We’ve had a marvellous run of Taskmaster series lately, so when a new line-up announcement is on the horizon, it’s easy to wonder whether the winning streak will continue or if we’re due a dud.
Never fear – Alex Horne and co. have delivered once again, although the series 17 Taskmaster line-up might not be quite what you’re expecting. Instead of the now-traditional Taskmaster family line-up, this time they’ve gone for a veteran from outside the world of stand-up comedy, plus four rising stars with slightly less mainstream recognition than normal. As ever with this show though, anybody you’re not familiar with at the start, you’ll almost certainly love by the end of the series.
The Taskmaster series 17 line-up is: Steve Pemberton, Sophie Willan, Nick Mohammed, John Robins and Joanne McNally! And here they are appearing in the very first trailer for the new run:...

Michaela Coel’s BBC/HBO series I May Destroy You was the big winner at the UK’s Broadcasting Press Guild Awards on Friday.
The limited series, about a woman piecing together the events of her sexual assault, won Best Drama Series, beating competition from the likes of BBC/Hulu series Normal People and Sky’s I Hate Suzie. Coel also walked away with Best Actress and Best Writer.
Collecting her gongs, Coel said: “Receiving this from the Broadcasting Press Guild is particularly meaningful to me, because this is awarded by journalists, the best of which scrutinize the topic, their opinion of it, and interrogate both the world and themselves, as writers within it. I can identify with this, particularly because I May Destroy You was inspired by my own experiences of sexual assault.”

Tom Bennett and Jennifer Saunders lend their skills to a film that has no shortage of talent but is low on good gags
Beattie Edmondson is the tremendous comic performer who made her name in the BBC’s excellent flatshare sitcom Josh, with Josh Widdicombe and Elis James; now, after some walk-on film parts in Bridget Jones’s Baby and Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie, she gets a quirky starring role in this sentimental and worryingly gag-free romantic comedy. She is Sarah, a klutzy singleton hopeless with relationships and everything else, who inherits an adorable pug called Patrick from her late grandmother.
At first she loathes the dog but then grasps that by taking Patrick for walks in the park she gets to meet men, including a hunky vet (Ed Skrein) and a sensitive bloke (Tom Bennett). There’s a cameo for Edmondson’s mum, Jennifer Saunders. An awful lot depends...

Hannah Dunleavy of Standard Issue tells us of an event for International Men's Day - and why it matters.
For this week's Geeks Vs Loneliness, we've invited Hannah Dunleavy, of the brilliant Standard Issue, to chat about somethibng thye're up to for International Men's Day...
When Standard Issue was founded in September 2014, it came from a place of concern about gender inequality and about how so much of the mainstream media panders to such a narrow definition of women, which is not just detrimental but dangerous to women.
But we’re aware that, in order to think about women in a different way, it’s essential we start to think about men in a different way too. With suicide persistently the biggest killer of men under the age of 50, gender inequality is quite literally killing young men. Recent statistics released by the Samaritans showed female suicides were...

We're keenly aware that, whilst our Geeks Vs Loneliness columns on this site reach a good number of people, that there are many more people out there. People who may be having a tough time, or on the wrong side of fortune.
We're thus trying something a bit different to try and reach as many people as we can. With the help of some amazing people, who have donated their time for free, we've put together this short video. Let's show you that first, before we ask a favour of you...
Bluntly, we need your help. Can you help spread the word of this video for us? We're not, to be clear, trying to get website hits - the separate YouTube URL is below...

With six weeks to go until the General Election, the campaigns have well and truly begun as David Cameron and Ed Miliband took part in Sky News and Channel 4's Battle for Number 10 tonight (March 26).
The Prime Minister and the leader of the Labour Party answered questions from a studio audience and Jeremy Paxman - in his first post-bbc broadcast. Kay Burley was also on hand to help lead proceedings.
The overall feeling of the first election programme was that it was well put together, but some disliked Paxman's interviewing style - or frankly were scared by him:

New BBC Three prison-set sitcom Crims, which starts tonight at 9pm, has plenty of Inbetweeners-style fun going for it...
There's an old turn of phrase that goes 'with friends like these, who needs enemies?'. It's also the first thing on Luke's mind when he's arrested for being an unwitting getaway driver for Jason, his girlfriend's brother. Sentenced to two years at Sunnybank Young Offenders Institution, Luke (played by Welsh comedian Elis James) wastes no time at all in making enemies of Marcel, the Twilight obsessed big dog. Now he's needing all the friends he could get, even wide-eyed idiot Jason.
BBC three's Crims is a new sitcom created and written by musical comedian Adam Kay and Grandma's House co-scribe Dan Swimer. 'It's an odd couple sitcom that just happens to be set in a prison' explains Adam. 'We started off with the Luke and Jason, establishing their relationship. Then...
