Albert Bandura was born on December 4, 1925 in Mundare, Alberta, Canada. He was married to Virginia Varns. He died on July 26, 2021 in Stanford, California, USA.
Dr. Bandura was awarded the O.C. (Officer of the Order of Canada) from the Canadian Governor General on November 20, 2014. He is professor at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.
He was a psychologist who conducted pioneering research into how people interact and learn, and how they develop moral codes.
He paid his way through college at the University of British Columbia by working as a carpenter. He received a master's degree and a PhD in psychology from the University of Iowa. He joined the faculty at Stanford, where he spent the rest of his career.
His father was a Polish immigrant who farmed and laid railroad tracks. His mother, who was from Ukraine, ran a delivery service.
