Popular Twitch streamer xQc is leaving the platform for a lucrative new deal with a rival, marking the biggest exodus yet from the Amazon-owned site.
The New York Times reported Félix Lengyel, a Canadian known online as xQc, is signing a two-year, nearly $70 million contract. Incentives could bump that to $100 million, according to his agent, Ryan Morrison.
“This is more than most professional athletes and megastars,” Morrison said. “This is one of the highest deals in entertainment, period.”
Lengyel, age 27, streams himself playing video games, keeping up a running chat with fans. He also hosts reality shows livestreamed to almost 12 million followers. He is considered by many to be Twitch’s most popular streamer.
“Kick is allowing me to try and do things I haven’t been able to before,” Mr. Lengyel said in a statement. “I’m extremely excited to take this opportunity and maximize it into new creative...

After getting caught paying for deepfaked Nsfw images of female streamers, Atrioc is going offline and taking a break from Offbrand, the creator event company he co-founded in September 2022 with Ludwig, Stanz, and Nick Allen.
For those not up to date on what’s happened, Atrioc—a Twitch streamer with more than 300,000 followers—showed his screen during a recent broadcast and inadvertently revealed he had a tab open to a website that hosts deepfaked, nonconsensual Nsfw images and videos.
The website page he was looking at contained fake nudes of popular streamers Maya Higa and Pokimane. That same deepfake maker also posted fabricated Nsfw content of QTCinderella and Sweet Anita.
The amount of body dysmorphia I’ve experienced since seeing those photos has ruined me.
It’s not as simple as “just” being violated. It’s so much more than that.

I want to scream.
Stop.
Everybody fucking stop.

San Francisco, Nov 11 (Ians) Several Twitter users on Friday reported that the new 7.99 Blue subscription service suddently disappeared from their iOS app, as Elon Musk claimed the platform has hit an “all-time high of active users”.
App researcher Jane Manchun Wong said that Twitter seems to have unlaunched the new 7.99 Twitter Blue subscription.
“Checked with Twitter’s Api and the in-app purchase for Twitter Blue Verified is no longer listed for production,” she commented.
Several Twitter users reported that the option to sign up for the paid Blue subscription service just vanished from the sidebar in the iOS app.
“Lol and now Twitter Blue is gone. Nothing like skipping all testing, market research, ignoring your veteran team members, no A/B testing, and just going live with all new random thoughts you have to the entire population of the largest social media platform,” posted Ryan Morrison, commonly known as Video Game Attorney.

The video is brutal to watch.
Adriana Chechik is all smiles, jumping up and down on a spotlighted pedestal in the middle of a pit filled with a layer of black foam blocks. As TwitchCon attendees cheer, she leaps from the pedestal, does a split midair, and lands rear-first in the pit.
Immediately, something is wrong. She curls in on herself and rolls onto her stomach.
“I can’t get out,” she says.
A staffer leans in and asks if she’s okay. She shakes her head, then calls for a medic.
The pit’s loudspeakers blare over the crowd. “Nah, she’s fine,” an announcer says.
She was not fine. When Chechik—a Twitch streamer and adult entertainer—landed in the shallow pit Oct. 9, she slammed into Petco Park‘s concrete floor. The impact “completely crushed” several vertebrae, plus dealt nerve damage to her bladder, Chechik later tweeted. She...

Cinematographer Jannicke Mikkelsen is used to working with non-traditional filmmaking techniques, methods and in unique environments. In fact, it’s kind of her thing. Over the last decade, the Norwegian film director and cinematographer has solved innovative tech challenges with and for David Attenborough, the rock band Queen, Apollo11’s 50th-anniversary installation for NASA and was a mission specialist — their videographer and data manager — aboard the 2019 World Record flight polar circumnavigating Earth.
Most recently, she was the VFX cinematographer for “Stowaway,” a Netflix release starring Anna Kendrick, Toni Collette, Shamier Anderson and Daniel Dae Kim about a perilous journey to Mars that is compromised when an extra passenger shows up.
“Usually,” says Mikkelsen, “visual effects are kept separate from film production, which has never made sense to me, especially if you’re like you’re shooting a sci-fi, a VFX-heavy movie or a 3D movie. With ‘Stowaway,’ the lines did blur more,...

As Joe Penna’s “Stowaway” blasts off to Mars in its opening moments, we quickly learn the archetypes of the anxious astronaut trio at its center: Dr. Zoe Levenson (Anna Kendrick) is the energetic one, Commander Marina Barnett (Toni Collette) is the cooly collected one, and Dr. David Kim (Daniel Dae Kim) is the quiet one. Bound together by their mutual intellect and excitement for their two-year mission, they make a solid team. Everything is going just fine — except, that is, for the unexpected fourth member of their mission, an unconscious and injured stranger (Shamier Anderson), stuck up inside a vital piece of machinery and dripping blood onto the space station floor.
Such is the fascinating conceit of “Stowaway,”
The film’s opening act is an impressive one, with Penna only improving upon the skills that made his last feature, the similarly chilling adventure drama “Arctic,” such a riveting watch.

Every Breath You Take: Penna Ponders Morality in Jittery Space Odyssey
“In space, no one can hear you scream,” a foreboding tagline of another sci-fi classic once cautioned. But conserving the oxygen necessary to breathe, much less scream, is the anxiety inducing thrust of Stowaway, the sophomore film from Brazilian filmmaker Joe Penna. A US/German co-production sporting expert tech feats and narrative beats earning comparison to Cuaron’s Gravity (2013), Penna and regular co-scribe Ryan Morrison move from the chilly environs of their last endeavor, Arctic (2018) to unprecedented perils in the heavens.
Although we’re used to a different kind of vibe suggested by plots involving humans interacting with ‘unwanted guests’ aboard their spacecrafts, Penna concocts a ferocious moral dilemma created by a formidable mixture of human folly and questionable conservation of resources.…...

In the new sci-fi drama “Stowaway,” Toni Colette commands a small crew of four people leading a two-year mission to Mars in hopes of one day colonizing the planet. The only problem is, she knows only three of the four will be able to survive.
“Stowaway” launches on Netflix next month, and it’s the story of an unintended stowaway who finds himself aboard a shuttle to Mars, stuck away from his family for two years. But when he accidentally causes severe damage to the ship’s life support systems, the crew realizes they only have enough oxygen for three people to survive, leading the crew to make the tough choice of turning back and sacrificing their goal or putting someone’s life in danger.
“For their sanity, they need to try this,” Collette says in the trailer. “It’s imperative that we try.”

Netflix’s exploration of space continues after “The Cloverfield Paradox,” “Away,” and “The Midnight Sky” with the upcoming thriller “Stowaway,” starring Anna Kendrick, Toni Collette, Daniel Dae Kim, and Shamier Anderson. The movie comes from writer-director Joe Penna, who proved his thriller bonafides with his Mads Mikkelsen-starring wilderness movie “Arctic.” “Stowaway” stars the four-person ensemble as astronauts aboard a spaceship to Mars. The one problem is that there’s only enough oxygen on the ship for three people.
Netflix’s official synopsis for “Stowaway” reads: “On a mission headed to Mars, an unintended stowaway accidentally causes severe damage to the spaceship’s life support systems. Facing dwindling resources and a potentially fatal outcome, the crew is forced to make an impossible decision.”

Set in the South Pacific during WWII, the film is about the American crew of a B-24 Liberator Bomber who pilots their wounded plane through a gauntlet of enemy fighters and anti-aircraft guns to complete an improbable but critical mission behind enemy lines. Sources say the studio sees this in the vein of the classic war pic Memphis Belle, starring Matthew Modine.

Stars: Mads Mikkelsen, Maria Thelma Smáradóttir | Written by Joe Penna, Ryan Morrison | Directed by Joe Penna
Arctic, directed by Joe Penna, stars Mads Mikkelsen as Overgård (but you won’t really know that in the film) an airline pilot who’s thrust into a life and death situation after his plane crashes and he is stricken alone in the arctic wilderness, with little hope for rescue or survival.
Penna’s film is a broodingly intense and gripping ride with a formidable leading performance from Mikkelsen who utterly conquers the screen with little character and sheer emotive physicality, but the films repetitive nature and predictable story lets down an otherwise strong feature.
Undoubtedly the highlight here is the performance of Mads Mikkelsen. The film rests solely on his shoulders, of course, due to him being essentially the only character present, with the fact that this is arguably a silent film that...

Director: Joe Penna. Writers: Joe Penna, Ryan Morrison. Cast: Mads Mikkelsen, Maria Thelma Smáradóttir. Arctic is a survival drama from first time feature filmmaker Joe Penna. Also written by Ryan Morrison, Arctic has recently shown at this year's Victoria Film Festival. This is the twenty-fifth year for the film festival. One of their biggest draws this year was this survivalist feature, which prominently featured Mads Mikkelsen as the stoic character Overgard. Filmed in Iceland, Arctic involves a cargo plane and a crash. Other rescuers try to help out, but more tragedy strikes. This film is very much a survival drama or survival thriller, with Overgard doing his best to escape an inhospitable landscape. Very sombre in tone, Arctic moves along at a decent pace. However, this is very much a minimalist feature. There are only two actors here and very little dialogue. So, Arctic is for those with a bit of patience,...

Atmosphere-driven survival sagas have been on something of a roll lately, what with the new cinematic physicality that has turned the vastness of space (“Gravity”), another planet (“The Martian”) and the sea (“All Is Lost”) into arenas for both great acting and the most immersive kind of experiential distress.
The forbidding emptiness of an icy wasteland had to be next, and for that we have Brazilian filmmaker Joe Penna to thank. Penna’s feature debut “Arctic” casts Mads Mikkelsen as a pilot stranded in the titular tundra, battling the elements, loneliness, and a high-risk effort to save his own life and another’s. And though it’s not anything new in terms of dramatic representation, in its solidly visceral execution — stressing a belief in filmmaking’s basic tools of storytelling that’s almost refreshing — it earns its place among the genre’s stalwarts. You will believe a man can freeze.

It’s eyeball-freezing cold up there in the Arctic. You can feel it in this movie’s bones. Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen does wonders with the role of Overgård, the downed pilot of a small cargo plane who’s awaiting a rescue that may never come. Overgård doesn’t bang on about his troubles, like Tom Hanks laying on exposition to Wilson the volleyball in Cast Away. He just gets the job done, carving a giant Sos in the snow and poking holes in the ice to catch fish that...

Toni Collette just joined the cast of the sci-fi thriller Stowaway. She will star as the ship’s commander opposite the previously cast Anna Kendrick, who will play a medical researcher. Here is the synopsis according to Variety:
The story revolves around a mission headed to Mars, where an unintended stowaway accidentally causes severe damage to the spaceship’s life support systems. Facing dwindling resources and a potentially grim outcome, a medical researcher (Kendrick) emerges as the only dissenting voice against the clinical logic of both her commander (Collette) and the ship’s biologist.
The movie is being directed by Joe Penna and written by Penna and Ryan Morrison, who also wrote a film called Arctic that premiered at Cannes Film Festival last year. Stowaway sounds like a solid story, and Collette and Kendrick are heavy hitters that I like and trust for solid performances. Collette has been seen previously...

Anna Kendrick’s sci-fi thriller “Stowaway,” from Xyz Films and CAA Media Finance, has closed sales in multiple overseas territories.
Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has bought rights to the United Kingdom and Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, South Africa, Latin America, Eastern Europe, and most of Asia. Additional territories sold include the Middle East to Falcon Films; Benelux to Dutch Film Works (Dfw); Russia to Volga; Pan Asian pay TV to Fox Networks Group Asia; and airline rights to Cinesky Pictures.
“Stowaway” takes place on a spaceship headed to Mars with the crew discovering an accidental stowaway shortly after takeoff. Too far from Earth to turn back and with resources quickly dwindling, the ship’s medical researcher — played by Kendrick — emerges as the only dissenting voice against the group consensus that has already decided in favor of a grim outcome.
Joe Penna will direct “Stowaway,” as well as co-write the script with Ryan Morrison.

Anna Kendrick is set to star in a new sci-fi thriller from Xyz Films called Stowaway. We’ve never really seen Kendrick in a sci-fi film before, so it’s cool to see her try something new.

Early YouTube star-turned-buzzy filmmaker Joe ‘Mystery Guitar Man’ Penna has nabbed the actress Anna Hendrick for his second feature film.
That film, title Stowaway, was announced in May shortly after Penna’s directorial debut, Arctic, was named an Official Selection at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, and its North American distribution rights were subsequently picked up by Bleecker Street Media.
Thematically, both films are fairly comparable: While Arctic was about a man (Mads Mikkelsen) stranded in the Arctic, Stowaway is about a spaceship en route to Mars, whereupon the similarly stranded crew discovers an accidental stowaway shortly after takeoff. Penna wrote both films with collaborator Ryan Morrison, who also served as an editor on Arctic. Xyz Films will produce Stowaway alongside Rise Pictures and Augenschein Filmproduktion. Xyz and CAA Media Finance will introduce the film at this week’s American Film Market (Afm) in Los Angeles, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
