Manuel Garcia Orozco is a composer for Film and TV and a Latin Grammy
nominated music producer. Deeply connected to his native country roots
music, Garcia pioneered scoring traditional music from native local
communities for the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia in 2005.
Under his own label, Chaco World Music, he has produced internationally
acclaimed traditional albums including Las Penas Alegres by Petrona
Martinez, which was nominated for a Latin Grammy for Best Folk Album in
2010.
Garcia holds an M.A. in Film Scoring from NYU Steinhardt where he studied privately with Hollywood composer Ira Newborn, Film orchestrator Sonny Kompanek and concert composer Justin Dello Joio. Also holds a Bachelor's in Music Composition from Universidad El Bosque. His film music has been featured in international Film Venues including the Cannes Film Festival and awarded at The Mexico International Film Festival. Manuel is also the recipient of the ASCAP Foundation's Cy Coleman Award (2010) and The 10th Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra Music Composition Award (2006).
