The Sopranos had one of the most talked-about endings of all time when the series finale ended mid-scene and fans would form closure through their own theories. The show would go down as one of HBO’s best originals, and while the Emmy-winning series officially came to a close in 2007, it was revealed that there was lost footage of James Gandolfini and Edie Falco reprising their roles as Tony and Carmela Soprano as the couple would try to convince LeBron James to come to the New York Knicks in 2010. The existence of the private video was revealed a few years ago in the docu-series podcast Shattered: Hope, Heartbreak and the New York Knicks.
The Hollywood Reporter urges you to look no further as the lost video has been found. The whole video was obtained by former ESPN host Pablo Torre. He had recently aired on his Pablo Torre Finds Out...

A long-rumored video of James Gandolfini reprising his Emmy-winning role of Tony Soprano has been unearthed.
The footage (below) has Gandolfini and his co-star Edie Falco back in their roles as The Sopranos power couple Tony and Carmela.
The clip was privately produced in 2010 — three years after the HBO drama’s finale — in an effort to lure LeBron James to the New York Knicks.
The scene takes place “Two Years Later,” following the end of the show. “Yeah, life’s good here Carm, even if we are in the witness protection program,” Tony says to his wife. Then, they discussed the possibility of James moving to New York and finding him the perfect home: Madison Square Garden. The video was obtained by former ESPN host Pablo Torre and aired on his Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast. The scene starts at the 9:30-minute mark.

The director is DJ Caruso (xXx: Return of Xander Cage), and the pic is produced by Mary Aloe, founder of Aloe Entertainment (Bruised), and Hannah Leader (Freud’s Last Session). It’s the 30-story elephant on the Los Angeles skyline — and seemingly no one, including Mayor Karen Bass, has decided what to do about it. The Oceanwide Plaza luxury development has stood next to Crypto.com Arena vacant and half-finished since 2019, when its Chinese developer, having already spent $1.1 billion on it, ran out of money.
In December, three L.A. taggers — Akua, Sour and Castle — broke into the highest of Oceanwide’s three towers and spray-painted their names across its floor-to-ceiling windows. The daring stunt served as a bat signal to the rest of L.A.’s graffiti community, including prolific tagger Endem, who dreamed of seeing his own name in 13-foot-tall block letters adorning the building.
“A lot of people were actually hitting me up on Instagram,” says Endem. “Like, ‘What’s up with that building?’ It was the talk of the town within the community, but no one had the balls to hit it.

Sudden success is a hell of a drug. Be it entertainment, sports, or certain, shockingly competitive sectors of the healthcare industry, you can count on numerous fast risers to get high on their own supply and take an ego-fueled torch to their career.
Television actors are especially susceptible to these vain slip-ups, and it's easy to understand why. Before the advent of prestige TV, the small-screen medium was, particularly for young-ish performers, viewed as a potential springboard to big-screen stardom. Sometimes it works out. Chevy Chase bolted from "Saturday Night Live" midway through its second season and instantly became a movie star on the strength of his work in Colin Higgins' sporadically hilarious "Foul Play" (even though he's far from the funniest element of the film). And sometimes you're David Caruso, who quit "NYPD Blue" to topline a pair of 1995 flops in Barbet Schroder's "Kiss of Death" (underrated) and William Friedkin's "Jade".

Thirty years ago today, on September 21, 1993, at 10/9c, NYPD Blue premiered on ABC.
However, its debut didn't necessarily mean it reached every household.
The controversial series premiered to apocalyptic fanfare, with critics wondering if the series would usher in the end of TV as viewers knew it.
It’s funny the things you remember from your youth. I was at the age where the idea of a series willing to push the envelope, delivering a taste of the big screen on the small, sounded like an excellent idea.
They say that all publicity is good publicity, but people around the country were so concerned about the effect the show may have on the morals of the everyman that 57 local stations around the country refused to air the premiere.
A month later, there were still 45 ABC affiliates who, due to the possibility of coarse language and nudity, were still not airing it.

Andorra, Aug 29 (Ians) Belgian cyclist Remco Evenepoel of Soudal-Quick Step executed a commanding finish to claim victory in the third stage of the Tour of Spain, subsequently donning the overall leader’s red jersey.
The defending champion surged ahead of a group, which included pre-race favorites Primoz Roglic and Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard, both from Team Jumbo Visma, as well as Enric Mas from Movistar, in the final 400 meters of a grueling stage concluding in Andorra, reports Xinhua.
The 158-kilometer mountain stage showcased two first-category climbs in the last 65 kilometers, culminating atop the Col de Ordino. This stage also featured a breakaway including Damiano Caruso of Bahrain Victorious and Bora-hansgrohe’s Lennard Kamna.
Caruso, the last breakaway rider on the track, was caught by the peloton less than two kilometers from the finish.

The ’80s was a decade of movies that you can hear at a roar even on mute. A screenshot of Tom Cruise and Rebecca De Mornay aboard the train in “Risky Business” has a sound to it. The same goes for a still image of Kaneda riding towards Neo-Tokyo in “Akira,” or Jack Nicholson’s car snaking its way up the mountains towards the Overlook Hotel during the opening titles of “The Shining.”
It was a decade of synths and sad jazz; a decade of legends reaching the height of their powers (e.g. John Williams and Ennio Morricone), and of newcomers from other disciplines becoming cinematic virtuosos in their own right (e.g. Ryuichi Sakamoto and Philip Glass). The movies had never sounded that way before, but the best film scores of the ’80s — our picks are listed below — continue to echo in our minds as if they’ve always been there.

A midday robbery at the Americana at Brand mall in Glendale, Calif. on Tuesday saw thieves make off with an estimated $300,000 in merchandise.
The group, estimated at 30-40 people, hit the Yves Saint Laurent store at the mall, according to authorities. The Americana is a major indoor-outdoor hub in Glendale, a city of nearly 200,000 people which is adjacent to Northeast and Downtown Los Angeles.
The thieves reportedly escaped in about 20 vehicles.
Videos posted to social media showed people wearing hooded sweatshirts fleeing the store in broad daylight.
The Glendale Police Department is working with the Americana to identify suspects, according to a city of Glendale news release.
“This coordinated crime challenges our values, but our determination to uphold safety and unity is resolute. Together, we’ll ensure that such incidents do not define us,” Glendale Mayor Dan Brotman said in a news release.

Wellington, Aug 2 (Ians) South Africa earned an unexpected last-16 spot in the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup with their historic 3-2 win against Italy, here on Wednesday.
As Sweden had already qualified for the knockout stage, Italy, South Africa joined Argentina to compete for the rest of the round of 16 spots.
South Africa earlier picked up their first-ever point in the Women’s World Cup in their second match against Argentina, Xinhua reported.
Italy needed to bounce back from a 5-0 loss at the hands of Sweden last time out. A draw would see them reach the round of 16, as long as Argentina do not beat Sweden in the other match in Group H, though victory would make the other result irrelevant.
Italy put their nose ahead in the 11th minute after Chiara Beccari was tripped down in the box, and Arianna Caruso kept her cool to convert the spot-kick.

“Yellowstone” premiered in 2018, and has led to an acclaimed TV franchise, with star Kevin Costner striking gold once again in his career as patriarch John Dutton. Fans were disappointed to learn that Costner has opted to leave “Yellowstone” with the upcoming conclusion of season five; his schedule is currently full as he has been starring in, producing, co-writing and directing “Horizon: An American Saga,” the first of a four-film western saga.
However, this isn’t the first time a star has left a series too early, leaving producers scrambling to find a solution to keep a successful series going. Tour our photo gallery featuring 27 performers who abandoned their programs.
Like Costner, other actors and actresses have left to pursue other projects. Some, like Farrah Fawcett and George Clooney, go on to successful careers in movies or with more TV. Others, like David Caruso and McLean Stevenson, regret leaving a successful show when careers flounder afterwards.

Grey House, a rare thriller on Broadway, will be closing on July 30, after opening at the beginning of June.
The play, which stars Laurie Metcalf, Tatiana Maslany and Sophia Anne Caruso and features direction by Joe Mantello, began preview performances at the Lyceum Theatre on April 29 and opened on June 6. While the concept of horror is not often seen on Broadway, the production was not able to translate that to ticket sales and saw a soft box office throughout its run.
Since opening week, capacity for the show has not risen above 70 percent, and has dipped into the 50s. Grosses have similarly stayed under $400,000.
Written by Levi Holloway, the play follows a couple (Maslany and Paul Sparks) who crash their car in the mountains and seek shelter in a cabin. While there, they witness strange behavior from the inhabitants of the cabin, who include Metcalf, Caruso and a band of young kids,...

Hollywood political stalwart Jeffrey Katzenberg had some choice words to say about billionaire developer Rick Caruso and his 2022 mayoral campaign recently, accusing the former LA mayoral candidate of exploiting the homeless problem by giving tours of “Skid Row” to embarrass city officials.
Caruso, who lost to Karen Bass in the LA mayor election last November, started giving tours of the downtown homeless camps during his campaign to highlight the city’s growing problem while presenting his strategy to solve it.
Katzenberg, a political uber-donor, told Vanity Fair that Caruso should have put his money where his mouth is.

Pat Cooper, the brash Italian-American stand-up from Brooklyn whose anger real and imagined provided fuel for a long career in comedy, has died. He was 93.
Cooper died Tuesday night at his home in Las Vegas, his wife, Emily Conner, announced.
A mainstay in nightclubs from Atlantic City to Las Vegas, Cooper opened for Ginger Rogers at the Desert Inn and Frank Sinatra at the Sands. He said he once refused to take out a joke about an upside-down St. Anthony statue that Sinatra wanted excised and never worked with the singer again.
Also known for his nonstop, rapid-fire delivery, Cooper appeared as himself on the 1996 Seinfeld episode “The Friars Club” — he participated in many a roast at that famed comedic establishment in midtown Manhattan — and made regular appearances on late-night talk shows, for Ed Sullivan and, starting in the 1980s, on Howard Stern’s radio program.

Karen Bass was sworn in as mayor of Los Angeles on Sunday, becoming the first woman and second Black person to lead the city.
At a large ceremony at Microsoft Theater, against a backdrop of City Hall, Bass took the oath administered by Vice President Kamala Harris, and planned to talk about how Los Angeles was at an “inflection point” as it faces problems of homelessness and housing.
She plans to declare a state of emergency on homelessness on Monday as her first act as mayor that will “recognize the severity of our crisis and break new ground to maximize our ability to urgently move people inside, and do so for good.”
The move will “create the structure necessary for us to have a true, unified and citywide strategy to set us on the path to solve homelessness,” she said.

The focus in the US midterm elections may rightly be on the races for the Senate and House of Representatives, but it is also the time for a host of local elections, of which none is more hotly debated in Hollywood than the Los Angeles mayoral poll.
Necessitated by the departure of Eric Garcetti, who’s US President Joe Biden’s nominee for Ambassador to India and is still awaiting Senate confirmation, the mayoral contest sees six-term US Congresswoman and Democrat Karen Bass pitted against real estate billionaire, and Republican-turned-Democrat, Rick Caruso.
Caruso, who enjoys a slight edge in a dead-heat race dominated by the city’s problem of homelessness and eyebrows raised by his 100 million campaign machine, was given a big shout out by pop star Katy Perry, a loyal Democrat who had performed for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 Democratic National Convention.

Karen Bass and Rick Caruso are in a close battle to become the next mayor of Los Angeles, as voters proved highly divided over who is best equipped to tackle the city’s homelessness crisis.
As of Wednesday morning, Caruso held a narrow edge with 51.2 to 48.8 for Bass. The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder will post the next update to the count on Friday, and a winner may not be clear for some time.
In the June primary, Caruso held a single-digit lead over Bass in the initial returns, only for Bass to surpass him as ballots were tallied over the next several days.
Bass struck an optimistic tone in speaking to her supporters on Tuesday night at the Hollywood Palladium, saying she was fighting for the soul of the city.
“It’s gonna be a long night, and it might take a few days, but when we win –” and the crowd erupted in cheers.

“l am voting for a myriad of reasons (see the news) but in particular because Los Angeles is a hot mess atm,” wrote Perry in the post.
Caruso is running as a Democrat in overwhelmingly Blue L.A. County, but he was a registered Republican until recently. Perry, who performed for Hillary Clinton at the Democratic National Convention in 2016, was quickly and widely criticized for the post, on which the comments were disabled.
In reaction, comedian Travon Free tweeted, “As much as the right try to spin it, Katy Perry voting for Rick Caruso is not an indication of anything other than a rich white woman voting for a fake democrat who will ultimately have no effect on the quality of her life...

Showbiz figures headlined online town halls, fund-raising appeals and campaign endorsements in the final effort before Tuesday’s midterm elections.
Midterm trends favor the party out of power, and polls suggest that Republicans may make substantial gains, particularly in winning control of the House.
But the difficult environment for Democrats did not depress fundraising this cycle. According to the Center for Responsive Politics, showbiz sources have donated almost 57 million to federal campaigns and committees, exceeding the level donated in the last midterm, 2018. Democrats drew 87 of the contributions and Republicans collected 13, more lopsided than any other midterm election since Crp has collected records.
The top candidate recipient of showbiz money was Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-ga), drawing about 1.2 million in contributions from entertainment sources in his effort to retain his seat against Republican Herschel Walker. The top donor was producer Ted Snowdon, who has donated more than 3 million to candidates and committees.

Diplo will DJ an event sponsored by a billionaire’s campaign for mayor of Los Angeles. On Friday, the controversial musician will headline a show at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre, where Republican-turned-Democrat property developer Rick Caruso is set to speak ahead of the highly contested local election next Tuesday.
The concert is being marketed just as a “Get Out to Vote” event, though Caruso, a former Republican running as a Democrat, is the only mayoral candidate sponsoring the event, and the four other organizations listed as sponsors have endorsed him.

After 25 years hosting such regulars as Harrison Ford, Rob Reiner, Ted Danson, Diane Keaton and Frank Gehry, the much-loved Italian eatery Vincenti Ristorante shuttered Oct. 15.
Opened in 1997 by Maureen Vincenti (whose late husband owned the famed Rex Il Ristorante, featured in Pretty Woman) and chef Nicola Mastronardi, its Brentwood building was purchased by L.A. mayoral candidate Rick Caruso’s group years ago. They continued to thrive until the lease ran out and new terms were presented.
“We couldn’t pay the rent which was triple what it had been,” Maureen explains to The Hollywood Reporter. “Costs escalated so much.”
She says the landlords “were good to us” by offering an interim deal that allowed them to remain without a renewal until a new tenant was found, at which point they would get a 90-day notice to vacate. That notice arrived in the summer,...

The owner of the Television City studio is accusing developer Rick Caruso of “hypocrisy” for claiming to support the entertainment industry while opposing the 1.25 billion development of the studio, which is next door to Caruso’s The Grove shopping center.
Caruso is running for Los Angeles mayor in the Nov. 8 election. He has touted his support for bringing film and TV jobs to L.A. He has also vowed to make it harder for opponents of development projects to lodge “frivolous” objections under the California Environmental Quality Act, or Ceqa.
But on Sept. 13, The Grove filed a 374-page comment letter alleging a host of deficiencies in the Ceqa analysis of the Television City project. The letter claimed that the draft environmental impact report (Deir) was “fatally flawed” for many reasons, including an alleged failure to properly consult with Native American tribes; failure to consider noise impacts from TV production, including...

The two stars of Netflix's latest No. 1 movie, "The School For Good and Evil," walked onto the set of their film with something in common from the very start: the same first name, albeit spelled differently. Sofia Wylie and Sophia Anne Caruso revealed to Popsugar that the cast and crew kept them straight throughout filming by using their last names. "We went by last names," Caruso says, laughing.
"I think with inner confidence comes much more strength, and you realize that, even though you might be different than the people you're around, you still do belong."
Wylie and Caruso have something else in common: their connection with one of the most integral plights of their "School For Good and Evil" characters. In the movie, Wylie and Caruso play Agatha and Sophie, childhood best friends who uncover the secret, fantastical School For Good and Evil. When fairytale-obsessed Sophie plots to...

In every battle between good and evil, there’s always chaos — and generally, fire. The same is true for the climactic battle of Netflix’s new film, “The School for Good and Evil.” And yes, that fire was actually present. In fact, according to director Paul Feig, and movie stars Sofia Wylie and Sophia Anne Caruso, most of that battle was done very practically.
The movie centers on Sophie (Sophia Anne Caruso) and Agatha (Sofia Wylie) as they’re plucked from their village and taken to the schools of good and evil, which are responsible for training all the storied heroes and villains of the world. But when Sophie ends up in the school for evil and Aggie gets dropped in the school for good, Sophie breaks down. After all, she believes she’s a completely good and pure princess, and Agatha didn’t even want to come to the schools.

“It’s now a very close race. That’s exciting,” says Jay Sures, vice chairman of UTA, and a supporter of Los Angeles mayoral candidate Rick Caruso.
He’s not kidding. Two new polls show a very tight race. According to a Uc Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies’ poll released Oct. 2, among all registered voters, Caruso is behind opponent Karen Bass by only 3 percentage points, with 34 percent preferring Bass to 31 percent for Caruso, well within the margin of error. But the good news for Bass is that she leads by 15 points among likely voters, 46 percent to 31 percent.
A newer Southern California News Group poll, released Oct. 18, however, showed Caruso ahead of Bass, with a slight 3 percent lead, 39.8 percent to 36.8 percent.

Netflix's latest fantastical movie, "The School For Good and Evil," left us wanting more. The film follows two outcasts, Agatha (Sofia Wylie) and Sophie (Sophia Anne Caruso), as they discover two mythical schools for heroes and villains. Sophie desperately wants to go to the School For Good, but when she inadvertently ends up enrolled in the School For Evil and Agatha ends up in the School For Good, it's up to Agatha to stop Sophia from being roped into an age-old plot to wipe out all Good once and for all.
Even if the cast - which boasts up-and-comers Wylie and Caruso alongside industry heavyweights like Kerry Washington, Charlize Theron, and Laurence Fishburne - didn't have unbelievably compelling chemistry (which they do), the open-ended conclusion to the film alone would have had us thirsting for a sequel.
So will there be a "School For Good and Evil" sequel? The...

Family movies tend to get a bad rap — they're either too silly or too juvenile or too shallow for general audiences, or so adults like to proclaim. But there's a lot more joy to be had in a family film apart from its ability to not annoy parents after their kids' fourth or fifth rewatch. Family movies can challenge their audiences as much as they can keep them entertained while mom is making dinner. Or, at the very least, they can keep them entertained. Paul Feig's charmingly silly fantasy film "The School for Good and Evil" falls in the latter camp.
That's not to say "The School for Good and Evil" is without merits. Quite the contrary — it's a frothy and fun time, helmed by a director who knows — and has respect for — the material. There's a difference between a director who reluctantly makes a family film out of...

Review: Netflix tends to market the hell out of its feature film projects. When a movie drops on the streaming network with minimal exposure in the form of TV spots or trailers and in the middle of a week without advance screening for critics, it tends to bode poorly for the finished product. The official trailer release for HBO’s latest documentary, “A Tree of Life: The Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting” arrives amid wide-spread conversation of continued anti-Semitism in the media and just a week after Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish calendar year. But the film’s impact is intended to reach beyond the community it reflects by informing viewers about the heart-wrenching tragedy that occurred four years ago in Squirrel Hill, Pennsylvania.
On Oct. 27, 2018, a white supremacist attack targeted the congregation at Pittsburgh synagogue, resulting in the death of eleven people and injuries to six others — some of whom were Holocaust survivors. The unprecedented violence was considered to be the deadliest attack on the Jewish community in the U.S.
“The days when synagogues just leave their doors open — I think those days are gone,” one interviewee comments in a voice-over featured in the trailer.

Updated: The Los Angeles mayoral primary race that saw billionaire Grove developer Rick Caruso in the lead and Rep. Karen Bass trailing on election night has swung the other way as mail-in ballots, which make up the majority of the city’s votes, have crawled in. Caruso’s share of the tally has dropped 5 percentage points since election night, from 41 to 36 this afternoon, while Bass’ share has surged from 38 just after the polls closed to 43 today.
While the race will still head to a runoff election in six months, Bass’ ascendancy will surely be welcomed by showbiz supporters such as Jeffrey Katzenberg, Ari Emanuel, Steven Spielberg. Caruso, on the other hand, who seemed to be surging toward election night, has a greater-than-expected hill to climb in the runoff.
