"I'm not going to let you die at all." An official Us trailer has debuted for an indie Swedish sci-fi film titled Origin, based around "biohacking". As described on their poster, "biohacking" is the exploitation of genetic material (for criminal purposes). The film is about three students at a university who discover a way to make cells age slower. It's a film about "love, ambition and finding yourself." Starring Emelia Hansson, Rikard Björk, Rafael Pettersson and Sandra Redlaff. This film is made by friends of Fs, Swedish filmmakers Andreas Climent & André Hedetoft, who made two shorts we've written about before: Logan and Double Trouble. Origin is their feature debut and their film will be available on iTunes as of next week. Take a look. Here's the official Us trailer (+ poster) for Andreas Climent & André Hedetoft's Origin, direct from Vimeo: Ambitious science student Julia and programmer Rebecca are trying to make cells age slower.

Where do you draw the line between ethics and scientific progress, and can one still break new ground without taking risks? Julia (Emelia Hansson) and Rebecca (Sandra Redlaff) hardly have time to ponder such questions. As young scientists with a friend’s life on the line they throw caution to the wind and hack Erik’s genetic code in hopes of curing an otherwise fatal illness. Before long Erik (Rikard Björk) recovers, but superhuman results are only the first of many side effects. A smart, Swedish sci-fi written and directed by Andreas Climent and André Hedetoft, Origin (Bieffekterna) tweaks a familiar set-up by centering its thematic preoccupations and conflict around recognizable relationships. With believable performances from a solid cast Origin ensures its most poignant query does not...

Even without knowing what the movie's about, the first trailer for Origin (Bieffekterna) looks and sounds rather great. As an electronic beat burbles and babbles, a scientist begins by asking, "What does it mean to be human?" It turns out that experiments are being conducted to use elements of the influenza virus to slow down the aging process. That kernel of an idea propels the teaser, which is filled with arresting images that suggest there is much more of the story to tell. Here's some official verbiage: The film is directed by André Hedetoft and Andreas Climent, best known for their popular short films like Double Trouble and Logan and commercials for Alfa Romeo, Comviq and Cadbury. It stars Emelia Hansson (Wallander), Rikard Björk (Johan Falk), Rafael Pettersson...

"What does it mean to be human?" Whoa. Get ready for an intense psychological deep dive into the human mind with this sci-fi thriller from Sweden. Filmmakers and friends of the site Andreas Climent & André Hedetoft (they also made that short Double Trouble) have debuted the very first teaser trailer for their first feature film titled Origin. Of course, things start to get a bit crazy. Starring Emelia Hansson, Rikard Björk, Rafael Pettersson and Sandra Redlaff. This actually looks really good. I admire the cinematography, and I'm intrigued by the story. Take a look! Double Trouble is an amusing slapstick comedy short created by Swedish filmmakers Andreas Climent and André Hedetoft. It tells a story about "a shy young man who misses the opportunity to talk to the girl of his dreams. When he finds a mysterious pocket watch that can turn back time, he gets a second chance…" The short was inspired by the great adventure movies of the '80s and was funded in part through Kickstarter. The short turned out to be very charming and entertaining, and I hope you take the time to give it a watch. I think you'll enjoy it.

We're excited to premiere a brand new sci-fi short film originating from Sweden called Double Trouble, a time travel comedy from directing duo (and friends of the site) Andreas Climent (@andreascliment) & André Hedetoft (@ahedetoft). This charming, goofy short film is about a shy young man who misses the opportunity to talk to the girl of his dreams. But when he finds a mysterious pocket watch that can turn back time, well, that's when things get interesting. It's an impressive film that doesn't rely on any dialogue, only actions and reactions, and it's cool to see just how far they go playing with the time travel concept/paradox. These two made that Logan short we ran previously, and are already working on a feature, they definitely have a bright filmmaking future ahead of them. Take a break from Star Wars and watch this amusing short. Climent/Hedetoft's latest short is being...

Welcome back to another edition of Kickstart This, FirstShowing's weekly column dedicated to spreading the word about cool indie projects that need your help to become a reality. This week, we're featuring a throwback to the Spielbergian movies of the 80s & 90s, a science fiction time travel comedy called Double Trouble. It comes from a talented duo of Swedish filmmakers, André Hedetoft & Andreas Climent (whose work we've featured on the site before), so take a look at their pitch video below, leave a comment here with your thoughts, and don't forget to donate if you can spare a few bucks to support indie filmmaking. Watch! Eagle-eyed readers of the site will recognize Hedetoft and Climent as the guys who brought us Logan, an impressive Wolverine fan film brought to our attention earlier this year. They wrote and directed that short, which incorporated some torture elements and a kind of origin story for the X-Men hero,...

Swedish directors André Hedetoft and Andreas Climent don’t quite understand that a BioShock movie isn’t looking for a director, it’s looking for financing. So, their fan-made video plea is only going to get them so far… What we have is a live-action fan film from the Swedish directors inspired by “Bioshock,” one of the most... Read More...

There's no Bioshock movie yet, but this short film is a real treat...
Call us suspicious, but we suspect the chances of a Bioshock movie are dwindling. There's little way around the fact that it'd need to be R-rated, and also that it'd need to be expensive to realise the world of Rapture and beyond on the big screen. No wonder it seems stuck in development limbo.
However, if you've got a spare minute, then do check out this excellent one minute Bioshock short, Little Sister, from Swedish directors Andre Hedetoft and Andreas Climent. It took a day to shoot, a few months of post-production on top of that, but it's well worth it. Take a look and see what you think...

Swedish directing duo André Hedetoft and Andreas Climent have created a really fun intro film for the Scandinavian festival “Pixel 2013”. The film features a teenage girl, played by rising star Fanny Ketter, who stumbles into different movie genres on her way to deliver her own film to the festival. The journey takes her through everything from romantic costume dramas to sci-fi action, zombie horror and an adventure film with a Tyrannosaurus Rex. The film also features a special cameo from danish superstar Kim Bodnia, known from films like Nicolas Winding Refn’s Pusher and TV-Series The Bridge.
The intro film was made on a shoestring budget and taken from idea to finished film in less than four weeks. To pull this off, the filmmakers assembled an impressive team of collaborators. The film was shot in the same studios as the “Wallander” movies and Solid Entertainment contributed with their Red Epic camera,...
