Mel B, one of the Spice Girls and a former host on America’s Got Talent, will narrate her first TV series. Sky Kids said Tuesday that the Scary Spice will be the narrator of a new animated children’s series called Happy Town.

Exclusive: Sky Kids is developing children’s book Uncle Bobby’s Wedding as an animated special, as David Levine’s Lightboat Media supercharges its focus on stories with LGBTQ+ stories at their core.
Sarah S. Brannen’s story, told through the eyes of a young girl, Chloe, who learns her beloved Uncle Bobby is getting married to his boyfriend, Jamie. Initially concerned that she’ll no longer be his favorite, she realizes she’ll actually be gaining another uncle after a fun-filled day out with the couple.
The kids division of UK network Sky is developing it as a 30-minute special for June 2025, in time for Pride, with former Moonbug Entertainment and Disney exec Levine in active development on the project. Michael Vogel is attached as the writer.

Orion Ross will address the UK’s biggest animation confab with “case studies of how Disney is working in the UK on global series,” he said, “while discussing the evolving opportunities for the UK’s rich and unique ecosystem of animation creators, writers, artists, studios and producers to play a leading role in making new global hits.”
Ross is a big draw for the annual fest. As part of the Disney Branded Television group headed by Ayo Davis, he and his UK-based team develop and produce animated series for Disney’s global channels and platforms including Disney+. Recent and upcoming projects include the Disney+ Originals Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire, Chip ’n’ Dale: Park Life, The Doomies, Magicampers, Dragon Striker and The Sunnyridge 3, as well as the global co-productions Miraculous – Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir.

Rose Ayling-Ellis will star in an ITV drama Code of Silence, playing a Deaf catering worker who is called in support a detective by lip reading the conversations of dangerous criminals. Her interpretation of a gang’s clandestine meetings lead to police unlocking a case but she becomes drawn to a main suspect and pulled into a risky situation as things threaten to spill over into her personal life. Catherine Moulton is writing the series, with ITV Studios-owned Mammoth Screen, the indie behind The Serpent and Noughts + Crosses producing. Tom Leggett and Damien Timmer executive produce alongside Moulton. Ayling-Ellis, a Deaf actress known for her role in EastEnders and winning Strictly Come Dancing, is also developing a comedy-drama about Deaf women dating in London, as Deadline revealed last August.
