Orange Studio, the Paris-based film and TV arm of France’s leading telco operator Orange, has poached Charlotte Boucon, Snd’s longtime international sales topper.
Boucon will be head of world sales for Orange Studio starting on Sept. 1 and will report to Kristina Zimmermann, managing director of the French studio.
Under the newly-created role, Boucon will spearhead all of the commercial activities of Orange Studio’s film branch, notably international sales, video, VOD and TV. The department’s staff includes Emilie Serres, the deputy head of sales at Orange Studio. Boucon will also work with David Marquet, a veteran sales executive who ran the department for a number of years.

Launched six months ago, Orange Studio’s international sales division will be hitting Cannes Film Festival with three movies across various selections, including a pair of new acquisitions, Guillaume Nicloux’s Directors’ Fortnight player “To the Ends of the World” and “Rafiki” (pictured), Wanuri Kahiu’s Lgbt love story slated for Un Certain Regard.
“Rafiki” has just been banned by authorities in Kenya where homosexuality is illegal. Adapted from “Jambula Tree,” a short story by Uganda’s Monica Arac de Nyeko, the film tells the story of two teenage girls whose developing romance put them at odds with their families and community.

Exclusive: Wild Bunch sells Michel Hazanavicius’s Jean-Luc Godard biopic to UK.
Michel Hazanavicius’s Redoubtable, which premiered In Competition at Cannes Film Festival this week, has been picked up for UK distribution by Thunderbird Releasing.
The deal was negotiated by Kevin Chan, acquisitions manager at Thunderbird Releasing, and Emilie Serres of sales agent Wild Bunch.
The Jean-Luc Godard biopic stars Louis Garrel and Stacy Martin. It tells the story of revered French New Wave director Godard’s relationship with his wife Anne Wiazemsky.
Screen’s Cannes review of the film cited it as a “dazzlingly executed, hugely enjoyable act of stylistic homage” as well as a “poignant story of a dysfunctional marriage and an insightful recreation of a critical and contradiction-ridden period of modern French history”.

Altitude inks deals with Protagonist and Wild Bunch; Sony Classics to release Loveless in North America and Latin America.
Altitude has picked up UK rights from Protagonist Pictures to Sean Baker’s coming of age drama The Florida Project, which receives its world premiere in Cannes 2017 Directors’ Fortnight.
The film is co-written with frequent collaborator Chris Bergoch (Tangerine).
The film stars Willem Dafoe, Caleb Landry Jones and newcomers Brooklynn Prince and Bria Vinaite in the story about a precocious six-year-old and her rag-tag group of close friends whose summer break is filled with childhood wonder, possibility and a sense of adventure, while the adults around them struggle with hard times.
The film is produced by Sean Baker, Chris Bergoch, Kevin Chinoy, Andrew Duncan, Alex Saks, Francesca Silvestri and Shih Ching Tsou.

Eva Diederix has been appointed head of international sales at Paris-based Wild Bunch, the company has announced.
She will take up her new role at the Unifrance Rendez-vous with French cinema in Paris this week (January 12-16).
Diederix replaces former head of sales Carole Baraton who is leaving to set-up her own sales company.
In her new role, Diederix will supervise the sales team and oversee the operation internally. Vincent Maraval will continue to supervise Wild Bunch acquisitions and marketing.
Diederix comes from Wild Bunch associate company Elle Driver, which she co-founded with Adeline Fontan Tessaur in 2008.
Fontan Tessaur will remain at the head of that company, overseeing its sales activities and development.
Prior to setting up Elle Driver, Diederix was head of international sales at Sogepaq in Spain from 1998 to 2002 and then at Ugc from 2002 to 2007.
