Dave Minyard
- Actor
Dave Minyard was born in Redlands, CA in 1976. He attended Redlands High School, as well as Orangewood High.
Dave has also been a musician most of his life. In 1999 he recorded an album with his band "FLATLINE" entitled "Feel The Pulse" which received a small amount of radio airplay. In 2014 he was a founder of the rock band "INSiGHT" and in 2016 released a 4 song EP entitled "The Beginning" with Dave being the main music/lyric writer. When various members moved away, he continued writing music and re-branded "INSiGHT" as a hard rock/metal band. He wrote, recorded, and released 2 albums: "Gemini: The Light & The Dark" was released in 2020, and the much heavier "TRUST" released in 2021.
When asked about the albums Dave is quoted: "The new album "TrusT" was released on April 3rd, 2021. I am really proud of this album, as where my first album "Gemini: The Light & The Dark" was kind of a retrospective look at my life and my past, "TrusT" will be a glimpse into the sociological present and future. Now I do want to clarify something. I know that right now, we are in a very politically charged environment. My concept for this album began many months ago, and while I definitely touch on current events, my theme and designs on this album are not meant to incite or dissuade anyone from their beliefs. I'm not trying to make a political statement, I'm making music. I'm making music (hopefully) for people to enjoy. I'm only trying to incite emotions and make you think."
The first single from "Gemini: TL&TD was "THiSisAMERiCA" and the music video is an animated look at the tragedy of mass shootings. The success of the video, coupled with the anticipation of the second album "TRUST" placed INSiGHT at the #2 local metal band (according to Reverb) With the release of the first single/video from TRUST, entitled "They Can't Breathe" thrust the band into the #1 local metal band position and held the spot for just over 2 months. "They Can't Breathe" is a retrospective look at the tragic death of George Floyd, from a perspective of someone who is not a minority, but wants to be as supportive as possible.
When asked about the song "They Can't Breathe", Dave explained: " I wrote "They Can't Breathe" in June of 2020, right in the middle of the protests and riots after George Floyd was murdered. I wanted to approach it from the standpoint of being someone who is not a minority, but wants to do something. I can't begin to understand what it means to be racially discriminated against, let alone fearing for my life from those who are supposed to protect. But shining light onto the injustices, and telling our fellow humans "We see you and we hear you, what can we do?" is a great first step. The recording process was musically easy for me, it came out quickly, but recording the vocals was a bit of a challenge. I re-recorded the choruses multiple times, I just wanted to get it right. "
Dave has also released multiple music videos, available on YouTube and most of his music is available on all the major streaming services as well as on CD.
Dave is also a published author, contributing his short story "As I Watch Her Walk Away..." to an anthology series called "First Time Dead Vol. 1" which was released in 2011. To celebrate the book release, a local Redlands book store "Katz Alley" organized a book signing, which featured Dave holding a book signing in his hometown. Dave also organized the first annual Redlands Zombie Walk to coincide with the signing which featured Hollywood makeup artists and city support, holding the largest zombie walk in Redlands to date, with over 1500 people attending.
