Jasia Ka (Kaulbach) is an Emmy and Telly Award-winning director. Jasia is best known for her atmospheric music videos, dark comedies, and character-driven documentaries - and always for turning the lens towards rebels and dreamers. She is the creator and director of drama-comedy series 'Girls Aren't Funny' and mockumentary series 'Bushwitches'. Jasia grew up an All-American runner and dancer in downtown Philadelphia, a city that David Lynch described as a place where his imagination exploded, "fantastical...beautiful, if you see it the right way". Her passion for filmmaking was inspired by a similar desire to explore and illuminate transformation in unexpected places.
Jasia graduated cum laude from Amherst College with a BA in English and Theater & Dance. Jasia then earned an MA in Film Directing at Met Film School in London. Her films have been featured in The New York Times, NBC News, Paper Magazine, Pitchfork Magazine, NoBudge.com, BOOOOOOM-TV, Condé Nast, Brooklyn Vegan, Fast Company, Inc. Magazine, and more.
Awards include: Best TV Pilot at Laugh After Dark Comedy Fest, Best National Music Video at Indie Memphis, Audience Choice Award for Short Film at We Make Movies International Film Festival, Emmy Award in New York Entertainment Program Feature, Emmy Nomination in New York Arts Program Special, and Silver Telly Award Winner in Documentary Series.
