of Dance” competitors made it through both the Qualifiers and the Duels, so it’s time for the third round of competition, the Cut, which is aptly named because it chops the remaining field in half: six acts go in, but only three come out in each division. So who survived when the Upper Division and Junior Team Division went through this unforgiving dance gauntlet? Find out below in our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.
The Upper Division comprises acts aged 18 and over with up to four members, and the contestants reached this stage were popping legend Poppin John, the hip-hop/Latin fusion duo All Ready, the same-sex salsa pair Jonathan y Jorge, the tap-dancing D’Angelo Brothers, and contemporary acts Briar Nolet and Derion and Madison.

Fans don’t get a vote on “World of Dance,” the NBC competition series that is pre-recorded and decided only by the trio of judges: Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough and Ne-Yo. But if they did get a vote, I have a feeling Briar Nolet would be hard to beat. After she performed during the Qualifiers, she was the overwhelming favorite of the readers we polled. And she was even more dominant in our poll following the Duels, even though she barely made it to the next round. So why haven’t the judges’ scores kept up with the audience response? Scroll down for our poll results at the bottom of this post.

“World of Dance” judge Ne-Yo warned us when he said that there are no underdogs on this show because everyone is world class, but even then it’s hard to imagine a surprise like we saw on Sunday night in the Duels. Coming out of the Qualifiers, the top four highest scoring acts in the Upper Division were Tobias and the EZTwins, Dd Flection, Derek Piquette and Denise and Josh. But when the Duels were over all four were eliminated while the bottom six moved on to the next round. What does that mean for the next three divisions?
The scores from the Qualifiers didn’t carry over to the Duels, but the highest scoring acts from the first round had a distinct advantage: they got to pick their opponents. You’d think they would have picked opponents they could beat, and perhaps they thought they did. But one by one the front-runners went down.

At age 34, Poppin John is an old man by competitive dance standards. But he’s one of the best known contestants in season three of “World of Dance,” having accumulated millions of views on YouTube for his popping animation. But is he still competitive at this level? Watch his Duels routine above and decide for yourself.
Poppin John came into the Duels with a lot to prove. He made it through the Qualifiers, but just barely. He squeaked through with an average judges’ score of 85.3, just three-tenths of a point above the 85-point threshold needed to advance. What’s more, he was challenged to this Duel by Dd Flection, the second highest scoring Upper Division act from the Qualifiers and the champions of “World of Dance” in Thailand. Though Dd Flection are a contemporary duo, they were inspired by Poppin John’s hip-hop style, which was part of why they chose him to compete against.

After three weeks of Qualifiers on “World of Dance,” the competition has now advanced to the Duels. This single elimination round pits contestants in each division against each other: whoever wins moves on to the next round, and whoever loses is sent home on the spot … or maybe not. This year there’s a brand new twist in the Duels. For the first time, competitors who are eliminated may have a chance for redemption. So who moved forward in this grueling round, and who was left behind? Find out below in our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.
Because the Duels are a head-to-head round, your chances of success are only as good as who you’re up against. So a performer could theoretically win with a score of 81 if their opponent gets an 80, while another performer could lose with a score of 99 if their opponent...
