The thriller The Woman in the Yard, which is coming our way from Blumhouse Productions, Universal Pictures, and director Jaume Collet-Serra, was once set to reach theatres on January 10, 2025, but it was recently bumped off the Universal release slate entirely to make room for another Blumhouse / Universal collaboration, the Wolf Man reboot directed by Leigh Whannell. (Wolf Man is now scheduled for a January 17 release.) The release date shake-up isn’t slowing down The Woman in the Yard‘s momentum, though. Deadline reports that the project has just added another cast member: Russell Hornsby of The Hate U Give and Fences.
Hornsby joins the previously announced Danielle Deadwyler of The Devil to Pay and Till in the cast. Okwui Okpokwasili of The Exorcist: Believer and I Am Legend is also in there.

Blumhouse Productions and The Invisible Man (2020) director Leigh Whannell are bringing us another reboot of a classic Universal Pictures property with Wolf Man, which had the perfect release date: October 25th, delivering werewolf action to the big screen just in time for Halloween. But Wolf Man only just started filming earlier this month, and the filmmakers clearly feel that they need more than seven months to get it ready for theatres. The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Wolf Man‘s release has been delayed, pushed back to January 17, 2025. The studio already had another Blumhouse project scheduled for a January 10th release, the Jaume Collet-Serra / Danielle Deadwyler thriller The Woman in the Yard… but with Wolf Man moving to January, The Woman in the Yard has been bumped off the schedule entirely. We’ll have to wait and see when Universal will decide to release that one.

The board of Mediapro has voted to have co-founder Jaume Roures step down as Managing Partner of the Spanish content giant, with Taxto Benet remaining in post as President and CEO.
According to a statement released a few moments ago, the company’s directors approved a request from majority shareholders for the “disassociation” of Roures, who is one of Spanish media’s biggest and most influential characters.
Besides helping establish Mediapro as a major Spanish drama producer and distributor behind the likes of Movistar+ series The Head, Roures has been a key figure in the growth of Spain’s La Liga soccer league. He and Benet have pushed the division to grow its revenues from €150M ($158.5M) in the 2009-2010 season to over €700M in 2021-2022.
“The void that Jaume leaves in the group is immense, and from a personal standpoint, I will deeply miss these wonderful decades of working together,...

"Black Adam" features the long-awaited debut of Dwayne Johnson in the superhero genre, but he is not the only person that makes the latest Dcu movie so exciting. For the first time, the Justice Society of America makes its way to the big screen alongside the titular anti-hero. DC's very first superhero team is already winning people over, especially its fan-favorite leader. Doctor Fate, who we consider the best character in the film, arrives at the scene in all his magical glory thanks to an inspired performance by Pierce Brosnan. The veteran actor perfectly encapsulates the character, giving life to Doctor Fate in more ways than one.
Although the jury is still out if "Black Adam" will indeed usher in a new and improved Dcu, one thing is certain — superheroes have never looked this good on screen. The members of the Justice Society not only look comic-accurate, but each brings...

Update, Sunday Am: Dwayne Johnson’s long in the making dream DC project has paid off for the People’s Champion, as Black Adam has conquered a hot 67M U.S. opening, the best domestic box office start for him as a solo star, and a 140M global bow worldwide. That’s ahead of where we were seeing it.
“The success of Black Adam is truly a dream come true. We’ve been working towards this family goal here at Seven Bucks for 15 years, applying every bit of experience we’ve acquired over the years to help bring this project to life. So, to be here now seeing how our hard work has been paid off with the biggest opening of our careers is an incredible feeling. Our goal with this film was to establish several new characters in the Dceu that would give us an opportunity, in success, to really expand the universe,...

There's a new antihero in town ... and no, it's not just Taylor Swift.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has spent over a decade trying to get "Black Adam" off the ground, which makes it all the more surreal that we've finally reached the point where we can say that the DC superhero antihero movie is currently playing in theaters worldwide. All along, we've been told ad nauseum that this will be the film to "change the hierarchy of power" in the DC Universe (check this out for a spoilery look at whether the end result actually managed to pull that off or not!), putting tons of pressure on "Black Adam" to set itself apart from the rest of this comic book movie "genre" and do something radically different.
The jury is still out on whether Johnson and director Jaume Collet-Serra actually accomplished this or not -- /Film's review by our very...

After 15 years in the making, Black Adam finally made its debut on Wednesday night, hosting its world premiere in Times Square.
The DC film, which stars Dwayne Johnson as the titular antihero who is released into modern times after 5,000 years of imprisonment, has been a longtime dream of Johnson’s, as he told THR about putting on his (not-muscle-padded) suit for the first time.
“I just took a look in the mirror — it was a very humbling moment because I fought so hard for this movie to get this movie made, and keep it on track. Fifteen long years, and here we are,” Johnson reminisced on the red carpet. “Before I walked out of my trailer on day one, I was grateful: Thank you, God; thank you, universe; let’s go to work. A 10-year-old playing a 33-year-old who’s pretending to be a nine-year-old is a tricky tightrope to walk for anybody, but then-preteen Isabelle Fuhrman achieved it with preternatural creepiness as the “little girl” Esther in 2009’s “Orphan.”
The Warner Bros. horror offering was an end-of-decade, word-of-mouth sleeper in spite of, and because of, its risible-on-paper plot — a nine-year-old Russian girl terrorizing her adoptive family is actually a 33-year-old Estonian woman with a rare hormonal disorder that stunts her physical growth. But what made the movie so sickly convincing and effective was how straight Jaume Collet-Serra’s direction and David Leslie Johnson’s screenplay played the ridiculous story. Still, it wouldn’t have worked without Fuhrman, now 25, and returning to the role 13 years later with Paramount’s sequel origin story, “Orphan: First Kill” (August 19), from “The Boy” director William Brent Bell.
“When I first found out I was coming back, I was joking to myself like,...
