As someone who’s been a devoted viewer of The Flash ever since the pilot episode first aired, it pained me to see the series turn into a flat-out comedy with its fourth season. But after weeks of cringing, I was happy to see the show recapture its former glory with the compelling episode that was “Therefore I Am,” before astonishing us all when participating in the Crisis on Earth-x crossover.
To be honest, there’s no doubt in this writer’s mind that the Thinker played a big part in the resurgence of quality. As actor Neil Sandilands was given more screentime, he chilled us to the bone with his nuanced performance as the calculating Clifford DeVoe, thus presenting Team Flash with a threat unlike anything they’d ever seen.
Still, DeVoe’s declining physical condition presented a problem, with that having been rectified in the closing moments of last night’s midseason finale,...

You know how for most of the first batch of episodes this season I was asking for a little balance? Therefore I Am is what I meant. Now, with the complete understanding that this is, perhaps, an overcorrection from the overcorrection in terms of the sheer lack of humour in this episode, I still feel like Therefore I Am was more like what I've come to expect from this show in general, and in its better moments, like this show at its best.

4.1 The Flash Reborn
Every year when The Flash returns I say something along the lines of how good it is to have this cast back. I do genuinely miss this show during the offseason, even if it sometimes gets a little exhausting or frustrating during the post-midseason lull. But I really loved the last run, although I realised over the summer that I appear to have been in the minority with that opinion. Still, I get the feeling that The Flash season 4 premiere will satisfy just about any Flash fan out there.

The CW has released an extended trailer for The Flash Season 4 which offers some cool and exciting new footage for fans of the series to enjoy.
The first episode of Season 4 is called "The Flash Reborn" and it's set six months after the end of Season 3 in which Barry Allen disappeared. He's been stranded in the Speed Force during that time. In the trailer, we see Barry Allen's friends struggle with the choice to bring him back, which as you'll see, they eventually decide to do. Obviously, things are a little off.
Series star Grant Gustin, had this to say about his character in an interview with Cb:
"He’s going to have kind of an awakening when he comes out. He’s going to have some knowledge that he probably doesn’t even quite understand yet. He’ll also be little scrambled; He won’t really be himself the first time we see him.

After two seasons of relentlessly grim Arrow, we all welcomed Flash with open arms, rejoicing in its optimism and joy. Sure, there were some quibbles and wobbles, but it was still eminently entertaining with an appealing cast.
Then came season three. I do not understand DC’s fixation with Flashpoint, a miniseries that really doesn’t hold up to examination and was not only the cornerstone for this misfire of a season but will also be felt in the first Flash feature film. The repercussions of Barry’s rash decision at the end of season two, to race back in time and save his mother’s life, had substantial impact on his life and those of others in his world. Then, when he tried to fix it, other changes happened and he spent most of the season moping.

This season of TV has been a busy on one the CW — especially if you’re into their DC fare. With Supergirl finally joining the network in an official capacity, they had four hours of superhero programming each week. With the addition of Black Lightning, next season will bring us five superhero shows — a huge achievement for any network, really.
This coming fall will, of course, see the return of all four other shows, and with the current seasons finally wrapping up, CW has released synopses for each one of them. While the network has always been really good about keeping big spoilers out of the synopses, at the very least, you can get a glimpse of where the momentum for each show is going.
Have a look at the synopses below!

We haven’t even seen the season finales for the current run of The CW’s DC TV shows yet (well, at least not for 3 of the 4), but the network has already released some synopses for the 2017/2018 season. Though it’s obviously early days and they don’t reveal a whole lot, we can still pick out some interesting new details from what’s been provided.
First, The Flash:
Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) lived a normal life as a perpetually tardy C.S.I. in the Central City Police Department. Barry’s life changed forever when the S.T.A.R. If you thought the story choices on Supergirl were bold (Kal vs Kara), check out the Flash Season Finale Promo (below) for even bolder story choices. In the promo we see a Barry Allen/Flash who looks like he’s holding a limp, lifeless Iris West. (I say looks because Barry has proven that even with Flashpoint, he’ll still tinker with time. Plus there’s a whole multi-verse out there, but I get ahead of myself). We see Detective Joe West and Barry with expressions of clear mourning. We also see Savitar racing around looking triumphant. But we’ve got a whole episode left.

Well!
There are three episodes left. There is now pretty much a zero chance that The Flash screws this up. I'm not even going to talk about that bonkers final shot yet. Why? Because while it's certainly the biggest moment of I Know Who You Are, it isn't the most important. And this was an episode that was positively packed with important moments, many of which affect the series as a whole, not just this season.
For starters, this is basically a Killer Frost episode. And if you've been reading me since season one, I have consistently preached patience with Killer Frost.

Joe West is going to have a lot of explaining to do on The Flash Season 3 Episode 20 "I Know Who You Are."
As we see in the photos below, Caitlin, now in full Killer Frost mode, has taken his girlfriend Cecile as her prisoner!
We're guessing it's going to take more than flowers and candy for Joe to talk his way out of this one. Will he have to reveal everything to the district attorney?
In addition to Joe's woes, the photos also give us our first look at Tracy Brand. She could be Barry's last hope to stop Savitar.
Scroll through the photos and share your thoughts with us. Will Team Flash stop Killer Frost? Or will Cecile pay the ultimate price?

It made sense, given his previous history, for the characters of The Flash to keep Joe West out of the loop when it came to his daughter's possible death this season. As a viewer, though, it was frustrating for The Flash to once again leave one of its characters in the dark to create some easy drama. In "Untouchable," the secret came out and Joe West learned of the possible future on the horizon for his family. At the same time that The Flash let Joe in, they also gave a bunch of heavy hints that it could actually be him who ends up dying by the end of the season. When you think about it, these midseason breaks are really quite long. Ordinarily, by episode 10 of a 22 or 23 episode season, I've usually called out about 3-4 episodes as being "disposable" and indicative of why most network TV shows could benefit from moving to the cable model. When you think about it, these midseason breaks are really quite long. Ordinarily, by episode 10 of a 22 or 23 episode season, I've usually called out about 3-4 episodes as being "disposable" and indicative of why most network TV shows could benefit from moving to the cable model. Anyway, I'm not going to do that tonight, even though Plunder is a completely lame villain of the week.
Ah, but this is where The Flash proved me wrong once again. You see,...

We still can’t believe this is happening. In a world with increasing stakes in established shared universes, and world-ending drama, it’s kind of nice to know the superhero genre is still used to pull stupid, ridiculous things like a musical crossover special.
In case you haven’t heard, in a couple months, The Flash and Supergirl will have a semi-two-part crossover special, wherein the characters will sing, Glee-style. I say “semi” because only the tail end of the March 20th episode of Supergirl will include the crossover aspects, and the rest of it will occur in the next episode of The Flash the following day — not unlike how the four-part Invasion special kicked off late last year.
We know, the Music Meister will be the villain of this episode ( a character that was voiced by Neil Patrick Harris and debuted in Batman: The Brave and the Bold...

After a couple of Mediocre weeks of The Flash this episode brought the series back to its roots. Special guest director Kevin Smith (Mallrats, Clerks, and Yoga Hosers) returned for a second time and didn’t disappoint. Although Smith admits his job is really easy with not a lot of work the two episodes he has directed easily rank in the top 10 overall of Flash episodes. With the focus on the episode on Caitlyn Snows transformation into Killer Frost this episode showed that the team is struggling with the effects of Flashpoint. In a role reversal from previous episodes it was the team that went against the advice of Barry to try and solve their problems. From Joe West going against the advice of the team and cutting Wally out of the cocoon before the team could figure out a safe solution, to Caitlyn going after Alchemy and his disciples...

Freaked out by the ending of The Flash's season three premiere, "Flashpoint?" You know, the moment when Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) tells Barry (Grant Gustin) that he and his daughter, Iris (Candice Patton), don't speak anymore? Let Patton reassure you that all will be revealed—and that in case you were super worried that something horrific had happened to her, Iris is alive and well. "Let me just say this—rest assured Iris is safe and sound," she tells E! News, "but things are very different. What Joe is saying, that's not funny. We'll start to explore that the next few episodes—of what exactly is different and why Joe would say that." While saying...

Take a look @ new promo footage, action images and series' synopsis, leading up to the Season 3 debut of "The Flash", premiering October 4, 2016 on The CW:
"Until recently, 26 year-old 'Barry Allen' (Grant Gustin) lived a normal life in the 'Central City Police' department. He was secretly in love with his best friend, 'Iris West' (Candice Patton), daughter of Barry’s surrogate father, 'Detective Joe West' (Jesse L. Martin). Joe adopted Barry fifteen years ago after Barry’s mother was murdered and Barry’s father, 'Henry Allen', received a life sentence for the crime – though Barry always maintained that a mysterious 'Man in Yellow' was responsible.
"Then the 'S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator' exploded, creating a dark matter lightning storm that struck Barry, bestowing him with superspeed and making him the fastest man alive. But Barry wasn’t the only person who was given extraordinary abilities that night.

The end of The Flash Season 2 marked as the beginning of the adaption of an iconic DC Comics’ storyline as Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) decides to go back in time and save his mother from being murdered by the Reverse-Flash. But by doing so, the universe around him will forever change as a consequence of time travel and that will be playing a large theme in the third season of the show. Although The CW has given birth to its own veritable superhero universe, we must not forget that at the center are The Flash and Arrow. Trailers for both shows’ upcoming seasons premiered today at San Diego Comic-Con and featured a surprising amount of new footage, as opposed to being mere sizzle reels.
As we can see, The Flash will find itself in a much different place in its third season. According to Comic Book Resources, a year has passed since Barry Allen has started to live in the new timeline: he’s happy to have his parents back among the living, but those once closest to him are in somewhat different roles. Expect him to not get along with Joe West very well and to see Cisco Ramon as a man of affluence, who is, not surprisingly, a bit of a jerk.

The Flash has always been magical, but this casting announcement should seal the deal.
Harry Potter alum Tom Felton has been added as a series regular to The Flash Season 3.
Felton, who starred in all eight Potter films as Draco Malfoy, will be a fellow CSI tech at the Central City Police Department.
Felton's character, Julian Dorn, suspects there is more to Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) than just his good guy persona.
Well, he'd be right about that!
While there is no premiere episode for Felton, it's understood he'll begin airing around the time the the third season premieres.
Both Gustin and Greg Berlanti have confirmed the title for The Flash Season 3 Episode 1 is "Flashpoint," and they will be doing a version of the famous DC comics story.
That makes complete sense, as on The Flash Season 2 Episode 23, a Barry who was overcome with grief altered the timeline again when...

Is Barry Allen still Flash after the season finale?
The sophomore season of The Flash has had its ups and downs this season but that was to be expected. After a stellar first season it was going to be really hard for the producers and writers to match the level of expectations everyone going into the season. Ultimately every show is judged by how well the finale ties all the conflicts up at the end and where our heroes will go next. Last night’s finale for The Flash had some minor flaws but overall was a great ending to this story. Grant Gustin has become a phenomenal actor as he has grown into the role of Barry/Flash. Except for about 5 minutes of this show it was jammed with intense emotions mainly set off from the death of Henry Allen.

Earlier I went into complete crazy theory town on The Flash. I assumed that the Man in the Iron Mask in Zoom's prison was Earth-2 Wally West and that meant that Zoom was Earth-2 Joe West. A more up close and personal look to the Man in the Iron Mask in "Escape from Earth-2" seems to debunk that theory. The quick glimpse back of the prisoner's head shows a very different hair color, hairstyle and skin than the Wally West we know on Earth-2. All that being said the Man in the Iron Mask must still be the skeleton key to unlocking the whole Zoom mystery, especially after the events of "Escape from Earth-2".
The Man in the Iron Mask is just one part of the puzzle though. As "Escape from Earth-2" showed, once again, there's something very strange going on with Jay Garrick. I've already outlined the possibility that...

This week episode of “The Flash” became a set-up episode for next week when we see the cast travel to Earth 2. The main story focused on a new meta-human named Tar Pit who was out for revenge. This part of the story became overshadowed with the side stories of the building relationships between the West family and Barry’s relationship with Earth 2 Wells. This episode saw some of the main characters get limited or no time on screen. There was no Zoom or Jay Garrick in the episode with limited time of Caitlyn and Cisco.

The CW has released the first clip from the midseason premiere of The Flash, and while it’s fairly brief, it does at least give us an idea of the kind of dynamic we should expect to see between Joe West and his newly discovered son, Wally. Played by Keiynan Lonsdale, the comic book version of the character held the mantle of The Flash for over two decades, but it’s not yet clear what kind of role he’ll play in the CW series.
For the time being, the character building a relationship with his father and sister will no doubt be the focus, and it’s going to be very interesting to see how that plays out. Based on the clip above, it definitely seems as if there’s some tension between Joe and Wally, and if the character is set to become a speedster, it probably isn...
