Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is undoubtedly one of 2023’s biggest hits, being his highest-grossing film outside of his Batman films. In classic Nolan fashion, the film boasted an impressive ensemble led by Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt, and Matt Damon. In addition to being a big box office hit, Murphy and Downey Jr. won Oscars for their roles in the film.

The film’s success further catapulted Nolan’s position in the industry, arguably making him the best modern director of our time. It was recently reported that Nolan earned a whopping $100 million for the film. However, a new in-depth report of the film’s performance and profits has refuted that claim.

[Editor’s note: Anne Hathaway received a SAG-AFTRA waiver to participate in this interview for “She Came to Me.”]
“Oh, gosh, I have been fearing this moment,” Anne Hathaway said. The Oscar-winning actress is referring to being asked about playing a psychiatrist in back-to-back independent films, “Eileen” and “She Came to Me” who — in each feature — lets out a cathartic, instantly iconic scream in pivotal dramatic moments, sure to be excerpted by the internet (and adoring gay fans like this one).
In Rebecca Miller’s eccentric relationship comedy “She Came to Me,” Hathaway plays Dr. Patricia Jessup-Lauddem, a hyper-organized, Ocd-tending New York psychiatrist whose desire to achieve her “most uncluttered space” leads her on the path to becoming a nun. In William Oldroyd’s darker queer noir “Eileen,” she’s the elegant blond-headed prison counselor Rebecca St. John, whose rebellious air allures younger, impressionable secretary Eileen, played by Thomasin McKenzie.

The current awards season marks a decade since Anne Hathaway, a contender this year for her role in James Gray’s Armageddon Time, took home a wealth of supporting actress awards — including the BAFTA, Golden Globe, SAG Award and Oscar — for her turn as Fantine in Les Misérables. The actress had already established herself as a movie star in such films as The Princess Diaries, The Devil Wears Prada and Brokeback Mountain, and she scored her first Oscar nomination, for best actress, with 2008’s Rachel Getting Married.
Oscar gold would arrive five years later, with Tom Hooper’s big screen adaptation of the stage musical, in which Hathaway, as a starving sex worker, erodes onscreen, losing her hair and teeth, croaking out the heartbreaking “I Dreamed a Dream” before dying. Her performance was hailed as a standout among an all-star cast led by...

The story of Eddie Redmayne's rise to prominence as an actor pretty much begins with his casting in "Les Misérables" as smitten revolutionary Marius Pontmercy. In less than half a decade after the 2012 film was released, he had earned an Oscar for Best Actor for "The Theory of Everything" and a nomination for "The Danish Girl." Not to mention, he had played Newt Scamander in the "Harry Potter" Wizarding World spin-off film, "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them." All the same, Redmayne's journey to earning a role in the highly-anticipated stage musical adaptation — let alone as one of the central characters — was a decidedly rocky one.
A film version of the "Les Misérables" stage musical was a long time in the making. From the moment Tom Hooper signed on to direct the film, actors were coming out of the woodwork to get their foot in the door. The...
