Samuel Pisar was born on March 18, 1929 in Bialystok, Podlaskie, Poland. He was married to Judith Frehm. He died on July 27, 2015 in New York City, New York, USA.
At the age of 13, he was departed to the Nazi death camps in Majdanek, then Auschwitz and Dachau, where he was freed at the age of 16. Unfortunately his parents and younger sister died during the Holocaust.
He worked as a trade advisor to John F. Kennedy in the 1960s.
He received a doctorate regarding law in Harvard University.
He was awarded an Honorary Officer of the Order of Australia in March of 1995. This was because of his service to international relations and human rights.
