Looking back at Derry Girls, many people believe that Netflix, or any streaming platform for that matter, has yet to create such a brutally honest yet entertaining sitcom. Derry Girls had it all, from brilliant comedic performances from all of the show's leads to truly heartbreaking reminders of Ireland's troubled times.
It was only several years after the show's finale aired that people began to notice some of the little things that the series glossed over. The origins of James Maguire, the Derry newcomer who joined the girls in the pilot, is one of the secrets that has only recently been revealed.
Where Derry Girls’ James Is From?
Although viewers were enchanted by the ensemble of girls who portrayed Erin, Michelle, Claire and Orla in the show, it's Dylan Llewellyn's James who brought the unique accent to the group. As the only boy in the all-girls college, he was...

Jodie Whittaker has gone from playing a Time Lord to doing Time. The former Doctor Who star joins The Last of Us’ Bella Ramsey and The Long Song’s Tamara Lawrance for Season 2 of the British prison drama, now set in a women’s correctional facility in Northern England. Whittaker’s character, Orla, is a single, working-class mother of three, struggling financially, whose world crumbles when she’s sentenced to six months behind bars. Her crime: “fiddling the leccy,” slang for tinkering with the electricity meter to lower her bill. That nonviolent offense lands Orla in the middle of an unfathomable world—confinement with prisoners like Kelsey (Ramsey), a heroin addict, and Abi (Lawrance), a convicted killer—and plunges her even further into an abyss as she tries to hold her family together, with only her alcoholic mother to depend on. Still, it wasn’t hard for Whittaker to connect to Orla,...

It may be hard to imagine Prince George going by another name. But Kate Middleton reportedly had her “heart set” on another moniker for her and Prince William’s oldest son. Ahead, George’s full name and who the Prince and Princess of Wales turned to for help.
Prince George’s full name
The Prince and Princess of Wales officially became parents on July 22, 2013, with the birth of George. William and Kate welcomed their now-10-year-old son at St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, England, where on the steps of the Lindo Wing, he was introduced to the world.
William and Kate didn’t announce his name until two days later, on July 24, 2013, when they shared they’d decided to call their newborn Goerge Alexander Louis.
Then known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate noted in their official announcement their son would be formally referred to as Prince George of Cambridge.

Highway robbery, murderous Tudors and fancy fashion houses abound in Disney’s slate of UK productions for next year.
With a film and TV industry slightly less hampered by Hollywood strike action, Disney Plus have confirmed 2024 air dates for a bunch of UK-based series.
BAFTA-winner Sally Wainwright’s new series, Renegade Nell, has been locked in for a Spring 2024 release. Starring Louisa Harland (Orla from Derry Girls) as the titular rebel, the show finds a young woman framed for murder and inadvertently becoming the most notorious highwaywoman in 18th century England. Throw in a magical spirit played by Ted Lasso's Nick Mohammed, and we’ve got a proper fantasy action-adventure series on our hands.
Also confirmed is the second series of award-winning comedy Extraordinary, which stars Máiréad Tyers as the only non-powered person in a world full of superheroes and is arriving in “early 2024”, and a four-part adaptation of C.J. Sansom’s murder mystery series,...

Social media influencer Orla Melissa Sloan has avoided jail for stalking three professional soccer players.
The 22-year-old has admitted to stalking soccer players Billy Gilmour, Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell. All three are members of the Premier League.
In a hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London, Sloan was accused of stalking and harassing three soccer professionals. She allegedly used several fake social media accounts and 21 phone numbers over the course of four months, from June 19 to October 28 last year, to stalk Mount.
During the last weeks of her stalking Sloan, she added Gilmour to her obsession as she stalked him from September 10 to October 28, and as if that weren’t enough, she also harassed Chilwell from October 20 to 29.
Mount and Sloan are said to have engaged in sexual relations in November 2020 and continued their unofficial relationship for six more months until Mount called it off. After blocking the 22-year-old’s phone number,...

Being royalty doesn’t mean zero responsibilities for Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. On the contrary, Prince William and Kate Middleton’s three children are said to “definitely have chores.”
William and Kate moved to Adelaide Cottage to give George, Charlotte, and Louis a more ‘normal’ childhood Prince George, Prince Louis, and Princess Charlotte | Karwai Tang/WireImage
The Prince and Princess of Wales traded the city for more of an English countryside existence in 2022. Today, they call Adelaide Cottage, located in Windsor, England, home. Previously, Kensington Palace’s Apartment 1A served as their primary residence.
Adelaide Cottage sits on Windsor Great Park grounds and is said to be more quaint than Apartment 1A. Read: smaller with four bedrooms. As such, there’s no room for live-in staff. Meaning George, Charlotte, and Louis get a more “normal” childhood, which was reportedly the entire reason behind the move.

Siobhán McSweeney spoke candidly on the BAFTA TV Awards red carpet about how much she’d like to win a BAFTA. Later that night, the “Derry Girls” actress won a BAFTA (hurray!) — for Best Comedy Actress for the fourth and final season of the hit Northern Irish comedy.
In the Netflix show, she plays nun Sister Michael, who acts as a foible for the main group of Erin (Saoirse-Monica Jackson), Orla (Louisa Harland), Clare (Nicola Coughlan), Michelle (Jamie-Lee O’Donnell), and James (Dylan Llewellyn), who try to make it through school during the Troubles in 1990s Northern Ireland. As Sister Michael, she rules the school the girls (and James) attend with an iron fist. Being a nun isn’t some higher calling to her, it’s a job — with free accommodation. As Sister Michael, McSweeney is dry, deadpan, and constantly provides the show with some of its best laughs and most iconic lines.
