Stephen James (full name Stephen James Smith) is a voice-over actor,
coach, director, producer, and consultant originally from Birmingham,
England, and now based in the heart of New Orleans, LA., where his
studio and offices are located, and Biloxi, MS.
Having been involved with occasional voice-over since the 70s, he launched his performing career in earnest in 1999, after emigrating to the USA. He became a leading light in The Talent Pool in Las Vegas, as well as being an active member of the board of Media Guilds International.
Stephen coaches voice actors as well as directing and producing voice and other productions, including movies. He has also coached American actors in voice over and, as a writer, he provides occasional consultancy to authors and movie producers and screenwriters.
A resident of Biloxi, Mississippi, and with offices and studio located in the creative heart of New Orleans, Louisiana, Stephen James is a highly-active member of the voice-over and performing community. He is founder and president of The NOLA Voice Talent Foundation, a not-for-profit organization providing educational resources for performers, actors and voice talent. He has also worked on a number of voice productions, including the annual fund-raiser/benefit for New Orleans - a on-stage radio play of the classic movie It's a Wonderful Life for which he has been producer, director, and actor (as Clarence) since its inception in 2009; and The GooNOLAs, a variety radio-play on-stage production inspired by the 1950s British comedy radio-play series The Goon Show and the American and British comedy of the mid-century, and of which Stephen is also producer and director.
More recently, Stephen directed "My Choice is Clear" alongside director and screenwriter David Mills, and which won several awards in the Louisiana Independent Filmmakers Festival 2014; and is Producer of the upcoming blockbuster movie "Boys Will Be Boys - The Movie", a fictional account based on the autobiographical book "Boys Will Be Boys: Media, Morality, and the Coverup of the Todd Palin Shailey Tripp Sex Scandal".
