Peter Wasson(1957-2018)

Peter was born on 14 November 1957 at St Margaret's Hospital in Darlinghurst, the son of Noel and Stella Wasson. He attended St Peter Chanel Catholic Primary School in Regents Park and Marist Brothers Benedict Senior College in Auburn, where he excelled in swimming, tennis, and science. He graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Arts in 1979, received a Graduate Diploma of Education from Sydney Teachers College in 1980, and completed a Graduate Diploma of Media at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School in 1984.
Peter began his career as a high school social studies and film teacher, then became a senior education officer with the New South Wales Department of Education, where he worked on the schools broadcast services and programs at ABC Children's and Education Television. Peter's career then took him to SBS Television, and he worked in programming and planning.
In 1996, Peter established his own business; until his death, he successfully ran his own award-winning company, providing training, assessment, and workplace health and safety consultation. He worked on a number of feature films and television series, and with clients such as WorkCover, Screen NSW, Fox Studios, Universal, and Matchbox Studios.
Peter also taught at AFTRS, Sydney Film School, and the University of Sydney, and he received the 2017 Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Dean's Citation for Excellence in Tutorials Award. He was a beloved teacher, generous friend and colleague, and talented storyteller.
