It pays to be a Disney shareholder. While Star Wars fans are waiting on the first trailer for The Last Jedi, the House of Mouse screened top-secret footage from the eighth chapter in the Skywalker saga during a Disney shareholders meeting. Fortunately, we have a few details.
According to Los Angeles Times reporter Daniel Miller, who tweeted out some movie morsels, the footage featured Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) asking Rey (Daisy Ridley), “Who are you?” before the prospective padawan “deftly” handles a lightsaber.

We still aren't 100% sure when the public will see the first teaser for Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi (next month's Star Wars Celebration seems like a good bet), but in the meantime, it's good to be a Disney shareholder. They were shown some secret footage from the movie during a shareholders meeting with Disney CEO Bob Iger yesterday, and L.A. Times reporter Daniel Miller was on hand to relay descriptions of the footage to those of us who weren't in the room. (Warning: potential spoilers about Rey's family lineage ahead, so tread carefully if you want to go into the movie completely unspoiled.)
"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" clip is being screened. But it's a joke, sort of! We just got a few seconds of Rey handing Luke a lightsaber.

When the lights go down in Florida’s Orange County Convention Center next month, and Star Wars Celebration 2017 kicks off in earnest, chances are those in attendance will be treated to the first official teaser for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Truth be told, that trailer in question has caused much debate online, with many claiming that Disney would dovetail said promo with the launch of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story back in December. Alas, the arrival of Gareth Edwards’ anthology film proved too soon for the studio’s liking, and though the Mouse House is still playing its cards close to the chest, all signs currently point to a reveal at Star Wars Celebration next month. Adding fuel to that fire today is a new report from Disney’s latest shareholders’ meeting, where CEO Bob Iger touched base on The Last Jedi before unveiling the first reel of...

The final moments of J. J. Abrams’ Episode VII of the Star Wars saga unsurprisngly gave us more questions than answers. For a film that was based around the search for Luke Skywalker, the few minutes at the film’s close of the hermit-like Jedi being found by Rey was scant consolation. Famously Mark Hamill uttered no words, although internet speculation before the release of The Force Awakens pointed to some ridiculous and hilarious speculation of a line he had which was cut. In a first for the saga Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi will pick up right after the end of Episode VII, but what will Luke (eventually) say to Rey?

Having been caught in a litigious he-said-she-said with longtime producer Dr. Luke for two years now, Kesha has left her fans — and the world — wondering: What’s next?
In a Wednesday New York Times Magazine story, the troubled pop star opened up about her contentious lawsuit and the alleged abuse that led to her now seemingly stalled career. Kesha, 29, recently wrapped her F— the World Tour and told the Times she is working on music and has delivered new songs to her label, Luke’s Kemosabe Records. But it is unclear when, or if, the new tunes will be released.

Through the first two acts, Luke Cage has been another solid installment to the Marvel Netflix family. Although the show has operated at a slower pace than Daredevil and possibly even more so than Jessica Jones, it seems to fit the style and tone of the show and it’s setting. Yes, there have been conflicting views between people like Luke, Cottonmouth and Mariah, but each character cares about Harlem and is trying to leave their impact on it. This is what sets Luke a part from the rest though, because he’s the only one with pure intentions that will actually help. Luke Cage is yet

Disclaimer: This post contains spoilers from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and also contains potential spoilers for next year’s Star Wars Episode VIII. Read at your own discretion.
When last we saw Finn in last year’s mega-hit, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, he’d wielded a lightsaber. While he did an okay job of holding his own against the young Sith wannabe, Kylo Ren, it wasn’t quite enough. Kylo gave him a couple slashes (one of which looked as though it caused some pretty bad damage to his spinal cord) and took him down for the rest of the film. Before the credits rolled, we saw him asleep in a hospital bed, receiving a final, friend-zoning kiss from Rey before she headed off in search of Luke Skywalker.
It was never clear what his fate was. Sure, he was alive, but would his injuries continue on to Star Wars Episode VIII,...

We've gotten a few trailers for the upcoming Marvel Netflix series Luke Cage but now they've released part of a scene. It gives us a great look at Luke's powers as well as his personality. In the last trailer for the Netflix series we got a fun nod to Luke Cage's classic comic book costume but it's not really something made for every day wear while trying to stay somewhat incognito. Although, considering this clip, perhaps he should consider going shirtless more often considering the wear and tear on his outfits. Someone get Luke a Target gift card, stat! Hmm, maybe he should just make hole-chic a thing instead? This looks like it might get expensive. The episodes will debut Netflix September 30.

To paraphrase “Ratatouille,” not everyone can act, but a great actor can come from anywhere. The beautiful thing about the movies is that they so often do.
Screen debuts can have such an impact precisely because audiences don’t know these people. We haven’t read about them in the tabloids or seen them in other roles. The best inaugural performances bristle with the rush of witnessing raw potential, of being introduced to something incredible before the world has decided what it is yet. A great debut can make you feel like you’re witness to a happening, or getting in on the ground floor of an investment — watching John Boyega defy an alien invasion in “Attack the Block,” it was immediately clear that learning his name was going to pay off.
Sometimes, as with Lupita Nyong’o in “12 Years a Slave,” that excitement instantly translates into a sensation. Other times,...

TVinsider has debuted the first poster for Luke Cage, the latest collaboration between Marvel and Netflix that's set to hit the streaming service in just a couple of months. This poster, designed by Marvel Entertainment chief creative officer Joe Quesada, will be available at the Marvel booth at this week's San Diego Comic-Con for fans who'd like to score one for themselves.
“There’s always great pressure with superhero posters,” Quesada says. “You’ve got one shot to encapsulate a character with a pose that’s provocative and that you hope will someday be iconic. Mike [Colter] gives Luke a smoldering strength. He’s sexy and calming. And the ladies love it.”
I like the exaggerated, muscular look of the character. It's not quite as insane as Genndy Tartakovsky's upcoming comic, but it's still heavily stylized and has a cool look to it. What do you all think?

Star Wars Tales is a quarterly anthology series published by Dark Horse from 1999 to 2005. Each issue was 64 pages long and contained a variety of stories, in both number, length, content, and tone. Most stories were considered non-canonical “Infinities” stories unless canonized elsewhere (though of course, now all such stories are deemed non-canonical “legends”). In the course of its six year run, Star Wars Tales featured stories from dozens of different creators, covering numerous facets of the Star Wars universe, from serious, thoughtful tales to comedic ones to straight-up fan-demanded “what if?” type stories. Here are ten of the best, entertaining in their own right but also representative of the breadth of content available in this series (all of which are currently available to subscribers of Marvel Unlimited, and were earlier collected into six trade collections that can probably still be found on Amazon and the like).

The original Star Wars trilogy has it.s share of twists and turns throughout the plot. Most of them are based around the revelations of exactly who is a member of the Skywalker family. But amongst all the shocking revelations, there.s one moment J.J. Abrams feels, that in retrospect, is downright disturbing. And it.s probably not the moment you.re thinking of. The realization in The Return of the Jedi that Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia are brother and sister has given numerous fans the heebie-jeebies on every ensuing viewing of The Empire Strikes Back. In that scene, Leia gives Luke a kiss that is decidedly not the sort of affection that siblings normally show each other outside of Game of Thrones. This is not that moment. Rather, J.J. Abrams spoke to Entertainment Weekly about a scene in the very first film and something absolutely terrible ...

Damon bought a pool table! He and Enzo shoot a round while Enzo recaps the recent history of Damon’s awful love life. Damon fires back with a reference to the missing Maggie and Enzo exposits that the shitty Travelers set themselves on fire without revealing her location as promised.
Elena and Caroline arrive at the Grill for a planned lunch with Sheriff Liz, who’s running late. Caroline grabs a table and Elena fugue states her way over while envisioning the end of her “first date” with Stefan, interrupted when her dad flips on the porch light.

Birthday shoutouts go to Christopher Gorham (above, with his family) , who is 38, Halle Berry is 46, Marcia Gay Harden is 53, Steve Martin is 67, and Sarah Brightman is 52???, and in addition to her many accomplishments gave us one of the greatest songs of all time. It's also Tim Tebow's 25th birthday, and below you can see him in a hilarious pose from next month's GQ. Either he's completely clueless, or I have to give him credit for self-parody.

Big Brother housemates Adam Kelly and Luke Anderson have pledged to give each other £5,000 of their prize money if either of them wins the show. The pair, who have become close friends during their time in the house, made the deal after initially suggesting they bet on their chances of victory in Monday's (August 13) final. Believing that Adam had proposed they wager £5,000 on the former La gang member winning, Luke A replied with shock: "I'm not doing that. Have I got five grand to spare?" Both then stated their belief that the other was more likely to win, before shaking hands on a deal to hand over part of their potential £50,000 winnings. In a twist this week, fellow housemates did not nominate each other for eviction but instead their friends and families were responsible.
