- Ask five people to describe DJ EFN and you're likely to get five different answers. You might hear responses like "Miami mixtape innovator," "A&R and manager," "filmmaker," and podcasting mogul. The thing is, none of those responses would be wrong.
EFN is proud of the grays in his beard, and he should be. The man has put in serious work since he started DJing on local pirate radio stations in Miami in the early '90s. From there, EFN launched Crazy Hood Productions, where he threw parties, dropped mixtapes combining popular hip-hop tracks with local artists making waves, and managed and produced for Da Alliance and Poetik Symbolz. As Da Alliance and Poetik Symbolz made noise on the Miami scene, EFN began managing more artists, including Garcia, Heckler, Wrekonize, and ¡Mayday! In 2001, EFN won a highly-coveted Justo Mixtape award for Best New Mixtape DJ. That year, EFN also co-hosted BET's Rap City.
When N.O.R.E. moved from NYC to Miami in the mid-2000s, EFN helped N.O.R.E. acclimate to the 305 while recording freestyles that would go out to mixshows, mixtape DJs, and hip-hop websites. It wasn't long until EFN and N.O.R.E. were fixtures in Miami, which led to EFN producing N.O.R.E.'s Noreality. EFN would A&R albums for ¡Mayday! and Wrekonize as well as N.O.R.E.'s Student of the Game and Capone-N-Noreaga's Channel 10. In 2015, EFN released his own album, Another Time, featuring original production from legends like DJ Premier and Buckwild along with appearances from Bun B, Scarface, Redman, and Miami legend Trick Daddy.
EFN and N.O.R.E. began Drink Champs, a podcast where the hosts and guests drink their favorite liquor as they talk, in March of 2016. The podcast quickly caught the ears of listeners with captivating conversations and viral clips with artists including DMX, Fat Joe, and 50 Cent. Drink Champs shot to the top of the podcasting world and held their spot, as they have since featured legendary hip-hop artists from the past and present as well as top-tier athletes and entertainers.
EFN and N.O.R.E. have stacked accolades for their work on Drink Champs, as they were twice named to the Hollywood Reporter's Power List. In October of 2022, Drink Champs won Best Hip Hop Platform with Caresha Please. Drink Champs is currently in its eighth year. In January of 2023, Drink Champs signed a new distribution deal with Warner Media Group, where they will be distributed by Interval Presents alongside the Rap Radar Podcast and forthcoming podcasts from Lupita Nyong'o and Jason Derulo. REVOLT will continue to distribute the visual edition of Drink Champs. Drink Champs is consistently in the top 10 music podcasts in the U.S. with over 5 million streams per month.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Brian Kayser
