Young Sheldon, the spin-off prequel series centered around the childhood of The Big Bang Theory character Sheldon Cooper, has recently concluded with 7 successful seasons. It explored the iconic Tbbt character’s past and shed light on several events that were hinted at in the main show.
Surprisingly, the prequel show took a big challenge when they introduced characters exclusively for the show who were entirely absent in Tbbt. However, most of the fans were shocked to realize that Dr. Sturgis was not even mentioned in Tbbt’s finale even after playing a key role in shaping Sheldon Cooper’s celebrated career.

This article contains spoilers for the Young Sheldon series finale.
After witnessing George Sr.’s (Lance Barber) death in the last moments of the penultimate episode, fans knew that the Young Sheldon finale was going to hurt. However, this two-part finale is also by far the most well-written and beautiful hour of the series.
It’s a showcase of grief and healing, featuring each family member dealing with this monumental loss in a different way with Sheldon (Iain Armitage) at the center of it all as we say goodbye to the Cooper family. Ending a series is never an easy task, especially when it includes a fan-favorite character’s death, but somehow, the writers have made sure the story ends on a hopeful note.

A crowd-pleasing film based upon director Tracie Laymon’s experience talking with a stranger online at a low point in her life, Bob Trevino Likes It is a moving story that proves good people do exist in this world. With two wonderful performances by Barbie Ferreira and John Leguizamo––playing two strangers who share the same last name but are otherwise unrelated––the film progresses into a moving yet somewhat predictable affair. And that’s okay. It’s also not just a work of cinematic comfort food, with Ferreira expressing an incredible amount of emotional vulnerability, humor, and at times a youthful naivety in a performance that’s a little more complex than initially meets the eye.
Ferreira plays 25-year-old Lily Trevino, the daughter of Robert (French Stewart), a recent retiree who fancies himself a player in his local trailer park retirement community. He’s a cheap jerk who complains about the cost of dating,...

Writer-director Tracie Laymon has a lot of Bobs in her life.
First, there was Bob Laymon, her father.
“In 2012, I was looking for my dad,” she says. “He would just feel disrespected for even the most minor infractions, and he’d disappear for a year or two and not talk to me. So I put his name into Facebook and saw this little tiny picture. I friended him and woke up to ‘Bob Laymon likes it.’ I was like, ‘My dad likes something of mine! We’re back! It’s gonna be okay.'”
It wasn’t okay yet. This was a second Bob Laymon.
“It was a stranger in Wichita, Kansas,” Laymon says, “who continued to be more fatherly to me than my dad ever was — he filled the void. He had such access to my heart because of his name. My dad never wrote me happy birthday, but...

The first time Lily (Barbie Ferreira) sits down with a new counselor in Bob Trevino Likes It, we hear only snippets of the backstory she lays out in rambling, rapid-fire detail. Even so, it’s evident it’s a dark one: “Despite what my father says, I’m pretty sure it was not all my fault,” she says of being abandoned by her mother at age four. And it’s made only more heartbreaking by the way she presents it — with the chipper, matter-of-fact cadence of a woman who’s been carrying the pain for so long she’s become totally inured to it.
As Lily wraps up her spiel with a smile, she’s startled to realize the counselor has burst into tears; in the end, Lily has to comfort her about how sad Lily’s own life is. But that counterintuitive mix of tones is Bob Trevino Likes It in a nutshell.

Exclusive: Ahead of the SXSW debut of her first solo feature Bob Trevino Likes It, filmmaker Tracie Laymon has taken on new management at Artists First.
Premiering in Narrative Feature Competition on March 9th, Laymon’s dramedy follows a people-pleasing young woman (Barbie Ferreira) who sends her estranged and curmudgeonly father (French Stewart) a Facebook friend request, only to unwittingly befriend a grieving man with the same name (John Leguizamo). She wrote, directed, and produced the pic, which draws heavily from her own life and also stars Lauren “Lolo” Spencer and Rachel Bay Jones.
A Texas native, Laymon spent some of her formative teen years in Russia before returning to the States for college, where she began directing short films. Since then, her directorial projects have won numerous accolades, including a jury prize at SXSW and Best Director awards at Women Texas Film Festival, the Seattle Film Festival, and The Method Fest in Beverly Hills.

Just weeks ago, Sir Elton John became the 19th entertainer to win the highly desirable Egot by claiming his first ever Emmy Award. And now, which person is the most likely to be the 20th Egot later this year, in 2025 or beyond? Here is a summary of the 80 people who have the best chance right now.
The most likely duo could be composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (actually meaning a 20th and 21st Egot if they win). They are producers and songwriters for the third season of “Only Murders in the Building,” so they will have a couple of opportunities in September at the Emmys. They first won an Oscar, Tony, and Grammy.
For the 2024 Grammys, nobody is nominated who could become an Egot, so the next possible chance would be 2025. There are a total of 25 people who have won everything needed except a Grammy. They are actress Ellen Burstyn,...

Niles Crane, er, David Hyde Pierce is happy to explain why his beloved character won’t be showing up on the reboot of Frasier on Paramount+.
While promoting his appearance in “Here We Are,” the Stephen Sondheim/David Ives musical that’s being staged in Manhattan, Pierce revealed why he didn’t reprise the role that earned him four Emmys.
“I never really wanted to go back,” he told the Los Angeles Times. “It’s not like I said, ‘Oh, I don’t ever want to do that again.’ I loved every moment. It was that I wanted to do other things. Steven Pasquale and Jeremy Shamos started working on the new Stephen Sondheim musical, Here We Are, seven years ago, while others, like Denis O’Hare, were asked to join the project last summer.
But for everyone now starring in the show, which opened Off-Broadway at The Shed on Oct. 22, joining the project was an immediate yes, largely due to the novelty of being in a new Sondheim piece, which ended up being the composer’s first new show in decades, as well as his last.
“I know all [his] shows. I know the music. I didn’t even have to read it. I said yes before I read it,” said Bobby Cannavale, who is part of the show’s ensemble cast, which also includes David Hyde Pierce, Micaela Diamond and Rachel Bay Jones.

In the penultimate song in Stephen Sondheim’s musical “Sunday in the Park with George,” Dot implores the artist George to “give us more to see.” The late maestro has done so himself one last time with the world premiere of his final musical, “Here We Are,” which opened Off-Broadway at The Shed on Oct. 22. Written with dramatist David Ives, the musical takes inspiration from two Luis Buñuel films – “The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie” and “The Exterminating Angel” – that it marries with one set of characters.
Tony Award-winner Joe Mantello played an integral role in the show’s development and directs its first production. He has assembled an unrivaled ensemble to take on the roles of the unimaginably affluent characters who spend the first act trying to find a restaurant in which to have brunch, and who in the second act find themselves unable to leave after their meal.

“Sometimes people leave you halfway through the wood,” Cinderella sings in “No One Is Alone,” Stephen Sondheim’s clear-eyed reassurance of support and survival at the end of Into the Woods. Sondheim himself, who passed away in November 2021, left artistic companions, including book writer David Ives and director Joe Mantello, halfway through a wood they were constructing together: the musical Here We Are, now playing off-Broadway at the Shed’s Griffin Theater. With his final offering, Sondheim sends one last jolt of structural inventiveness coursing through the veins of the musical theater form. Here We Are may not operate on the grand scale of Sweeney Todd or Into the Woods or Follies, but it is, to quote the composer-lyricist, small and funny and fine.
