Thus far, much of the ballyhoo regarding 20th Century Fox’s reboot of the Predator film series has been directed towards how the upcoming science fiction pic will differ from previous franchise installments.
Earlier this month, director and co-writer Shane Black, who had a supporting role in the original 1987 film, explained that his reimagining would both reinvent the series and honor what’s come before. Then, just last week, stuntman Brian A. Prince (Black Panther), who’ll be inhabiting the skin of an extraterrestrial killing machine in The Predator clarified that his monster is “a lot more mobile” when compared to what we’ve seen in the past.
But fear not, dear fans, as Black cleared the air today and explained that although his effort will be a unique breed, it won’t wander too far off the beaten path, delivering all the “genre sh*t” we’ve come to expect from the franchise.

Right before director Shane Black offers his take on the feared space hunter, fans in the Czech Republic will be treated to upgraded re-releases of the first three films in the long-running Predator franchise.
4K Ultra HD releases have been announced for 1987’s Predator, 1990’s Predator 2 and 2010’s Predators, plus all three films will also be sold together in special Blu-ray Steelbook. On top of that, the original will be getting its own 3D Blu-ray and 4K Steelbooks. An August 29th release date has been set for all of the above, albeit only in the Czech Republic so far.
Though audiences elsewhere may be disappointed by the limited regional availability of these fancy new reissues, this news could also be regarded as a sign that similar announcements may follow for the rest of the world. As such, fans in North America shouldn’t be surprised if they’re given...

After lighting up CinemaCon with “lots of blood, action and explosions,” things are finally looking up for The Predator.
Having undergone extensive reshoots in Vancouver earlier this year and watched a pair of release dates fall by the wayside, the Shane Black-directed reboot seems to have found its footing, due in no small part to a volatile teaser trailer.
Said to take place between the events of Predator 2 (1990) and Predators (2010), the flubbed 20th Century Fox reboot/sequel, the first footage from The Predator saw the “universe’s most lethal hunters” enter “small-town suburbia…deadlier than ever before.”
Director and co-writer Shane Black (Iron Man 3) explained last week that his reimagining would both reinvent the film series and honour the previous instalments, saying while his interpretation will, of course, revolve around a hunt, it will also explore what happens when “the Predators get a little more ambitious.”
