Sallo Polak
- Second Unit Director or Assistant Director
Previously a successful floor manager in the Dutch television industry, Sallo moved to Chiang Mai, Thailand, in 2006 to dedicate himself full-time to helping vulnerable people. After several years of working for a charitable organisation located in Chiang Mai, he was offered a position as coordinator for a home for street children. At this point Sallo realised that he could either accept the position and have an immediate impact on the lives of 50 children, or he could find a capable coordinator for the project and then explore what he could do to support other projects, benefiting many more people. Thus the idea for Philanthropy Connections was born.
Sallo started Philanthropy Connections Foundation (PCF) with the goal of supporting those who need help the most, who are in the most vulnerable situations. To do this, PCF partners with local organisations in Thailand, Cambodia, and Burma who know the real problems and needs within their communities. They speak the language and know the culture, making them the ideal partners to implement projects that will address these problems. What they often lack are the resources to find help from outside. This is where PCF fits in, by determining what resources are needed and where, and then locating those resources and providing them as needed.
