- Hollie Buhagiar is an award-winning Gibraltarian composer based in London, who specialises in crafting bespoke scores for film, TV and Games. She has worked on a plethora of projects for both short and feature length films alongside Grammy and Academy Award winning engineers in the finest studios across London.
Graduating from Leeds College of Music with a first-class honours in Music production, Hollie continued on to complete a Masters at the National Film and Television School.
Throughout her career she has been hailed for her unique and varied sonic palette as well as her ability to create fascinating scores that approach traditional composition from a new and exciting perspective.
Hollie's experience spans worldwide and includes work for the likes of Amazon, Channel 4, BFI, NOWNESS, Creative England, Tate, The Guardian, Film London and BBC. Her projects have received critical acclaim winning various prestigious awards, these include a Porsche Award, a Gold British Arrow and the McLaren Award for Best British Animation, as well as being a two time Unity Awards nominee. One of her works 'Poles Apart' won the 2018 British Short Animation BAFTA, she also won the 2018 Best Composer award after holding three nominations at the Underwire Film Festival and was nominated for the 2018 Best Sound Design Offie Award with her theatre debut in 'Collective Rage: A Play in Five Betties'. 2022 thus far has seen Hollie score a Netflix Original, the three-part BritBox series 'Extinction Rebellion: For Life', 'UNFAIR' a Comedy Pilot with Channel 4 and 'Sandstorm' the first short Pakistani Film ever to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. She further scored the documentary feature 'Women Behind The Wheel' that premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and 'Conscientious Protectors' a documentary feature that has its premiere at BFI Southbank and later screened across select ODEON cinemas worldwide. Hollie has just completed scoring the fiction feature 'To A Cinder' alongside fellow BAFTA Crew and Connect members and is currently scoring the comedy feature 'Lady Parts' and is writing her debut solo album. She had the great fortune of recently taking home the award for Best Original Composition at 6ix Screams International film Festival, as well as receiving two nominations and a special mention at the UVF Festival for Best Score, further nominations this year include the Best Composer Award at the Underwire Film Festival and Gibraltar's annual Cultural Award for creative excellence.
Hollie's recent works also include the fiction thriller 'CRADLED ' for Channel 4's BAFTA-nominated Anthology Series 'On The Edge'. The investigative documentary feature 'Finding Thule' , a six-part unscripted TV show for NBC and Sky Sports, a commercial series with VICE, 'Black Birth' a documentary supported by the Tribeca film Festival and Queen Latifah and 'Bug Therapy' an animated film directed by Jason Reisig (Smallfoot), featuring the voices of Dr Phil, Jay Leno, Meghan Trainor and Sterling K. Brown to name but a few.

In 2020 she took home the Gold for Best Music Track at the LA Motion Picture Festival, the Best Music Award at the Top Indie Awards, and a nomination for Best Music at the UK Fashion Film Festival. She was also awarded the 2018 Best Composer Award at the Underwire Film Festival after having received a total of five nominations across two years and was further nominated for the 2018 Best Sound Design Offie Award with her theatre debut in 'Collective Rage: A Play in Five Betties'.
Aside from this, Hollie is an extremely accomplished session vocalist having worked on everything from prime time television shows to worldwide advertising campaigns and beyond, the most recent of which being seasons eleven, twelve and thirteen of BBC's 'Doctor Who 'as well as their first season of 'I Can See Your Voice' . She has worked on various feature films, ad campaigns, trailers and shows for ITV, Sky Cinema and Netflix. Her vocal work can currently be heard across cinemas in the UK and she has recorded for two BAFTA winning films.
Hollie believes strongly in representation and educating future generations on the film and music industries, she often lends her time to institutes and programmes in support of this and is very open to collaborations.
