Maria Zak was born in Moscow, Russia. Maria started acting at the age
of 4 in the theater alongside her renowned actor parents Konstantin
Zakarchenko and Tamara Mascheyeva in highly praised Moscow plays
Gambrinus and Red Flower. Due to the maturity and commitment to the
theater at such an early age, she has earned the title of actor prodigy
in Moscow theaters. She has lived in Israel through the gulf war and
debuted in her first film The Third Traffic Light 1991. Her school age
years were spent in South Africa where she got involved in dance,
acting and modeling. In school she excelled in all subjects including
Art, Maths and Geography, but was mostly known for her acting skills by
fellow students and teachers alike. 2003 brought her to Canada where
she continued to study acting in Montreal School Of Performing Arts.
Though mainly a theater actress she has appeared in films and as part
the technical crew team in films and documentaries.
In 2010 Maria with her sister Sasha Zak founded Pandora's Tribe Dance Troupe and Bellydance 4 Humanity Campaign where she uses dance for non profit humanitarian and activist purposes.
