The Michigan home of Rahm Emanuel, the U.S. ambassador to Japan, was defaced this weekend with graffiti that said: “Nazis.”
Emanuel, who is Jewish and served as former President Barack Obama’s chief of staff and as the mayor of Chicago, was out of the state when the vandalization occurred. It was discovered by the head of the homeowner’s organization in his southwest Michigan residential community.
“This was scrawled on the fence outside the Michigan home of Rahm Emanuel,” former Obama chief campaign strategist David Axelrod posted on X, formerly Twitter, alongside a photo of the graffiti. “It’s despicable. It’s disgusting. It’s just one more flashing red light. Stop the hate. Stop the antisemitism and the Islamophobia. We know where it leads!”

Sen. Mike Lee perpetuated an unfounded conspiracy theory that federal agents or informants were among the rioters on Jan. 6 and that one may have flashed a law enforcement badge during the attack (in reality, it was a vape). In two posts to X (formerly Twitter) over the weekend, the Republican indulged in a Maga disinformation campaign.
Lee quoted a post from former Jan. 6 committee member Liz Cheney that contained footage of the Capitol attack, writing, “Liz, we’ve seen footage like that a million times. You made sure we saw that—and nothing else.

The man who shot and killed three Black people at a Dollar General in Jacksonville on Saturday, identified in his writings a slew of other potential targets — including Eminem and Machine Gun Kelly.
In two chilling passages from writings that Rolling Stone has reviewed, Ryan Christopher Palmeter — who turned the gun on himself after killing Angela Michelle Carr, 52; Anolt Joseph “Aj” Laguerre Jr., 19; and Jerrald Gallion, 29 — listed both rappers by their given names alongside their stage monikers.

Ray Epps, a two-time Trump voter from Arizona who found himself at the center of a wild Jan. 6 conspiracy, is suing Fox News for defamation.
The lawsuit alleges that the network, particularly its former star host Tucker Carlson, painted Epps as an undercover federal agent in order to push a conspiracy that the FBI helped orchestrate the riot at the Capitol in order to vilify Trump and his supporters.

Fox News is facing a new defamation lawsuit from a man who claims that former host Tucker Carlson falsely identified him as an undercover FBI agent who triggered the January 6th attack on the Capitol.
The lawsuit was filed in Delaware Superior Court, the same venue where the network recently faced the prospect of a trial over Dominion Voting Systems’ claim that its hosts and guests amplified a false narrative that the company rigged the 2020 presidential election. Just before opening statements were to begin in the case, Fox News settled for $787.5 million.
Epps voted for Donald Trump in 2016 and 2020, was an avid Fox News viewer and, believing that the latter election was stolen from him, was among those who trekked to Washington, D.C. in January, 2021 to participate in protests, according to the lawsuit.

Republicans hauled FBI Director Christopher Wray in front of the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday as part of their effort to tear down federal law enforcement for investigating Donald Trump. The hearing was a circus, with Republicans pressing Wray about various conspiracy theories and generally doing whatever they could do to portray the FBI as a corrupt extension of the Biden administration.

Marjorie Taylor Greene reminds Americans every day that she doesn’t have much concern for things like decency, democracy, or reality when going about her business in Congress. She instead plays the role of a conspiracy theorizing carnival barker, pushing hate and spewing lies to distract from how badly her party’s approach to governing — or lack thereof — is failing the United States.
She reminded Americans of all of this again on Thursday, holding a stunt press conference to announce that she is introducing articles of impeachment against President Biden.

The move is aimed at demystifying several conspiracy theories surrounding the alleged deliberate leak of the genetically engineered Sarc Cov 2 virus, a weaponised flu virus, to test its efficacy. The alleged leak or accidental release of the virus from Wuhan lab of Hubei province of China devastated the world killing 5 million people around the globe and infecting 50 million people worldwide, the maximum being in the US and India, just as the Spanish Flu did in 1928 to 1930.
Conspiracy theories abound as a mysterious woman technician from the lab became a whistleblower claiming the virus was leaked from the lab. However, after the whistle-blower disappeared, and nothing was heard of her, the Who officially stated that the virus had accidentally leaked from the lab.
Subsequently, investigations by the US media revealed that the Wuhan lab was funded for genetic engineering experiments by the US government. This was publicly acknowledged by the special...

Washington, March 1 (Ians) Christopher Wray, Director of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), has said that the Covid-19 pandemic “most likely” originated from a “Chinese government-controlled lab” in Wuhan city.

Director Doug Liman says his self-funded Brett Kavanaugh documentary Justice, which premiered at Sundance Friday night, might be far from finished as new tips started pouring within a half hour of the highly-secretive project being announced on Thursday.
“I thought the film was done… I thought I was off the hook. I’m in Sundance, I thought, I can sell the movie,” Liman said ruefully at a Q&a following the world premiere of his first documentary, which re-examines sexual assault accusations against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh raised during his confirmation hearings in 2018. The film follows up tips the FBI apparently ignored in an investigation launched after Dr. Christine Blasey Ford accused Kavanaugh of assaulting her during a party in 1982 when they were both high school students in Maryland.

The FBI raided Mar-a-Lago as it executed a search warrant on the property on Monday, Donald Trump said.
It is unclear exactly why the FBI obtained the search warrant, but The New York Times reported that it was related to an investigation of boxes of classified material that were brought to Mar-a-Lago after Trump’s presidency ended, rather than turned over the National Archives.
The raid also comes as the Justice Department has been investigating Trump’s conduct related to January 6th, The Washington Post reported last month.
The news of the search warrant on a former president, believed to be unprecedented, quickly dominated coverage on cable news. Typically, for a judge to sign off on a search warrant, there has to be probable cause that a crime was committed, senior legal analyst Elie Honig said on CNN. The network reported that the agents arrived on Monday morning and remained there for several hours.

The victims of Larry Nassar are begging the public — and the federal government — not to look away from what happened to them. On Wednesday, dozens of former gymnasts who say Nassar abused them as young girls brought claims against the FBI, saying the agency was negligent in handling allegations against the former sports physician. Together, they demanded damages totaling over 1 billion. The claimants include Olympic and Team USA gymnasts Simone Biles, Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney, and Maggie Nichols.

Pete Williams is getting ready to sign off from NBC News after a nearly three-decade-long career. Before he goes, however, he may just have to report on one of the most consequential national stories in recent memory.
Williams, who has covered the U.S. Department of Justice and the Supreme Court for NBC for 29 years, is set to depart the Comcast unit after July, according to a memo issued by NBC News President Noah Oppenheim. That would likely leave Williams in position when the Court hands down what is expected to be a much-scrutinized decision on the legal standing of Roe vs Wade and the right of a woman to have access to medical help to terminate a pregnancy. A draft of a decision around a current case considering the issue was disclosed by Politico earlier this month and a final decision on the matter could come between now and the end of June.

Pete Williams, longtime correspondent for NBC News covering the Supreme Court and the Justice Department, plans to retire from the network in July.
NBC News President Noah Oppenheim made the announcement in a message to staffers on Thursday.
He wrote that “for generations of NBC News reporters, working alongside Pete has been a daily masterclass in journalism. But perhaps more importantly, it has been a masterclass in what it means to be a good colleague. Pete’s decency, kindness, and generosity are unmatched. For those that know Pete well, it’s his warmth, humor, wit, and compassion that will be missed most.”

We also knew that Trump’s campaign welcomed this help, that Trump made concerted efforts to impede the investigation into the matter, and that, three years later, Russia is still working to interfere in American elections. CBS News declined to make executives available for comment. These plans are not definitive, these people cautioned, and there is no guarantee they will come to fruition. Jeff Glor remains anchor of “CBS Evening News” at present.
The discussions about O’Donnell indicate a dissatisfaction with the “Evening News” performance under Jeff Glor, who was named “Evening News” anchor in October 2017. CBS’ flagship nightly broadcast has long trailed its rivals on ABC and NBC,...

Last month, the New York Times reported that after President Trump fired FBI Director James Comey in May 2017, the bureau opened a counterintelligence investigation to determine if the president was working on behalf of Russia. It was quite the bombshell.
The man who would have launched such an investigation was Andrew McCabe, who took the reins of the FBI following Comey’s ouster only to have Trump replace him with Christopher Wray three months later. McCabe has mostly stayed silent since he left the bureay, but on Sunday he will...

Federal law enforcement officials laid out their case against Cesar Sayoc Jr., the Florida man arrested in connection with the series of bombs mailed to CNN, prominent Democrats and critics of President Donald Trump.
“Physical violence and the threat of violence is antithetical to our vigorous system of self-government,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions said at a news conference at the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.. He then announced five federal felony charges against Sayoc, 56, who is in FBI custody. The 56-year-old suspect — whose van is plastered with pro-Trump stickers and photos of well-known Democrats with crosshairs over them — is charged with interstate transportation of explosives, illegal mailing of explosives, threats against a former president and certain other persons, threatening interstate communications and assaulting current and former federal officers.
“These charges may change or expand as the investigation proceeds,” Sessions said. If convicted on all counts, he faces a...

Washington — As part of its efforts to combat forms of foreign election interference like that seen in 2016, the FBI in August launched a project called Protected Voices to help political candidates and consultants defend against the next wave of cyberattacks on U.S. soil. Now, just three weeks before the 2018 midterm elections, the program has taken a strange turn.
This past Tuesday, two FBI special agents who work on Protected Voices had planned an online briefing with political operatives based in Washington and northern Virginia to share “cyber hygiene” tips...

After a major morning Twitter dump, President Donald Trump proudly declared to reporters on the White House lawn that “they” too are now using the name “Spygate” with regard to his campaign to discredit Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian election meddling.
“We now call it ‘Spygate.’ You’re calling it ‘Spygate,'” Trump beamed inaccurately, on the South Lawn.
The master of media manipulation held another of his tantalizing impromptu news conferences as he walked toward Marine One, heading to an event in New York where he said he plans to regale the crowd with more stories about the Ms-13 gang. White House is calling it an immigration event. Same thing, in Trumpworld.
Not wasting time, one off-camera reporters asked what proof Trump had as to his claims that his campaign was spied on by the FBI.
It was exactly the question Trump had hoped for.

President Donald Trump lashed out at the FBI via Twitter on Saturday night, asserting that the organization was preoccupied investigating his presidential campaign and neglected to follow up on information about the shooter who killed 17 when he opened fire at a Florida high school on Wednesday.
“Very sad that the FBI missed all of the many signals sent out by the Florida school shooter. This is not acceptable,” he wrote. “They are spending too much time trying to prove Russian collusion with the Trump campaign — there is no collusion. Get back to the basics and make us all proud!”

One day after putting it on the FBI, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders handed responsibility for the months-long delay in moving against Rob Porter to the White House Personnel Security Office. In the time between her Monday briefing and her Tuesday briefing, FBI Director Christopher Wray had put in an appearance at a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing, responding to Sanders I Don’t Think So-ily, telling the committee it had flagged things it had…...

The FBI made the White House aware of Rob Porter's domestic abuse against both of his two wives, impacting his ability to get needed security clearance, last summer, FBI director Christopher Wray said Tuesday at a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing. Wray’s testimony contradicts the explanation the White House finally settled on as to who knew what when on allegations against the former White House Staff Secretary. Porter resigned Wednesday after press reports saying…...

Samantha Bee skewered the FBI for creating a new terrorist category called "Black Identity Extremist" on Wednesday.
The new designation, revealed in a report from last August, defines a "Black Identity Extremist" as "those who feel oppressed and respond with violence." "Feeling oppressed and responding with violence doesn't make you a terrorist, it makes you an Eagles fan," Bee joked.
More seriously, she added, "the 'Black Identity Extremist' report gives law enforcement an excuse to surveil the communities that are protesting them. Surveilling Americans because of their free speech is dangerous and wrong.

The U.S. Senate confirmed Christopher Wray as the new director of the FBI in a 92-5 vote on Tuesday. The five senators to oppose Wray were Democrats Kirsten Gillibrand, Elizabeth Warren, Ron Wyden, Ed Markey and Jeff Merkley. His confirmation comes after appearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee earlier this month. The former Justice Department official represented New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie during the investigation into the George Washington Bridge lane-closing “Bridgegate” case. He also worked in the Justice Department under George W. Bush.
