Museum of the Moving Image on Friday unveiled the winners of its second annual Marvels of Media Awards, which recognizes the achievements of content creators on the autism spectrum.
Winners include Jorge R. Gutiérrez for the Netflix limited series Maya and the Three; filmmaker Devon Leaver for her experimental film Galoot; Chloe Hayden for her performances in the Netflix series Heartbreak High and her viral social media video “A Day in the Life of a Netflix Actor;” and Steven Fraser for his animated short Coming Out Autistic.
The winners were selected by a panel of judges including Cheryl Henson, president of the Jim Henson Foundation; author Louis Chesney; Carl Goodman, president and CEO of The Florida Holocaust Museum; actor Sue Ann Pien; and MoMI director of education Leonardo Santana-Zubieta.

Carl Goodman is making his exit from Museum of the Moving Image — the New York cultural institution where he’s spent 34 years, most recently as Executive Director.
Goodman will step down from his post on March 3, then going on to assume the role of President and CEO of The Florida Holocaust Museum in St. Petersburg. MoMI’s Board of Trustees, led by Co-Chairs Ivan Lustig and Michael Barker, has formed a committee to begin the search for his replacement.

The Museum of the Moving Image’s will receive 5 million in state funding to advance the non-profit’s educational work in film, television, and digital media. The grant was secured by Senate Deputy Leader Michael Gianaris who will be on hand at the organization’s annual Moving Image Awards Gala.
This year’s honorees include acclaimed filmmaker Sarah Polley, the director of “Women Talking,” novelist Kazuo Ishiguro, who wrote the script for “Living,” Academy Award–winning documentary filmmaker Laura Poitras, on the awards trail with “All the Beauty and the Bloodshed,” and “Nope” composer Michael Abels. AFI Fest 2022 announced the three winners of this year’s short film Jury awards on Nov. 7, spotlighting the live action short “Birds,” the documentary short “Haulout” and the animated short “Sierra” for creating art that can “bring people together,” AFI president and CEO Bob Gazzale said.

Glenn Close will be this year’s honoree of New York’s Museum of the Moving Image 32nd annual Salute. Past honorees have included Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Jimmy Stewart and Warren Beatty, among others.
“Glenn Close is one of the most acclaimed actresses of our time, with nominations for six Academy Awards, twelve Golden Globes, twelve Emmys, and four Tonys,” said Ivan L.
