Laura A. Narvaez Sellinger
Laura Sellinger is a visionary and trusted advisor to non-profit organizations, driving forward movement through global fundraisers for causes close to her heart. Drawing from her own personal experiences and heartbreaking challenges, Laura shares her knowledge to inspire new perspectives on philanthropy and giving, ultimately fostering lasting social change worldwide.
Despite her ongoing battle with TBI, PTSD, and Autonomic Neuropathy resulting from combat action in Iraq, Laura remains determined to reach out to newly injured male and female veterans, guiding them on their Road to Recovery. Through hospital visits, support for families in need, and engagement with rehabilitation centers, she shares her story of struggle and resilience, forging connections with fellow injured veterans to help them navigate the most difficult periods of their lives. Her journey offers valuable lessons and highlights the power of positive transformation in the face of adversity.
As a survivor of Military Sexual Trauma, Laura is passionate about seeking effective solutions to address the broken policies and inadequate protection for military rape victims. She bravely shared her own story before the house and Senate, contributing to the lobbying efforts from 2009 to 2013 for the Ruth Moore Act, a crucial milestone in providing protection for sexual assault victims in the UCMJ. Her experiences were instrumental in raising funds for the IMDB-listed documentary film, "The Invisible War," and she continues to advocate for awareness and support surrounding Military Sexual Trauma.
In 2015, Laura faced a challenging childbirth experience due to Tricare policies, but her resilience prevailed. Overcoming post-partum cardiomyopathy, a DVT, pulmonary embolism, and pneumonia, she worked closely with cardiologists and therapists, successfully regaining 40% of her cardiac function.
Laura's personal life has been marked by profound loss and love. Having married her high school sweetheart, a USAF veteran who tragically lost his life due to police misconduct in 2016, Laura embarked on a journey of healing. In 2019, she found love and happiness again, marrying an incredible man who is also a deployed veteran, bringing joy to both her and her son, Johnny.
Launching a veteran non-profit organization signifies the beginning of Laura's mission to support and empower other veterans. Her dedication to making a positive impact drives her forward, as she continues on this transformative journey of assisting those who have served our country.
