Hyderabad, May 4 (Ians) Kolkata Knight Riders (Kkr) won the toss and opted to bat first against Sunrisers Hyderabad (Srh) in an Ipl 2023 match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, here on Thursday.
Kkr made two changes in their playing XI as Jason Roy came in for David Wiese and Vaibhav Arora replaced N Jagadeeshan.
“We’ll bat first. Looks like a good wicket, hopefully, we’ll post a good score and then restrict them. We’re not thinking too much ahead, we just have to take it game-by-game. We have had injuries in many games, but they’re back now. We’re playing an extra batter due to the impact rule, and need to get those 10-15 extra runs. Two changes – Jason Roy is back in place of David Wiese, Vaibhav Arora replaces Jagadeeshan,” Kkr skipper Nitish Rana said at the toss.

Kolkata, April 29 (Ians) Noor Ahmed and Joshua Little were impressive in taking two wickets in middle overs while Vijay Shankar stepped up at the right time to overcome a scare in middle overs and smash a blazing 51 off just 24 balls to lead Gujarat Titans to top of the Ipl 2023 points table with a seven-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Saturday.
Post the play starting after 45 minutes of rain delay, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, coming in for an injured Jason Roy, slammed a scintillating 39-ball 81, laced with five fours and seven sixes. But apart from Andre Russell, the birthday boy, smashing a 19-ball 34, with two fours and three sixes, no other batter stepped up as Kolkata made 179/7.
In reply, at 98/3 in 12 overs, after Shubman Gill fell for 49, chasing 180 seemed far-fetched for Gujarat. But for a team that has carved a reputation for acing chases, Shankar started the turnaround by...

Dubai, Jan 7 (Ians) Tom Banton, the wicket-keeper batter — who burst onto the England domestic scene in 2017 — can’t wait to join his teammates in the Adani Sportsline owned Gulf Giants franchise.
With the ILT20 seeing some big names in the mix, Banton is raring to go and hopes to make more than a splash in the tournament.
“It’s really exciting. It’s been talked about now for the last few years and I am happy to be a part of this mega league, which is going to get very competitive with every player giving his best. Our first game is on the 15th and I am set to go,” Banton said.
The swashbuckling batter has plenty of experience under his belt in franchise cricket, having plied his trade in England, Abu Dhabi and Pakistan, and will hope to light up the evenings in the UAE in his own inimitable style.

Geelong, Oct 16 (Ians) Big-hitting fireworks from Jan Frylinck and JJ Smit helped Namibia post a competitive 163/7 in 20 overs of their opening Icc Men’s T20 World Cup match against 2014 champions Sri Lanka at Kardinia Park, Geelong on Sunday.
Electing to bowl first, Sri Lanka made good use of the breeze and tennis-ball bounce offered by a two-paced pitch with some tight bowling to leave Namibia in trouble at 93/6 in 14.2 overs. But Smit (31 not out) joined Frylinck (44) at the crease and the duo added 70 runs in the next 34 balls to take Namibia to 163/7.
Namibia had a shaky start, losing both their openers Michael van Lingen and Divan la Cock in the first three overs. Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton made a sparkling 20 before falling to a wonderful catch from Kusal Mendis with the score being 43/3 at the end of the power-play.
