Born in Harrow, England in 1977 Ben Flynn was drawn to both art and computers from a very early age. He gained a foundation in photography and a degree in FIne Art and Sculpture with his final pieces being photographs of sculptures created within his computer. After graduating he founded Stark Imaging whilst continuing post-graduate study of the latest technology in the field. His ability to learn and adapt to new programs proved so rapid that by the second term he was often teaching the class.
In 2001 he joined Rebellion working on computer games based on characters and stories from legendary British comic 2000AD. His first game "Judge Dredd" was nominated for a BAFTA and his second "Rogue Trooper" earnt 2 BAFTA nominations including a personal nomination for Best Character. It was here he first developed his skills as a Lead Character Artist, Lead Artist, Motion Capture Director, object and environmental artist, HUD and graphic artist, as well as experience in graphic design and vector graphics that he would continue to develop throughout his career.
He later joined Ninja Theory and then RockSteady, specialising more as a Lead Character Artist although also increasingly valued for his programming and tech development. Each successive game earnt multiple award nominations with his final game "Batman: Arkham Knight" winning BAFTA's for Artistic Achievement and Best Game.
In 2015 Ben moved from games to film, joining Industrial Light and Magic in London when they became aware of both his art and his work on next-gen motion capture. He has since been involved in three Star Wars films as well as additional technical development projects.
Ben has also lectured at British universities and at professional events both in the UK and internationally.
