Hulu today gave a first glimpse of the avidly awaited eight-part series Rivals, based on the celebrated novel by Dame Jilly Cooper and produced by Happy Prince, part of ITV Studios. The series is set to debut on Disney+ in other countries later this year.
Set against the backdrop of the drama, excess, and shocking antics of the power-grabbing social elite of 1980s England, Rivals delves headfirst into the ruthless world of independent television in 1986.
This first wave of images unveiled six iconic characters from the drama. Alex Hassell plays the dashing ex-Olympian, Member of Parliament, incorrigible rake, and dangerously charismatic Rupert Campbell-Black.

TorinoFilmLab (Tfl) has selected 20 projects for its ScriptLab 2023, plus five story editors, in what it describes as the first ‘fully international’ iteration of the annual development scheme.
The 20 projects come from 20 writer-directors and eight co-writers, and have been selected from 550 submissions.

Those selected will take part in three week-long residential modules in April, June and November; with two online modules in September and October. The participants will be divided into five groups, and tutored by script consultants Philippe Barriere, Severine Cornamusaz, Aleksandra Swierk, Marietta von Hausswolff and Gino Ventriglia.

ITV has commissioned The Voice UK coach will.i.am to front Will.i.am: The Blackprint, a documentary examining what it means to be Black and British. Produced by Twofour as part of a season of shows for Black History Month, will.i.am will travel the UK meeting Black Brits and will compare their experiences with his own, having grown up in Los Angeles. Executive producers are will.i.am and Nic Patten. The senior producer is Laetitia Nneke. Other documentaries include Ashley Banjo: Britain in Black and White (working title), in which the Britain’s Got Talent star will examine his own past and Black British history. The film is made by David Olusoga’s Uplands Television.

Celebrating its 10th year anniversary, Les Arcs Industry Village is launching the Talent Village, a new development workshop and platform for emerging talents which will be under the patronage of Danish director Thomas Vinterberg (“The Hunt”).
Kicking off on Dec. 12 and hosted at the Cinéfabrique Film school in Lyon, the workshop will take place over three days — right before the start of Les Arcs Film Festival.
The participants include Poland’s Dawid Bodzak whose short “Tremors” won Grand Prize at Clermont Ferrand;
