Ever since its debut in 1969, Scooby-Doo has become one of the most treasured cartoons ever. From its unique narrative to iconic storylines, the cartoon show has spanned several episodes, series, movies, toys, games, and many more, with its characters and mythos a permanent part of popular culture.
The Scooby-Doo Gang
Even though there are several cartoons and animated series that enjoy similar popularity, what makes the adventures of Scooby-Doo and his friends is the countless crossovers they have had. From The Dark Knight to the Justice League and even Jensen Ackles’s Supernatural, the characters have had many memorable crossovers. But perhaps the best one was when they collaborated with WWE starring John Cena for an epic WrestleMania mystery.

James Gunn didn’t take long to decide on his new Supergirl as The Wrap reports that House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock is now in talks to take on the role.
It’s expected that Supergirl will make her debut in a future Dcu project, and while it’s been assumed that the project will be Superman: Legacy, it could easily be something else. Milly Alcock will then take on the leading role in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. THR adds that the movie could start shooting as early as this fall, assuming Warner Bros. is able to sign a director soon.
Milly Alcock was first reported to be up for the role earlier this month alongside Emilia Jones (Locke & Key), and Meg Donnelly (The Winchesters). Just last week, it was revealed that the list had been narrowed down to Alcock and Donnelly. Hollywood works fast… sometimes. Gunn confirmed the news on Instagram,...

According to THR, screen tests for the role of Supergirl took place yesterday, with sources saying that the casting has been narrowed down to Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) and Meg Donnelly (The Winchesters).
DC Studios’ James Gunn and Peter Safran were said to be present for the Supergirl testing. The character is expected to be introduced in Superman: Legacy before taking the lead in her own movie, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Milly Alcock and Meg Donnelly were first mentioned as contenders for the Supergirl role two weeks ago, along with Emilia Jones (Locke & Key).

According to Deadline, DC Studios are preparing to begin the testing process for the role of Supergirl in the DC Universe. In the mix are Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon), Emilia Jones (Locke & Key), and Meg Donnelly (The Winchesters).
Deadline’s report states that the Supergirl testing will take place sometime in the next month, with James Gunn definitely playing a part in the process. The character is set to take the lead of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, but there’s the chance she could make an appearance in another DC project, which is why the studio wants to sign an actress sooner rather than later. We all know how this process goes, so take this all with a grain of salt; while these actresses could wind up testing for the role, it could easily land in someone else’s lap.

Update Saturday: The Winchesters executive producer Jensen Ackles weighed in on the series officially ending after no new network home could be found.
“With a massive Network shift coupled with an industry strike…welp…that’s some unfortunate timing,” he said on Twitter, thanking fans who rallied to try and save the show following its cancellation by the CW.
Previous Friday: The Supernatural franchise is coming to end — at least for now — as The Winchesters has not been able to get a second season anywhere. Producing studio Warner Bros. Television’s efforts to set up the Supernatural prequel series at another network or streaming platform following its cancellation by the CW have been unsuccessful. All possible avenues have been exhausted, and the search for a new home has come to an end, despite a strong #SaveTheWinchesters campaign led by series executive producer (and Supernatural star) Jensen Ackles.

The CW has opted not to pick up a second season of The Winchesters. The news is not surprising; the Supernatural prequel was among the long-shot renewal prospects at the network under its new ownership as it focuses on unscripted and lower-cost scripted programming (primarily international acquisitions/co-productions) in pursuit of profitability.
So far, only the CW’s strongest existing scripted series, All American and Walker, have been renewed for next season. The three least likely, The Winchesters, Kung Fu and Walker Independence, have been canceled. Remaining in limbo are Superman & Lois and All American: Homecoming, which are believed to have the best chance (however small it may be), followed by Gotham Knights.

Teamwork makes the dream work, even when it's just two people, but sometimes that's the key.
There were many iconic pairs on TV in 2022; whether it'd be hunting a monster or trying to save someone in the operating room, there were many dynamic duos.
It may be the end of the year, but there is a lot more to come with these great pairs.
These TV dynamic duos caught the hearts of TV Fanatic writers for 2022!
John Winchester and Mary Campbell (The Winchesters)
John and Mary's relationship is inevitable, as fans of Supernatural know, but their story on The Winchesters is much bigger.
They are the definition of "opposites attract," as Mary is a hunter and John is a soldier, but it's why they work so well together.
Even though they've known each other for a short time, they still open up to each other like never before while also kicking monster butt.

Saving people, hunting things, and tracking down a missing father? Although "The Winchesters" makes many much-appreciated changes to the DNA of "Supernatural," the prequel still shares plenty in common with its predecessor. So why not multiply the fun with the addition of some familiar faces?
Set in the '70s, "The Winchesters" follows John Winchester (Drake Rodger) and Mary Campbell (Meg Donnelly) as they work to uncover their parents' mysterious past. Their story may take place decades before the events of "Supernatural," but what kind of prequel doesn't find an excuse to throw in some blasts from the past? This world is basically built for these kinds of weird, inexplicable circumstances!
The writers have magic, time travel, and God at their disposal — all of which are great ways to explain how a character from the distant future can appear in this prequel. And based on the words of showrunner Robbie Thompson,...

The Winchesters is adding another familiar face for fans of Supernatural.
The prequel series has locked in Gil McKinney for an upcoming episode of the freshman drama, TV Line reports.
If you watch Supernatural online, you know McKinney portrayed Dean and Sam's paternal grandfather Henry Winchester.
McKinney read a letter that Henry wrote him on The Winchesters Season 1 Episode 1, which premiered earlier this week as The CW's most-watched series debut of the season.
Henry is described as “the intellectual patriarch of the Winchester clan."
“Having come from a long line of Men of Letters, Henry fully dedicated his life to the institution," reads the description.
"However, when a Men of Letters’ mission leads to Henry’s untimely death, his absence and the secrecy surrounding his life inside the organization creates an unrepairable rift in his family."

Ghosts, vampires, and werewolves are old news. Nowadays, if you've got plans for a supernatural saga with a "monster of the week" format, then you better have creativity on your side because a deep-dive into the wide world of folklore is an absolute must.
When the series first began in 2005, "Supernatural" welcomed this challenge, happily digging deep to tell the story of two brothers traveling across America to face off against not-so-mythological creatures. This meant everything from tricksters and changelings to grim reapers and hellhounds. For the initial five seasons that series creator Eric Kripke had planned, it was a brilliant opportunity to explore some lesser-known lore. But if you've heard tell of this long-running show, then you probably know that it didn't end with five seasons. "Supernatural" went on for a whopping 15 seasons.
Across 327 episodes, it really feels like Sam and Dean Winchester faced off against every monster there is.

At long last, a "Supernatural" spin-off is on its way to fill the void that those monster-hunting brothers left behind. Across its triumphant 15-season run, many attempts were made to develop a spin-off and explore the world of supernatural monster hunters, but only one has actually survived beyond its pilot: "The Winchesters."
Stop me if this sounds familiar, but the story begins with Mary Campbell, a hunter who's been fighting the forces of darkness since she was old enough to wield a knife. Now she's embarking on a hunt like no other, following breadcrumbs to solve the mystery of her missing father, who never returned from a hunting trip. Mary, an experienced hunter herself, decides to take matters into her own hands and follow his tracks to figure out the details of his case. “The Winchesters” is an interesting “Supernatual” spinoff choice, because not only is it spinning off established characters like “Wayward Sisters” (its second spinoff pilot that didn’t go to series) had attempted to, it’s creating a new world with established characters whose very canon that this show is tackling was already established in “Supernatural.” Because “The Winchesters” isn’t just a spinoff, it’s a prequel: about how John Winchester (Drake Rodger) and Mary Campbell (Meg Donnelly), father and mother to “Supernatural’s” Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) Winchester, met and fell in love. The story of John and Mary was told multiple times over the course of that show’s 15 seasons, thanks to the magic of time travel and flashbacks — and, well, magic. But most important, what was established about John and Mary was the fact that while Mary came from a monster-hunting family, she got...

This The Winchesters article contains no spoilers but does mention plot details featured in the series trailer.
As the longest American live-action fantasy series, Supernatural lasted a whopping 15 seasons before it finally came to a dramatic close in 2020. But, in the 15 years it was running, it failed to successfully spawn any spinoffs.
Two backdoor pilots were filmed, one in season nine entitled Bloodlines with the intention of beginning a Chicago set series revolving around a Mafia-like war between powerful supernatural families. But with no established characters appearing, a dramatically different vibe and, well, a terrible script, the pilot fell flat and the episode often appears in lists of the worst Supernatural episodes ever aired. The second backdoor pilot, entitled Wayward Sisters, was aired in the thirteenth season of the show, and despite featuring fan favorites like Jody Mills, it also failed to transition into a fully fledged show.

Tom Welling will be pulling double duty on The CW this fall.

Welling is best known for playing Clark Kent on The WB/CW's Smallville.
According to TV Line, the actor will play Samuel Campbell. If you watch Supernatural online, you know Mitch Pileggi originated the role on the original series.
The Winchesters is a prequel that tells the story of John and Mary Winchester, so it makes sense to have Mary's father (Samuel) as a part of the cast.
