The new Texas Chainsaw Massacre video game from Gun Interactive was just released for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One back on August 18th, and the developers have been keeping a steady flow of updates coming ever since. Last month, they announced that a new killer character called Hands will be added to the game on June 11th – and with just a few days to go before that date arrives, they have revealed more information about Hands – including the fact that he’s someone who was originally created by Kim Henkel, Tobe Hooper’s co-writer on the original Chainsaw film, and was the one who inspired Leatherface to start wearing masks of human flesh!
As written on the game’s official website, “Hands is a distant cousin to the Slaughter Family. The talented Robert Mukes (House of 1000 Corpses) brings this 7ft tall, nearly 350 lbs man, to life.

The new Texas Chainsaw Massacre video game from Gun Interactive was just released for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One back on August 18th, and the developers have been keeping a steady flow of updates coming ever since. In recent months, a new map called The Mill was added, along with a new victim character named Virginia – who has the voice and likeness of genre icon Barbara Crampton! Now the game’s developers have taken to social media to tease the fact that a new killer called Hands will be added to the game next month… on June 11th, to be exact.
Details on the Hand character haven’t been revealed, but here’s a teaser clip that shows him menacing Virginia:

A while back, we heard a new killer character, a new victim character (with the voice and likeness of genre icon Barbara Crampton!), and a new map called The Mill (which brings to mind a location from the 2003 Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake) would be added to the game soon – and now we know exactly when The Mill will be available for players to enjoy: March 28th!

The new Texas Chainsaw Massacre video game from Gun Interactive and Sumo Nottingham was just released for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One back on August 18th, and it has been frequently updated since then. A couple weeks ago, it was revealed that a new character portrayed by genre icon Barbara Crampton is being added to the game in an upcoming update – and now details on the character have been unearthed on the game’s official website! The character with Crampton’s voice and likeness is a Victim character named Virginia.
Here are the details: Virginia is a grief-stricken mother who cannot get over the disappearance of her son Jesse. She’s obsessive over his vanishing and refuses to believe that he could be gone. The weight of her pain is so immense she leaves behind her nursing career to move to Newt, TX, the last location Jesse was seen.

I’ve only played a few video games over the last twenty years, primarily Halo online multiplayer and the recent Friday the 13th game that was hindered by lawsuits… and gaming sure is different these days than it was in my time, when a game was released in its complete form and then you just played the hell out of it. Now, if a game doesn’t get very frequent updates, players will abandon it very quickly. For example, the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre video game from Gun Interactive and Sumo Nottingham was just released for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One back on August 18th, and even though it was updated a new map and a couple new characters at the end of November, I’ve already seen gamers complaining that it’s getting stale and will be pronounced dead if there isn’t another update soon.

The new Texas Chainsaw Massacre video game from Gun Interactive and Sumo Nottingham was released for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One back on August 18th, and at the end of last month they added not just a new map (free to all players), but also a couple of new characters that players have to pay to access: a victim named Danny and a killer named Nancy. The motion-capture and vocal performances for Nancy were provided by BAFTA winner Cissy Jones, whose previous credits include the most recent Evil Dead video game. A newly released promo video shows exactly how Jones brought Nancy to life, and you can check it out at the bottom of this article.

The other two film awards went to “Cruella,” which won for period and/or character make-up, and “Being the Ricardos,” which won for period and/or character hair styling.

Generation (Genera+ion) may not continue on for a sophomore season at HBO Max, but creator Zelda Barnz said the series achieved its goal within its short-lived airtime.
“I think its purpose was simply to exist, as something intimate and honest for queer people,” she wrote for Entertainment Weekly. “I’m grateful we got to make this show at all, because there was a great deal of uncertainty in even pitching a show about queer teenagers in such a specific setting.”
Just a day after HBO Max announced that it had opted not to renew the Lena Dunham-produced dramedy for a second season, Barnz penned her thoughts about the cancellation for Entertainment Weekly. In addition to responding to Generation‘s abrupt end, Barnz also explained the final moments of the series finale.

When American oil executive Jack (Philip Winchester) and his wife Lauren (Rebecca Romijn) go on safari with their college-age kids Noah (Michael Johnston) and Zoe and Zoe's boyfriend Billy (Chris Fisher), it's not long before someone mentions the "Big Five" - rhino, lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo. Oscar-winner Al Pacino and Meadow Williams star in American Traitor: The Trial of Axis Sally, the historical drama hitting select theaters this Memorial Day weekend via Vertical Entertainment and Redbox Entertainment. Michael Polish directed the film, which is based on a true story and follows the life of American woman Mildred Gillars (Williams) and her lawyer (Pacino), who struggle to redeem her reputation.
Dubbed “Axis Sally” for broadcasting Nazi propaganda to American troops during World War II, Mildred’s story exposes the dark underbelly of the Third Reich’s hate-filled propaganda machine, her eventual capture in Berlin, and subsequent trial for treason against the United States after the war.

The other family-imperiled-by-rampaging-beasts movie this weekend, “Endangered Species” is different from “A Quiet Place Part II” in many ways, particularly in that its characters cannot stop yakking — with corresponding diminished viewer concern for their survival under extreme duress. Mj Bassett’s South African-produced thriller has a vacationing American clan doing all the wrong things in a Kenyan wildlife preserve. Needless to say, the local fauna quickly notice there are some fresh snacks on the savanna, to our protagonists’ grief.
The squabbling human dynamics make this outdoor suspense exercise one in which too soon we start rooting for the four-legged cast members. Slick and scenic but increasingly silly, by the end it has become perhaps the most preachily wrong-headed wildlife conservation adventure since the notorious “Roar” 40 years ago. Lionsgate is releasing to digital, VOD and limited theaters, with Blu-ray and DVD following on June 1.

"I'm no more equipped to deal with this than any of you." Lionsgate has released an official trailer for an "intense, action packed survival-adventure" film titled Endangered Species, from director M.J. Bassett, of the other blatant "African animals are dangerous" film Rogue from last year. This one follows a wealthy American family who travel to the vast African wilderness of Kenya hoping for a dream vacation filled with excitement, bonding and a chance to fix the growing rifts within their family. But when their safari vehicle is attacked by a rhino protecting her calf, the family is left stranded miles from help and their dream vacation turns into a nightmarish struggle for survival where they're the bottom of the food chain. Starring Rebecca Romijn, Phillip Winchester, Jerry O'Connell, Isabel Bassett, Michael Johnston, Brenda Ngeso. Ayyy this looks like complete junk, vilifying all the animals more than the tourists who come to their home.

2021 Muah Awards: ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’ and ‘Birds of Prey’ Are Top Makeup, Hairstyling Winners
“Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” captured the top period feature prizes for makeup and hairstyling at the 8th annual Muahs Guild Awards Saturday night, making it the prohibitive Oscar favorite for the dramatic transformation of Viola Davis as the titular pioneering blues singer. Davis, who landed her fourth Oscar nomination as the sexy, subversive Rainey — the most of any Black actress — was boldly uncompromising in demanding verisimilitude for Netflix’s adaptation of the August Wilson play. Davis was fitted with gold teeth, charcoal-like makeup, and a wig made of horsehair.

*an online screener of this film was provided by Uncork'd Entertainment. Director/writer: Alexander Babaev. Cast: Margaret Judson, Devin Goodsell, Michael Johnston, Mark Furze and Bobby T. Bornless Ones is an upcoming indie horror release from Uncork'd Entertainment. The film is a demonic possession thriller, which admits its influences, specifically Sam Raimi's The Evil Dead (1981). The film could easily be used as a "What Not to Do" in regards to first-aid. These characters take a lot of damage, with friends causing a lot of the pain. The acting is also decent, despite some of the cast lacking extensive acting experience. The actors sell the film, especially the grimmer parts. This film viewer had only one major complaint, involving demonic possession. The characters's free will is removed, when the demons just takeover their bodies. As it is, Bornless Ones is an enjoyable time spent with a number of bloody scenarios. Horror...

It’s common for adolescents to hide their passions from their peers and family out of fear of humiliation, especially if your passion involves slash fiction, a genre of fan fiction that focuses on the relationships and sexual attraction of fictional characters of the same sex. The new film “Slash” follows high school freshman Neil (Michael Johnston) who writes his slash fiction in secret until he meets the older Julia (Hannah Marks) who pushes him to publish it online. But when the site moderator takes an interest in his stories, a new world opens up for Neil. It co-stars Michael Ian Black (“The State”), Missi Pyle (“Gone Girl”), Tishuan Scott (“Results”), Sarah Ramos (“Parenthood”), Peter Vack (“Mozart in the Jungle”), Violett Beane (“Tower”) and more. Watch an exclusive clip from the film below.

Self-discovery can be a lot dirtier than most coming-of-age movies care to admit, and “Slash” — Clay Liford’s occasionally flat but charmingly empathetic new film about the burgeoning tradition of erotic fan fiction — refuses to shy away from the hot mess of adolescence.
On the contrary, this sweet peek inside the most subterranean of sub-cultures is just as shy and strange as the awkward teen years that most of us have learned to repress. Even if Liford leaves a bit too much to the imagination (and makes the common genre mistake of writing a lead character who expresses natural confusion through unnatural dullness), “Slash” knows how hard it can be to a navigate the world when you don’t know who you are, or what you like, or the ways in which those two things don’t have to define one another.
Neil (Michael Johnston), for example, has no idea how to define himself.

If the sixth and final season of Teen Wolf gets anything right – and, admittedly, it gets quite a few things right – it’s the impending doom of the series finale tucked and wrapped away into as many quick lines of dialogue and nostalgic flashbacks as possible. “They don’t need us anymore,” alpha pack leader Scott admits very early on into the premiere, speaking of his little supernatural hamlet, Beacon Hills; he could be talking about his fans as well, although I predict they would vehemently disagree.
Teen Wolf, as solid as it’s grown over the past five years, already feels a bit like a cutesy relic from a time when vampires were so played out, and werewolves were the logical fallback. The supernatural swamp has been cleaned up to a degree since, and where it hasn’t, it’s instead seeped...

In a few weeks’ time (on November 11 to be exact) the Razor Reel Flanders Film Festival will host the Belgian premiere of Slash, Clay Liford’s latest film. The coming-of-age story centers on two oddball teens trying to find a sexual identity for themselves and also claiming their voice as writers. Did I mention all this happens through the lens of erotic fan fiction? Teen Wolf star Michael Johnston takes a dive into a very different part of online culture than afforded by his regular gig with a starring role in Clay Liford's Slash. The indie comedy following a young man dipping into the world of erotic fan fiction was a big hit at the SXSW Film Festival before launching on an extensive international festival run and with the Us release of the film now scheduled for early December the first proper trailer has arrived online. Neil is a questioning high school freshman whose main social outlet is the steamy erotic fan fiction he writes about Vanguard, the brawny, galaxy-hopping hero of a popular sci-fi franchise. When Neil's stories are exposed in class he is mortified, but the effortlessly-cool...

Writers of erotic fan fiction, you now have your film. Slash looks to unmask that subculture, which I'm sure we are all well aware has been mocked by many, and give a face to the people who write those stories.
In the movie, Michael Johnston plays a teen who gets in trouble for his sexually explicit fan fiction he writes at school. He then meets a girl who tells him she loves his writing, and convinces him to attend a convention for writers of erotic fan-fiction.
The movie is a comedy, because how can it not be, but it appears to be a largely genuine look into the lives of people who write these books and do what we dare not even speak of. I really like the blending of real life and the fictional sequences! Slash arrives in theaters and on VOD on December 9, 2016.

"You write sex like a 12-year-old, and I think you know it. Have you ever even had sex?" Gravitas Ventures has released a trailer for an indie film called Slash, derived from the term "slash fiction" about a couple of gamer geeks who are in for an emotional thrill when their own fan fiction (aka "fan fic") becomes real life. This is actually a goofy, funky coming-of-age story about two youngsters who fall for each other over this "fan fic". The film stars Michael Johnston, Hannah Marks, Violett Beane, and Michael Ian Black. There's a few awkward scenes of them actually reading the erotic fan fic, and the rest of it is pretty cheesy. Not sure if this will be any good unless you are really into the nerdy fan fic scene, but have a look anyway. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster art) for Clay Liford's Slash, direct...

Have you ever wanted steamy fan-fiction visualized into a teen comedy? Well, we have just the thing for you. The first trailer has been released for Slash (its title stemming from the phrase “slash fiction”). Writer-director Clay Liford‘s quirky comedy centers on Neil (Michael Johnston), a freshman in high school who spends his spare time writing erotic slash fiction. After a humiliating encounter reveals his hobby to his entire class, he catches the attention of Julia (Hannah Marks) — who also writes steamy fan fics. She encourages him to share it on an online forum and voila! He catches the attention of the site’s moderator, Denis (Michael Ian Black). Just like that, we have a tangled web of real life and fan-fic romance as Neil falls for Julia, Denis falls for Neil, and maybe Julia just falls for the words… but you know, also probably him.

To celebrate Bi Visibility Day the Razor Reel Flanders Film Festival announces the Belgian premiere of Clay Liford’s Slash as part of the 2016 program. Neil (Michael Johnston) struggles to fit in at school. Expressing himself through writing, his fantasies follow sci-fi action hero Vanguard to far off planets where fights for justice tend to unravel in shirtless skirmishes that embrace same sex entanglements. Passionate about Slash (erotic fan fiction) Neil is ostracized at school but soon finds a kindred soul in Julia (Hannah Marks), a fellow slasher who gets her kicks from Fain Elven fiction. Embracing Neil as her protégé of sorts, the duo explores an unusual writerly passion as a comic con-bound journey of self-exploration checks taboos at the door. In Slash, a...

As lesser films cheaply attempt to capitalize on “nerd” subcultures for nothing but a gimmicky sense of quirk, movies like Clay Liford’s Slash live, breathe and embrace alternative lifestyles. Liford’s vision is admirably honest and passionately open, embracing an unshackled generation with open, accepting arms. As social dialogue channels continue to open, children are given more freedom to express themselves through identity, no longer hiding true feelings like prisoners in a windowless basement. This is the rallying cry for “weirdos,” a love-note to the “unaccepted,” and a denouncement of “strange” that leads through experimentation – less a roadmap, and more a chorus of voices chanting “you’re not alone.” Because you’re not, and no one should be.
