Tchizé dos Santos ( born Welwitschea dos Santos) is an Angolan producer and media entrepreneur. Though she became known for her TV work, her first major stint in media was as the editor of local magazine Tropical, and later move to become the editor-in-chief of the Angolan version of international Argentinian magazine "CARAS" which furthered her creditability as media professionally but also in markets such as Portugal and Brasil . Her career as producer started producing local content in her native and Angola, but rose to public notoriety after producing various episodes of the famous "Princesa" segments for the popular Brazillian TV show "Domingo da Gente" aired on Rede Record in Brazil and internationally on Rede Record Internacional , as well as the TV special for TV Globo "Enlace - Angola & Brazil" to fundraise for AIDS treatment charities in Angola with the support of major Brazilian celebrities such as Daniela Mercury, Camila Pitanga, Alcione , Dudu Nobre alongside with major Angolan celebrities such as Paulo Flores, As Gingas do Maculusso ,Dog Murras and many more.
Locally she's recognised as being a true pioneer for being part of a group of media professionals making television more accessible and user friendly to the majority of the country's population which is primarily under 25. In 2007 she partnered with local television channel TPA to provide content and train more television professionals to improve the quality of entertainment and sports programming. Prior to that most of the televisions efforts and professionals where focused towards news content, and their second channel which was opened in 2001 to focus on culture , sports and entertainment failed to garner attention from the public. Within less than a year of having TPA as a client the new programming produced and curated by her team took TPA's second channel TPA " or "Canal 2" from obscurity to a market leader consistently until 2017. Her team also played an instrumental part in helping TPA to finally get their international channel off the ground . Though the project had been discussed an announced by the broadcaster it had never quite taken of, and after the reception of the revamped TPA 2 they hired Tchize's team to help develop and launch TPA International technically and creative . The launch happened at the end of 2008 in Lisbon with live special episode of the programme Hora Quente taped live at Coliseu dos Recreios bringing together various local , Angolan and Lusophone celebrities and public figures.
With a career including many successful ventures in the media realm, Tchizé has always nurtured a passion for philantrophy and social justice having served as the Vice President of the Angolan Paralympic Committee , her mother's Washington D.C. based charity Friends of the Children of Angola ,and founding TEA Club which aims to empower women and youths through various programs including eduction , entrepreneurship and after school sports programs for youths .
Tchize's passion for social justice motivated her to accept the challenge to participate in the parliamentary elections in Angola and she has been serving as Member of parliament for almost a decade , where she is a vocal advocate for legislation that will improve the livelihood and civil rights of women and youths ( Angola like most African cultures values elders which leaves women and youths often socially fragile).
