Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray director Jaume Collet-Serra’s (Unknown, Orphan) new film The Shallows (2016), starring Blake Lively, Óscar Jaenada, Brett Cullen, and Sedona Legge. The two releases will be available for purchase on September 27.
Official synopsis: In the taut thriller The Shallows, Nancy (Blake Lively) is surfing alone on a secluded beach when she is attacked by a great white shark and stranded just a short distance from shore. Though she is only 200 yards from her survival, getting there proves the ultimate contest of wills. It’s Jaws for a new generation.
Special Features:
Four Featurettes:
Shooting in The Shallows
How to Build a Shark
Finding The Perfect Beach: Lord Howe Island
When Sharks Attack
Deleted Scenes
4K Blu-ray Technical Specs:
Audio
Dolby Atmos (Dolby TrueHD 7.1 compatible)
Multiple subtitle options
My review of The Shallows:
Economic and immersive,...

Identity crisis. Airplane hijinks. Killer sharks. Is there a common thread here? “All my movies have a concept,” director Jaume Collet-Serra recently explained to IndieWire when asked about how his latest film, “The Shallows,” fits into his oeuvre of thrillers like “Non-Stop” and “Unknown.”
This time around, however, the Catalan filmmaker had much bigger fish to fry than “it takes place all in one night” or “everything happens on a plane,” as the Blake Lively-starring nail-biter features a single beach-set location, a compressed timeline and a giant, very angry shark.
Set entirely on a secluded beach in Mexico, “The Shallows” stars Blake Lively as the resourceful Nancy, who has sought out the isolated surf spot because it’s the place that her recently deceased mother loved when she was younger. What starts as a personal pilgrimage swiftly becomes a bloody fight for survival when a rogue shark attacks Nancy,...

What was once in the deep is now in the shallows. Sony has released a new trailer for Jaume Collet-Serra's shark thriller The Shallows, starring Blake Lively as a surfer who gets caught on a small rock while out surfing from a remote beach, with a giant great white shark on the prowl. We've seen a few shark thrillers recently, like Open Water, but this one still tries to be unique and includes a very gnarly shark - which you'll see plenty of in this trailer. The cast includes Óscar Jaenada and Sedona Legge. This is one of those trailers that shows a lot of the movie, so if you don't want this mostly revealed, then stay away. Otherwise - this seems like it will still be a thrilling experience to watch on the big screen. That shark! What a meanie. Here's the new full-length trailer for Jaume Collet-Serra's The Shallows,...

Sharks seem to have gotten a bad rap in Hollywood. Believe it or not, not all sharks are evil killing machines hell-bent on consuming every human that gets in the water. But they’re big and fast and have huge teeth and creepy eyes, so they’re the perfect movie monster. We get it.
A new trailer was just released for Blake Lively’s latest movie, The Shallows. We saw a teaser a few weeks back, but this full-length trailer really amps up the intensity. The plot follows Nancy (Lively), who sets out on a surfing trip alone. As per usual for lone surfers in movies, she gets attacked by a Great White and narrowly escapes death. The catch? She’s stranded on a rock just 200 metres from shore, and the shark doesn’t seem too keen on letting her touch dry land.
The Shallows seems to mostly be a one-woman thriller a la Gravity,...
