“At first it sounded kind of risky,” Shalhoub said. “We wanted to raise the stakes, we did not just want to come back with episode 126. We wanted this to be more special. We wanted...

The murder of a loved one brings the crime-solving gang back together in the first trailer for Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie, Andy Breckman’s follow-up film to his blue sky show that wrapped its run on USA in 2009. When Adrian Monk’s stepdaughter Molly Evans needs his help finding her fiancé’s killer, he braves a world still very much in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, which, if you know anything about Monk, is about the most selfless thing he could do.

Thirteen years after the comedy-mystery series “Monk” ended its successful eight-season run on the USA Network, star Tony Shalhoub and many of his cast mates are set to reprise their roles in the Peacock original telefilm “Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie.” Shalhoub is also serving as co-executive producer on the new project along with former “Monk” team members Andy Breckman, David Hoberman, and Randy Zisk.
Shalhoub, who played fastidious sleuth Adrian Monk on the original show, will be rejoined by supporting players Ted Levine (Capt. Stottlemeyer), Jason Gray-Stanford (Lt. Disher), Traylor Howard (Natalie Teeger), Melora Hardin (Trudy Monk), and Héctor Elizondo (Dr. Bell). Acclaimed mystery-comedy series "Monk," starring Tony Shalhoub as the world's most brilliant, yet neurotic, detective is getting a movie follow-up. "Mr. Monk's Last Case: A Monk Movie" will be distributed by Peacock.
The original "Monk" ran for eight seasons, between 2002 to 2009, on USA Network. A riff on Sherlock Holmes set in modern-day San Francisco, the lead character Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub) is a detective afflicted with obsessive-compulsive disorder. This makes him brilliant at his job — he catches details and remembers things no one else does — but also socially awkward. Monk retired from the San Francisco police after the murder of his beloved wife Trudy (Melora Hardin), the one case he never solved. The series follows him coming out of retirement as he tries to solve Trudy's murder — and handles plenty of other investigations along the way.
This movie is set to be a true reunion, too. Shalhoub will be returning...
