He has hiked several of Colorado's Fourteeners: mountains over 14,000 feet in elevation. He and his son participated in 5 charity bike rides of 150 miles each.
Herman grew up in Billings, Missouri, (with a population of 602 at the time) and after raising two children in another rural southwest Missouri town, moved to Kansas City, MO, and made his professional stage debut at age 45.
Herman has a BFA in Acting from (Southwest) Missouri State University, the same college that produced stars such as John Goodman, Brent Sexton, Kathleen Turner, Tess Harper and many other successful film and Broadway actors.
Has worked on stage in live theatre with television stars such as Brent Sexton, George Wendt, Tim Kazurinski and Marcia Wallace.
His daughter, Cassandra (Johansen) Martinez, is a free-lance production accountant working with Blumhouse Productions and his son-in-law, Tony Martinez, is a props master.
Once performed a three week run as Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady (opposite Broadway star Kim Crosby) with a broken foot.
His cousin, Allan Graf, is a highly sought after stunt coordinator and second unit director.
