It was one of the largest manhunts in history. Having been ousted from power following the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq, Saddam Hussein, the country’s once all-powerful and ruthless leader, went into hiding as an estimated 150,000 troops scoured the land for the individual known as “High-Value Target Number One.”
Incredibly, Hussein evaded capture for almost eight months, famously emerging disheveled and bearded from a tiny purpose-built hole under a flower bed near the town of Tikrit. Three years later, he was hanged.
But who dug the hole for Hussein? Who helped keep him hidden from the U.S. army despite a $25 million reward? In Halkawt Mustafa’s feature doc Hiding Saddam Hussein, the Kurdish/Norwegian filmmaker lets Alaa Namiq tell his incredible story on camera for the first time, explaining how the toppled dictator turned up at his farm unannounced and then spent an incredible 235 days there before he was found.

[Editor’s note: The following interview contains some spoilers for Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon” — and the factual events on which it is based.]
“Napoleon” star Vanessa Kirby — cast in Ridley Scott’s sprawling, wild historical epic as the divine Joséphine Bonaparte, former wife of Napoleon (Joaquin Phoenix), former Empress of France, one-time Queen of Italy, survivor of the Reign of Terror, and that’s just the start — is ready for the big questions.
But, first, jet lag. The Oscar nominee is currently in Australia filming Ron Howard’s “Eden”. How about starting with something light? Like, when exactly did Kirby realize that Scott’s grand epic was also going to be, well, kind of funny? Pretty much from the start.
“I know that the intention was [for it to be], because of the extremity of the world and the intensity of that life of his, how dangerous it was, and how much risk was involved in all of it,” Kirby said. “I think, naturally,...

Former First Daughter Ivanka Trump was spotted chatting with Prince William at a royal wedding in Jordan on Thursday.
Ivanka, 41, daughter of former president Donald Trump, traveled to Jordan earlier this week with her husband, Jared Kushner, 42, for the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein and his new wife Rajwa. Prior to their trip to Jordan, they spent several romantic days in Greece and explored the rich historical sites, which Ivanka described as “a sight that will forever be etched in my memory” on her Instagram.
A number of prominent guests attended the ceremony, including First Lady Jill Biden. The First Lady and former First Daughter were not seen talking.
A picture taken during the wedding shows Ivanka having a one-on-one conversation with Prince William, and in front of them stand the newlywed couple and Princess of Wales. Ivanka and Williams’s first encounter was four years ago during a Trump family trip to the U.

Kate Middleton Dazzles Wearing Queen Elizabeth’s Earrings For The First Time At Jordan Royal Wedding
Kate Middleton brought a special piece of Queen Elizabeth with her to Jordan for Crown Prince Hussein’s royal wedding to Rajwa Alseif.
For the evening banquet, the Princess of Wales accessorized her sparkly rose gold-coloured gown by Jenny Packham with Queen Elizabeth’s Greville Chandelier earrings, marking the first time she’s worn them publicly.
The late monarch, who died in September 2022, received the diamond and platinum earrings as a wedding gift from her parents King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, in 1947 when she and Prince Philip tied the knot. The Queen Mother inherited the dazzling royal jewels from her friend, Dame Margaret Greville, in 1942, five years before she passed them on to her daughter.
