As many shows do after the death of an actor, we will get a tribute for Bill Paxton on an episode of Training Day this Thursday on CBS in it's regularly scheduled time slot. The episode will be called "Wages of Sin” and will see his costar Kyle Craig (Justin Cornwell) help clear his name after the past comes back to haunt Frank Roarke (Paxton), and threatens the loss of his badge.
On February 25, 2017, Bill Paxton died an untimely death during heart surgery, saddening many friends, family, and fans -- including myself. His resume was exquisite, including his work on Big Love, Twister, Frailty, and Brain Dead.
I admit, I had very low expectations of Training Day, but I decided to watch it for one reason alone; Paxton. I love the show, and he is the main reason. He pulls off the "badguy-yet-goodguy" character Frank Roarke quite well, which was evident from the first episode,...

Antoine Fuqua’s 2001 Training Day is a cop movie classic. Fuelled by the jaw-dropping (and Oscar-winning) tour-de-force performance of Denzel Washington as increasingly loopy Lapd Detective Alonzo Harris, the film wallowed in the fuzzy ambiguity between cops and robbers and raised troubling questions about the limits of police behaviour and their authority – questions that feel increasingly relevant in 2017.
“So,” thought a CBS executive (probably while chomping on a cigar), “the property’s cheap – let’s turn it into a hot n’ sexy police procedural! It’s so easy! Last month, it was revealed that CBS had overcome numerous false starts to secure a pilot order for its planned Training Day series.
Set a full 15 years after Antoine Fuqua’s seminal original, sources close to production claimed that the network would hew closely to Training Day‘s good cop, bad cop dynamic, and CBS has today filled one of those roles. Boarding the pilot to portray a seasoned officer in the vein of Denzel Washington’s unhinged maniac Alonzo is Bill Paxton, who joins the series as Frank Rourke, a “veteran Lapd cop who heads up the Special Investigation Section (Sis).”
Hunting down the worst of the worst, Paxton’s no-nonsense expert lives by the law of the jungle – “King Kong ain’t got shit on me!” – reluctantly agreeing to take Kyle Craig under his wing to show him the tricks of the trade while working in the narcotics division.

Bill Paxton will take on the Denzel Washington role in CBS' upcoming contemporary reimagining of Antoine Fuqua's 2001 corrupt L.A. cop drama "Training Day".
The original film starred Washington as a rogue narcotics detective and Ethan Hawke as his rookie cop partner. The new take is set fifteen years later and follows two new characters in the same style relationship, but effectively swaps the races.
In this version an idealistic young African-American police officer, Kyle Craig, is appointed to an elite squad of the Lapd where he is partnered with seasoned, morally ambiguous detective Frank Rourke (Paxton).
Rourke is a veteran Lapd cop who heads up the special unit and lives by the law of the jungle, chasing the bad guys where the law won't. Frank understandably isn't keen to be babysitting new by-the-book trainee Kyle.
Will Beall penned the new show and will executive produce alongside Fuqua, Jerry Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman.

"Alex Cross", the Tyler Perry-led reboot of the film series based on James Patterson’s forensic psychologist character, opens this Friday. Reviews haven't been kind thus far and it isn't likely to set the box-office on fire.
Yet with a budget of just $23 million (after subsidies), the film will almost certainly make money for those involved. In fact there's already talk over at Summit Entertainment of a sequel being put into the works says Deadline.
A deal is reportedly coming together that would see production company Qed International scoring the rights to Patterson’s novel "Double Cross" to serve as the basis for the next feature.
That book had the now retired Cross hunting down two serial murderers - Dcak, and Cross' former colleague Kyle Craig (aka. The Mastermind).

Alex Cross hasn't opened yet, a follow-up is already in talks. According to Deadline, a sequel to the upcoming Tyler Perry starrer Alex Cross called Double Cross, based on James Patterson's novel, is close to becoming a reality as a deal's coming together. Marc Moss and Kerry Williamson adapted Alex Cross, and whether the scribes will be back for Double Cross, remains to be seen. In the Double Cross novel, Alex's life is calming dawn when he's drawn back into the game to take on a new criminal mastermind. The murders in Washington, D.C. are unlike any that Cross and Detective Briana Stone have ever seen as the Audience Killer sets the stage for his killings for public view. The whole city's on the edge of what will happen next, with the killer hosting a live feed of his website. In the meantime in Colorado, the imprisoned Kyle Craig...

Despite the fact that most of the early reviews are negative (not ours though), Alex Cross will be receiving a sequel in the form of Double Cross, based on the novel of the same name by author James Patterson.
Deadline reports that Qed International, who was behind Alex Cross, are in the process of acquiring the rights to Double Cross, which will once again star Tyler Perry as the titular detective.
If you’re unfamiliar with the novel, you can check out the summary below:
Bestseller Patterson’s 13th “Alex Cross” thriller (after 2006′s Cross) pits the legendary profiler, now retired from law enforcement and working as a psychiatrist in private practice, against two serial killers. Kyle Craig, Cross’s former colleague in the FBI (who was revealed to be the Mastermind, a particularly vicious and resourceful murderer, in 2001′s “Violets Are Blue”), has managed to escape from a Colorado...
