A bomb threat was made against the home of Arthur Engoron just hours before the New York judge is scheduled to hear closing arguments in the state’s civil fraud trial against Donald Trump.
According to The Daily Beast, which first broke the story, a source with close knowledge of the situation indicated that early Thursday morning about half a dozen police vehicles and a bomb squad were dispatched to Engoron’s Long Island home.
Nassau County Police confirmed to Rolling Stone that the department is investigating a swatting incident that took place Thursday morning.

John Sauer, Donald Trump‘s lead lawyer in his federal election fraud case, declared that presidential immunity would allow a U.S. president to order Seal Team Six to assassinate a political rival without having to face criminal prosecution.
Sauer made the wild claim for executive immunity at a hearing at a federal appeals court on January 9.
When delivering his statement, he said that only if a president has been impeached and Congress has removed him from office, only then could they be criminally prosecuted.
According to Sauer, this means that Trump is immune from criminal prosecution.
“Could a president who ordered Seal Team 6 to assassinate a political rival, and is not impeached, would he be subject to criminal prosecution?” one judge asked Sauer.
“If he were impeached and convicted first… there is a political process that would have to occur,” Sauer replied.

Update: Former President Trump made remarks after Tuesday morning’s D.C. Circuit hearing on presidential immunity.
But with less than a week before the Iowa caucuses, he seized on the attention of the moment to get in digs at President Joe Biden who, if polls are correct, he likely will face in the November election.
“They’re losing in almost every demographic,” Trump said. “Numbers came out today that are mind boggling if you happen to be Joe Biden.” He countered by claiming that Joe Biden was a “threat to democracy” by claiming his prosecution was politically motivated, even though there is not evidence that the president ordered Trump’s indictment.
Fox News carried Trump’s remarks, even though it did not carry on air the live audio of the hearing itself. CNN carried a portion of Trump’s remarks before going to a fact check and commentary. MSNBC...

This week, the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments regarding Donald Trump’s bid to secure presidential immunity from prosecution on charges related to his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. The Supreme Court will likely review the decision, but Trump is already pushing for indictments against President Joe Biden if things don’t go his way.
Late Sunday night, Trump took to Truth Social to confirm that he planned to attend the hearings in D.C. in person, adding that if he could move to indict Biden,...

The Republican Accountability Pac has created a new ad that calls Donald Trump a “dictator.”
The ad, called “Dictator Donald,” was produced by a Republican group that stands opposed to Trump.
The “Dictator Donald” was posted on YouTube over two weeks after Trump announced that he wanted to be a dictator on “the first day” of a new Trump administration.
The ad warns Americans in the starkest terms about a second Trump term.
The ad starts with a recording of an alarm clock going off at 6:00 a.m.
Next, the ad shows a clip of former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) shown inside an old TV, warning Americans during an interview.
“This isn’t hyperbole,” she claimed. “A vote for Donald Trump may mean the last election that you ever get to vote in.”
“He’s a threat to democracy,” Trump’s Secretary of Defense Mark Esper states in another clip.

Former President Donald Trump has once again utilized his social media platform to spread unsubstantiated information and claimed Liz Cheney engaged in “extreme sabotage.”
This is not the first time Trump has made such allegations, which suggests an effort to deny him access to crucial testimony, video footage and documents necessary for his defense in criminal trials.
Cheney, a prominent critic of Trump within the Republican Party, swiftly shared a link to online materials collected by the investigation in response to his comments. As one of the key figures in the House investigation into Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election results, Cheney has often been a target of the former president’s criticism.
She lost her Wyoming district in the 2022 primary to a candidate endorsed by Trump.
Trump began the year 2024 with an attack on Cheney when he accused her of deleting or destroying evidence from the “January 6 Committee of Political Thugs and Misfits,...

When former President Donald Trump lost the 2020 election, he hired Ken Block’s data mining firm to try and find evidence to back up the wild allegations Trump and his campaign were making about voter fraud. Instead, Block found none, and now his work could be used to help prosecute Trump.
“I’ve received subpoenas from both Jack Smith’s federal investigation into potential crimes related to Jan. 6 and also Fani Willis’ investigation of potential election crimes committed in Georgia,” Block told Rolling Stone in an interview. “All of my...

Attempts to drag Nancy Pelosi into court to berate her on the stand and, hopefully, on live TV. Claims that the Jan. 6 Capitol attack was an FBI frame job, with an assist from Antifa. Conspiracy theories that the 2020 election was indeed “stolen,” supposedly backed up by still-classified documents. Unhinged assertions that President Joe Biden is now secretly, personally orchestrating an unprecedented act of political persecution. Calls to publicly unmask the federal officials and lawyers investigating the former (and perhaps future) president of the United States. Efforts to blame any illegality...

"In the early days, people seemed to believe that we were the people in Pink Flamingos, that we lived in a trailer and ate dog shit," John Waters says. "And we really weren't, obviously. We'd be in prison if we were. But it was a good reaction. It meant the movie worked."

Catch the feelgood soccer movie Believe at the same time it's in cinemas on Sky Movies Premiere. In the Roy of the Rovers-type soccer yarn, former Manchester United coach Matt Busby (Brian Cox) is tempted out of retirement to help out a talented young player (newcomer Jack Smith). Rudderless after the death of his dad, the nipper has been sidetracked into a life of petty crime but the benevolence of Sir Matt could get him back on the straight and narrow.

“It’s not just about football – it’s about dreams”, is a line uttered by Brian Cox’s Matt Busby, in David Scheinmann’s accessible, family drama Believe, a statement that is somewhat indicative of the entire production, as a film that certainly won’t alienate those not quite so informed about football. Instead this is a traditional story of the working class underdog, an area British cinema so often excels – but sadly, not quite as triumphantly in this instance.
The year is 1984, and former Manchester United manager – and legend – Sir Matt Busby is struggling with retirement, missing the adrenaline and exhilaration from a life in the dugout, and haunted by the memories of the Munich Air Disaster, which saw a large proportion of his team and staff killed. However when he stumbles across the talented youngster Georgie Gallagher (Jack Smith), he finds his passion returns, and is inspired to...
