Dancer-creator Chachi Gonzales is bringing her acting chops to YouTube Red.
Gonzales, 21, who rose to fame for winning the MTV's America’s Best Dance Crew in 2011, will star in a romantic comedy series for the subscription service called Long Distance. Produced by the Latino-leaning digital media company Mitú, Long Distance is about the struggles of a long distance relationship between a Los Angeles social media manager (Gonzales) and her Chicago-based boyfriend (played by the actor Cayden Boyd).
Also starring in the series is Josh Levya -- a fellow influencer and Gonzales’ real-life boyfriend -- who will play a self-centered social influencer who is in effect Gonzales’ boss on the show. “Admittedly, as an actor it was a bit of a stretch for me,” Levya -- who counts roughly 2 million subscribers on his YoMuscleBoii comedy channel -- joked of his role in the series, “but I take my craft very seriously.

YouTube Red continues to bolster its lineup of shows, partnering with Latino-influenced digital media company mitú to create “Long Distance,” a multicultural rom-com debuting on its platform today. The series centers on La-based social media manager Gaby Márquez (Chachi Gonzales) and her Chicago-based boyfriend Chris Murphy (Cayden Boyd) as they try to, you guessed it, make their long distance relationship work. But 21st century pitfalls like social media, cross-cultural challenges and the presence of Gaby’s handsome new boss, Rafa (Josh Leyva) make it harder than expected. In a year without a single Latino Emmy nominee, Mitú’s goal of creating youth-oriented content.

For the second time, AwesomenessTV will use a guidance counselor’s office as the epicenter of a high school story. The digital media company, which appeals to an audience of teens and tweens, is behind Guidance, a drama that will return for its second season on Go90 on November 14th. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has made a lot of friends in the online video community since launching his official YouTube channel earlier this year. Now, he has invited some of those friends to join him for a haunted seance spectacular. He is the primary star of YouTube’s Room 301 series, which includes several videos shot on the site’s Halloween-themed sets.
The introductory video in the Room 301 was directed by Jesse Wellens of PrankVsPrank fame. A few creators at a time, Wellens’ colleagues in the YouTube community file into a spooky hotel, where a ghostly Rock awaits them. Houston, Texas is best known for oil and cowboys. Like most things, there is way more than meets the stereotype. My favorite Houston secret is Worldfest, a nine day international independent film festival held every April.
What is so great about it? It’s a point of pride for Houstonians because it is the oldest in the world. It was founded in August 1961 as Cinema Arts, and International Film Society. It became the international film festival it is today in April 1968. In all of this time it has been under the care of founder Hunter Todd. His goal was to create a quality film festival for independent filmmakers.
Meh, who cares how old it is. If it’s last power doesn’t impress you, here’s a short list of some of the filmmakers discovered at Worldfest:
Steven Spielberg George Lucas Ridley Scott The Coen Brothers Oliver Stone David Lynch
