- She would not have been entitled to a princely title and "Royal Highness" style at birth, as the letters patent in effect (not anticipating four generations being alive) only gave such a status to the oldest son of the Prince of Wales' oldest son. Her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II issued new letters patent giving her the style.
- Because she is the only daughter of Prince William, and her grandfather King Charles has no daughters, she is expected to be the next Princess Royal, the title customarily awarded to the oldest daughter of the monarch and the highest title that can be given to a female royal, which was last bestowed on Princess Anne in 1987.
- She is the second royal to bear the name Princess Charlotte of Wales. The first, born in 1796, was the only child of George, Prince of Wales (later King George IV), and she would have become queen of the United Kingdom had she not predeceased her father and grandfather George III, but she died in 1817 at age 21 from childbirth complications after giving birth to a stillborn son.
- Due to the passage of the Succession to the Crown Act 2013, which established absolute primogeniture for the British throne, she became the first princess to not be superseded in the line of succession by the birth of a younger brother.
