Could Invincible be getting more seasons on Prime Video? According to Skybound Republic, an investment/crowdfunding site that allows fans to invest in the label, more episodes of the ultra-violent comic book action series are coming. In a since-deleted portion of the webpage, the site said Invincible Season 3 is in production, while the show had been renewed for Seasons 4 and 5. The webpage promotes a video game set in the Invincible universe, which fans can help fund. The crowdfunded project sits at $442,700 as of this posting, with 14 days to go in the campaign.
A portion of the mission statement for the campaign describes why making a video based on a licensed property causes some problems:
“Most crowdfunded video games are centered around indie games, and retail investors rarely have the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of Aaa game publishers. Skybound is developing a highly produced, high-octane blood bath that is anything but indie.

"Invincible" season 2 just wrapped (read our review here). While the long gap after season 1 slowed down the excitement, the second season kept the show's quality soaring higher than a Viltrumite.
"Invincible" may stream on Prime Video, but its origin story lies at Image Comics. Image was founded in 1992 as counter-programming to the Marvel/DC comics duopoly; the founders included '90s comic superstars like Rob Liefeld, Todd McFarlane, and Jim Lee (the man who rebranded the X-Men for the '90s). The "I" on Invincible's costume? It doesn't just stand for "Invincible," but "Image" too.
At Marvel and DC, the publishers own the characters and cycle out writers/artists at the popular ones. Image, on the other hand, specializes in creator-owned comics where writers and artists retain authority. That's why "Invincible" was personally created by Robert Kirkman, author of the comics. The best comic book superheroes tend to stick around awhile. DC’s Batman has been fighting crime in Gotham City since 1939. Marvel’s Spider-Man has been slinging webs since 1962. Even the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, originally launched as a satire of the genre in 1984, are now an established squad and have been for some time.
Along with that longevity, however, often comes an uncertain continuity. There are dozens of versions of Batman, Spider-Man, and the Tmnt that exist across countless storylines in comics, television, film, and beyond. One recent comic book character, however, has no such uncertain continuity. There’s only Invincible … give or take a few infinite multiverses.

As movies and TV shows have become the dominant mode of superhero storytelling, some comic writers have crossed mediums with the characters they pen. Allan Heinberg wrote a brief run on "Wonder Woman" and years later wrote the screenplay for the 2017 "Wonder Woman" movie. Brian Michael Bendis, the defining Marvel Comics writer of the 2000s, sat on Marvel Studios' now-disbanded "creative committee." James Gunn, as the co-head of DC Studios, has brought writer Tom King into the fold.
"Deadpool & Wolverine," which brings the 20th Century Fox side of Marvel into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is the latest example of this; one of the movie's five credited co-writers is Zeb Wells, who also wrote an episode of "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law." For some Marvel Comic fans, however, his name lives in infamy.
Now, Wells' "X-Men" related work is well-regarded. The 18-issue series "Hellions" was like a mutant version of "Suicide Squad...

Amazon’s decision to split season 2 of its epic animated superhero series Invincible into two parts has been received, let’s say … less than warmly.
After the first four episodes of Invincible season 2 finished premiering Nov. 24, 2023 on Prime Video, fans have had to wait a grueling four months without fresh dispatches from Mark Grayson a.k.a. This article contains spoilers for "Invincible."
The initial premise of "Invincible" is what it would be like to be Superman's son and follow in your dad's footsteps. Mark Grayson/Invincible (Steven Yeun) is the son of Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons), Earth's greatest superhero and visitor from the planet Viltrum. Unfortunately, Viltrum is a fascist empire and Nolan isn't as benevolent as he appears.
"Invincible" season 1 ended with a clash between father and son. Nolan beat Mark to a pulp but flew off in grief after realizing how human he'd become. A question lingering at the season's end was when Omni-Man would return — pretty soon, it turned out.
"Invincible" season 2, episode 3, "This Missive, This Machination!" features Mark called to the alien planet Thraxa; the cliffhanger ending is him coming face to face with the planet's ruler, Nolan. Episode 4, "It's Been A While," opens with a flashback montage (scored to a...

The first season of Amazon Prime’s Invincible, an animated adaptation of Robert Kirkman and Ryan Ottley’s comic book series of the same name, became a breakout hit for a number of reasons, and the complex father-son relationship and intriguing plotline were major ones among them. The way the series perfectly synced unprecedented brutal spectacle with strong emotional undertones and relatable characterizations, it was no wonder that the series eventually received a massive fan following, with its second season being one of the most anticipated animated ventures in recent years.
With the first part of the second season of Invincible recently coming to an end, expectations are once again at an all-time high thanks to some of the significant teases provided throughout the season. Spoilers for "Invincible" follow.
Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley's "Invincible" is an unusual superhero comic. It blends the genre's aesthetics and tropes together into a mighty sweet cocktail, yet it eschews the storytelling mode of these comics: the "floating timeline," where no characters age and the status quo remains supreme. No, "Invincible" is the rare serialized superhero story with linear, forward-moving storytelling and, ultimately, an ending.
Not to worry, though; the first season of Prime Video's "Invincible" series mostly adapted the first 13 issues/three volumes of the comic, out of 144 issues/25 volumes. Even with season 2 finally premiering, the series is nowhere near the comic's conclusion. If all goes as planned, fans will be watching the animated adventures of Mark Grayson/Invincible (Steven Yeun) for many more seasons.
That's not to say season 2 hasn't already teased future storylines. Thus far, "Invincible" has taken an adaptation approach similar to "The Walking Dead,...

While elite comic outfits like DC and Marvel grapple with live-action reinvention, Prime Video's Invincible has found its niche. Unrestrained, in almost every sense of the word, by animation and content to keep its expanding universe contained to one series, this irrepressibly violent adaptation of Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley's heroic magnum opus can focus on what matters most: character, story, and a ridiculous amount of head-exploding action sequences.
Boosted by a nigh-impeccable voice cast and a healthy commitment to its comic source material, Invincible Season 1 was quality hard-r superhero TV, imbued with four-color lunchbox appeal and simmering family drama. Season 2 is more, much more, of the same. That's no bad thing.

Debbie Grayson (Sandra Oh) is tormented by a cabinet door that won’t shut. It suffered a shoddy repair job following the calamity that upended Debbie’s life one month ago, when her husband, Nolan (J.K. Simmons), the extraterrestrial superhero known as Omni-Man, revealed his mission to colonize Earth for his homeland of Viltrum. Nolan leveled the city of Chicago, killing thousands of people and nearly murdering their son, Mark (Steven Yeun), before flying off into the atmosphere. Debbie’s frequent trips to the kitchen for glasses of wine culminate in clashes with the door, which remains slightly ajar—a stubborn symbol of the anger and grief that she hasn’t figured out how to compartmentalize.

Being the creator of The Walking Dead comes with its perks, we’re sure. But for Robert Kirkman, it can be a hassle sometimes, especially when you’re around to promote the hotly anticipated second season of Invincible. Following his exclusive interview with TV Insider (soon to come), Kirkman graced us with his signature on several of our Twd merchandise, including some trade paperbacks, TV Guide magazines with the show on the cover, and some blown-up promotional art, among other things. However, the items soon increased in quantity and size before long. See how Kirkman handles it in the abundance of material in the video footage above. Based on the groundbreaking comic book by Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, Invincible revolves around 18-year-old Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), who’s just like every other guy his age — except his father is (or was) the most powerful superhero on the planet.

With a budget less than 20 times that of The Boys and “barely” any marketing, Amazon Prime Video’s Invincible has succeeded through word of mouth and attracting new viewers to the genre, according to its EP Marge Dean.
Dean, who runs Walking Dead maker Skybound Entertainment’s Animation Studio, claimed in a Mia Market keynote today that the streamer spends around 20 times more per episode on The Boys, its smash hit superhero series.
Invincible, however, has at times joined The Boys in Amazon’s top-five most-watched shows, Dean said. The first season of the adult animation from Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman launched in 2021 and a second will premiere in November. Based on the Image Comics series of the same name by Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, the show follows 17-year-old Mark Grayson and his transformation into a superhero under the guidance of his father Omni-Man, the most powerful superhero on the planet.

Season 2 of Invincible is just a few weeks away from its November 3 premiere, and it boasts 18 characters with superpowers confirmed to appear as of now.
The first season of the Amazon Prime Video animated series, based on the Image Comics of the same name by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, tackled darker and more angst-ridden sides of superhero stories.
Unafraid to show blood and gore in its more graphic moments, the show also tackles several poignant conversations about the burdens of expectations, and the danger of deception, among others.

Robert Kirkman, the creator of the “Invincible” comics and series, believes seven to eight seasons of the animated superhero show would be enough to cover the scope of its story.
“I’m trying not to pin it down to a number, because it is somewhat of a moving target. I think in the seven-to-eight-season range seems like it would be enough,” Kirkman said in a recent interview with Polygon. “But there could be some things we move through a little faster, some things we expand. If we’re fortunate enough to go for a good long time, I think that would be enough to cover the entire comic.”

For Mark Grayson, life as a teenage superhero should have felt like a summertime breeze. Instead, it's been a gauntlet of multitudinous agonies. Such are the harsh realities of Invincible, the Prime Video animated adaptation of Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley's comic book series of the same name. The Image Comics series — which ran for 144 issues between 2003 and 2018 — was the type of cape comic in which people got hurt whenever its colorful titans broke into splash-page-level battles. Like, really, really hurt.
