Over-the-top action sequences. Bone-crunching fights between titans of the action genre. A popular horror director getting his chance to make a massive-budget blockbuster. Fast & Furious 7 (watch it Here) brings all of those elements to the table. But it’s primarily remembered for being a production that was disrupted by tragedy. And we’re going to look into how it all played out in this episode of Revisited.
Universal Pictures doesn’t have a lot of major blockbuster franchises. In 2012, Jurassic Park had been dormant for a decade and the Bourne Identity movies had lost Jason Bourne. So they really only had Fast and Furious. It makes sense that while they were sending the sixth movie out into the world,...

A little while ago, we dug into the first half of the huge Fast Saga. Initially starting as a series of low-wattage B-movies, the series eventually morphed into mega-budget spy adventures that gave the Mission Impossible and James Bond franchises a run for their money. Of all the movies, Fast Five was undoubtedly the turning point, which took Vin Diesel’s Dom and the rest of the Fast Family to Rio, where they went up against a drug lord and met Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Luke Hobbs.
From there, the series went on and on, enduring the death of beloved Fast Family member Paul Walker, a global pandemic, directors coming and going, and a feud between two of the stars that was so intense that it led to a spin-off movie and lots of hurt feelings. We also got larger-than-life villains, including Jason Statham’s Owen Shaw, who became...

A new coaster themed within the Fast & Furious universe is zooming into Universal Studios Hollywood.
The Los Angeles-based theme park, which is housed next to the Universal back lot, announced Wednesday that construction had begun on the coaster, which will be based on the more than two-decade-long franchise that has earned the studio more than $7 billion at the global box office.
The attraction will feature “innovative and technological achievements,” according to the announcement, that have never been employed to create the new thrill ride. The coaster’s state-of-the-art system will immerse guests in the film’s universe, in line with Universal Destinations & Experiences’ decades of expertise in developing contemporary rollercoasters.
No completion date was announced, and no further details about its storyline are available. But according to Ktla, reported that the coaster’s concept art features cars that drift on the coaster’s track, mirroring the movement of the speeding cars in the films.

It's clear with each new addition in the "Fast and Furious" franchise that these movies are about family, not physics. What began as "Point Break" with cars has evolved into the ever-more-ridiculous exploits of a super spy team stacked with heroes — and villains and villains turned heroes. From racing the streets with the all-powerful Nos to racing into space, this saga left plausibility in their rearview many moons ago. Luckily, for the most part, the movies are held together thanks to the chemistry of the "Fast Family" and action sequences so knowingly bonkers the audience feels in on the joke. As Mark Kennedy summed up in his review for The Associated Press, "Fast X" is pure popcorn lunacy."

Back in 2001, when the first movie of the Fast franchise, The Fast and the Furious, hit theaters, hardly anyone could have predicted that a simple story revolving around a cat-and-mouse game between a bunch of street racers/DVD player hijackers and a bright-eyed rookie cop would generate a multibillion-dollar-earning franchise a decade down the line. But here we are all these years later, with ten movies released as part of three trilogies and the first chapter of the upcoming trilogy, Fast X, already raking in big numbers at the box office. While the NoS-pumped physical law-defying campy fun doesn’t seem to be restrained by brakes or clutches, the makers have charted out the ending of the franchise, and the aftermath of Fast X has provided enough hints that will help viewers assess what the final lap will look like. We would like to discuss it briefly, thereby joining the...

Buoyed by over-the-top stunts, the "Fast & Furious" franchise has never been subtle about much of anything, and this is especially true for retcons. Over the course of ten popcorn flicks, the series has introduced more than one long-lost #family member. In "Fast & Furious 6," Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw (first known as Ian Shaw) materialized as the brother of Luke Evans' villain, Owen Shaw. Just two years ago, "F9" revealed that the head of the family, Vin Diesel's Dom Toretto, had his own long-lost brother, Jakob (John Cena).
The trend continues in "Fast X," which, as others have pointed out, really missed out on the chance to call itself "Fast10 Your Seatbelts." The tenth "Fast & Furious" film has earned praise for the way it seamlessly integrates Jason Momoa's Dante Reyes — a contender for the franchise's best baddie, writes /Film's Rafael Motamayor — into footage from "Fast Five.

For over two decades now, the Fast Saga_, trashing the ancient city of Rome with a giant flaming bomb.
But, the thing with going a quarter-mile at a time is, sometimes you realise you’ve gone a quarter-mile in the wrong direction – and a quick fix is needed to keep everything just about on-course. Through the Fast & Furious franchise, characters have been brought back from the dead, timelines have shifted around, destinies have been rewritten, and never-spoken-of siblings have come to light, all in the service of – as Vin Diesel once so wisely put it – the movies. So, in honour of Fast X hitting the big screen – with yet more characters who are blood relations of familiar faces, people you thought were long dead, and revisiting of scenes from previous films – strap in for a Nos-boosted tour through the Saga’s most spectacular (and spectacularly stupid) rewrites.

Heavy spoilers for "Fast X" to follow.
"Fast and Furious" villains are as wildly different and escalating in goofiness. The franchise has evolved from being about street racers and low-stakes crime to an epic saga about family on the world stage, with seemingly immortal heroes matched by cartoon villains with plans to control nukes and other super weapons.
While plenty of the villains in the franchise are just drug lords and megalomaniacs with control issues who are rather forgettable, the best villains are the ones who take things personally. They don't care about profit or world domination nearly as much as they care about causing the family harm. Out of these, one stands out as by far the most stylish, unhinged, and dangerous villain the franchise has ever seen, Jason Momoa's Dante Reyes.
While Reyes is new as a villain, he has been here for a long time, watching and preparing from the shadows.

Cars. Family. Willing suspension of disbelief. These three words can basically sum up the two-decade sprawling franchise of the “Fast and Furious” saga. While the premise of the movies has transitioned from more grounded illegal street racing to pure nonsensical fun action heists, it’d seem the relevance of the franchise is fighting against time, but the box office numbers have to say otherwise. However, nine movies—which are part of the original series, one spin-off movie, and even an animated series—later, the franchise is going to end its lap with a movie trilogy, starting with the first part, Fast X, which is releasing this week. With numerous actors already associated with this ever-expanding action franchise, it’s easy to lose track of everything regarding the main narrative. We will like to bring viewers up to speed by trying to chronicle the important events in the “Fast and Furious” franchise.

"Fast X," which is set to hit theaters on May 19, will mark the beginning of the end of the Fast and Furious franchise. Initially, the series was meant to wrap up with a two-part finale. However, at the "Fast X" premiere in Rome, Italy, on May 12, Vin Diesel, who's led the franchise as Dominic Toretto since 2001, teased the movies could end with a trilogy instead. Although he didn't officially confirm or deny anything, his co-star Michelle Rodriguez (Letty Ortiz) fueled the rumors by telling Fandango, "It's three acts in any story."
If it's true, then the series will officially end after 13 movies. Castmembers like Diesel, Rodriguez, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, and Ludacris have starred in the majority of the "Fast and Furious" films, while Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham led the 2019 spinoff film "Hobbs & Shaw." With 2001's "The Fast and the Furious," a franchise that loves badass (and illegal) street races and fast cars was birthed. We've come a long way since the first film that started it all — since Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and Brian O'Connor (Paul Walker) raced together to dodge a fast-approaching train, the stakes have only gotten bigger, with the fate of the franchise's world being at stake. There's something larger-than-life about the increasingly audacious set pieces in the "Fast & Furious" franchise, which loves all vehicles apart from the cars it loves to race, drift, and launch into the air to perform near-impossible stunts. Ludicrous action scenes are thrown into the mix, including an old Pontiac Fiero being hurled into space while two characters are still inside in "F9." How a long-enduring franchise managed to jump from cool-as-heck, ground-level street racing to vehicles crashing into a satellite in space is mind-boggling.

"Fast & Furious" is one of our greatest movie franchises, one that isn't afraid to let go of continuity for the sake of reinventing itself. Perhaps more than any other series of movies — other than "Mission: Impossible" — the "Fast & Furious" films are guided by only one principle: the rule of cool. Whether that's racing a submarine, driving on an endless airport runway, or literally going to space, there is no limit to what the family can do.

Vin Diesel‘s constant activity on Instagram has yielded at least one very good result: getting Helen Mirren to join the social media platform!
During the “Fast X” junket in Rome on Thursday, the Academy Award winner spoke with Et’s Nischelle Turner and shared it was actually Dom Toretto himself who got her into Instagram nearly a decade ago.
“It was Vin and his team who sort of first introduced me to Instagram,” Mirren said. “That was, like, I don’t know how many years ago — seven years ago? — but it was a world I wasn’t really aware of and they went, ‘Oh, no, Helen, you’ve gotta do this.'”
And she did. Mirren joined Instagram in December 2016 and very quickly distinguished herself as a master of selfies, though it’s a title she may not exactly agree with.
“I’m not very good at it,” she quipped.

The Fast and Furious franchise has had its fair share of unforgettable villains, including Johnny Tran (Rick Yune), Carter Verone (Cole Hauser), Owen Shaw (Luke Evans), Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), and Cipher (Charlize Theron) to name a few. Each character is larger than life and knows how to disrupt the Fast family dynamic. However, a new nemesis with a significant axe to grind is about to enter the driver’s seat for Fast X, and Michelle Rodriguez says he’s the best male villain yet. I’m talking about Jason Momoa’s Dante Reyes, of course.
Speaking on Collider Ladies Night to promote the upcoming release of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Rodriguez said Momoa’s Reyes is the best male villain the Fast & Furious franchise has ever had.
“Revenge with a smirk. It sounds light, but when you see [the movie], you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.

There's perhaps no other blockbuster series out there that can compete with the likes of the "Fast and Furious" movies when it comes to original and formidable villains. Remember the first film way back in 2001, in which Johnny Tran was a driver antagonist who was obsessed with Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto? Or how about Deckard Shaw in "Furious 7," who was a driver antagonist obsessed with Dom Toretto? And let's not forget Cipher, the antagonist who mostly relies on AI to do her driving for her but is also obsessed with Dom Toretto.
Okay, fine, so the villains in this franchise have a history of being somewhat, uh, lacking and one-dimensional as far as motivations go. Chances are, it'll usually come down to people with a knack for driving really fast who also happen to have a pretty big grudge against everyone's favorite bald, muscle-bound driver extraordinaire and his family.

Fewer franchises work as hard as "Fast & Furious" when it comes to crafting high-speed soap opera nonsense. Each new entry begs the question: how the hell are they going to top the insanity of what came before? You'll remember that "F9" saw Roman (Tyrese Gibson) and Tej (Ludacris) driving a rocket-fueled Pontiac Fiero into a satellite while in the reaches of outer space. Everyone made jokes, but this team just went ahead and did it (and consulted with NASA rocket scientists to work out the logistics). Naturally, that leaves so much room for the highly-anticipated "Fast X" to take this journey to the next level.
I think it's safe to say that they have, going off of the ludicrous new "Fast X" trailer. For the past few entries, "Fast & Furious" made their trailer releases an entire event. On top of wanting to put on a show for the...

Coinciding with its “bigger and louder” trend, The Fast and the Furious franchise significantly upped its villain game as the series progressed. Bad guys in the early entries are forgettably bland, but the latter films feature some incredible villains.
In this ranking, we’ve excluded characters who were antagonists but not true villains, heroes briefly coerced into turning heel, and garden variety henchmen. The caveat to this is the Shaw brothers, who were the villains of the sixth and seventh films but eventually allied with the heroes (we can only assume they were redeemed by the sheer power of Family). But since they were villains, they remain on the list.
14. Johnny Tran

We all know that Vin Diesel is a big fan of the Family element in the Fast & Furious movies. And particularly that of his character, Dominic Toretto. As time moves forward for the Fast crew, Dom's young son Brian is aging up too, and will be played in Fast X by Leo Abelo Perry.
The child Toretto had with Elena Neves (Elsa Pataky), in 2017’s Fast & Furious 8 he was kidnapped as an infant along with his mother and used by Cipher (Charlize Theron) to blackmail Dom. Though Elena is eventually killed, he is rescued by Deckard (Jason Statham) and Owen Shaw (Luke Evans), and Dom names him after his friend Brian O’Conner (the late Paul Walker). In 2021’s Fast & Furious 9 he's seen living with Dom and stepmom Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) at their farmhouse.

There will likely be several people who will criticize the need to bring back Gisele from the Fast and Furious movies, but many fans will no doubt welcome her back with open arms. Plenty of people believed that Gisele had died saving Han back in the sixth movie when the team had to take on the villainous Owen Shaw, aka Luke Evans. Given the speed at which the team and their enemies traveled down the tarmac as they attempted to stop Shaw, it was understood that Gisele had willingly sacrificed herself to save Han. Over the Fourth of July long weekend, the action flick is expected to add another $32.9 million to its gross from 4,203 theaters, raising its cume to a stunning $126 million. In the film’s debut last weekend, it earned $70 million, smashing the record for the highest-grossing opening since the onset of Covid-19. “F9” has surpassed the $100 million benchmark in record time, an honor that only two other films during the pandemic — “A Quiet Place II” and “Godzilla vs. Kong” — have been able to achieve.
“F9” stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster and Sung Kang. Helen Mirren also makes an appearance as Deckard and Owen Shaw’s mother. Justin Lin, who has helmed several films for the “Fast and Furious” franchise,...

When the Fast and Furious franchise started in 2001, it’s doubtful anyone working on it expected they were launching a mythology so trenchant it’d still be going 20 years later in a film with the words “Fast Saga” in its full title. But here we are on the opening weekend of F9: The Fast Saga, and the series is so beloved it’s expected to resurrect the theatergoing box office once more. And you know? Thank goodness, mi familia.
Sometimes there’s nothing nicer than spending your summer situated around a grill with a couple of cold ones, reminiscing about old times with loved ones. And if we ever spent a full day at one of the Toretto clan’s barbecues, we’d likely hear a lot more exciting tales that begin with “remember that time…” After all, what other family can talk about that time they stole a literal...

“F9,” the ninth installment in the “Fast and Furious” franchise, is on its way to breaking a pandemic-era domestic box office record with an estimated $68 million debut.
The action film, starring Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez, raked in $30 million on Friday alone from 4,179 theaters. If its sales to continue to progress at a similar rate over the weekend, “F9” is set to smash the pandemic-era box office record currently held by “A Quiet Place Part II,” which debuted to $48.3 million.
The prediction bodes well for the return of moviegoing, as “F9” has opened in the highest number of theaters since the start of the pandemic. It’s also expected to be the highest-grossing box office debut since December 2019’s “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.”
Along with Diesel and Rodriguez, “F9” also stars Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster and Sung Kang. Helen Mirren also makes an...

So quick question: How many folks in your theater stayed for the end credits of F9, the 10th film in the Fast and Furious saga? I know I can say everyone did in mine. That’s because with summer blockbusters back, we’ve all remembered our training to be good little Pavlovian dogs and stay for a treat after the film fades to black. And F9 just gave a juicy one too.
In a nondescript gym/vaguely insidious lair, Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw beats a full-sized punching bag until his knuckles probably bleed. Only then do we realize he’s keeping some poor bastard wrapped up inside of the target. Full disclosure: I wasn’t sure if that was Otto—the sniveling silver spooned traitor who was working with John Cena’s Jakob in F9. He was honestly too smeared in blood to know for sure,...

“F9” is racing toward a pandemic era box office record after nabbing a mighty (at least for plague times) $7.1 million in Thursday previews.
The homage to living life “a quarter-mile at a time,” in the words of one Dominic Toretto, is providing a welcome dose of adrenaline to a cinema business that’s been stalled out for months, as audiences slowly creep back to multiplexes and vaccination rates continue to rise. It is expected to gross between $60 million to $70 million in North America this weekend, which would easily top the $48.3 million that “A Quiet Place Part II” brought in over its first weekend in theaters. That was the high-water mark for domestic debuts in the Covid era.
It’s worth noting that the gross is somewhat diminished from its predecessors, partly because the situation in Canada lags behind the U.S. and partly because audiences haven’t returned to pre-coronavirus levels.

When “The Fate of the Furious” came out in 2017, some fans were very angry that Deckard Shaw would be allowed to have the chance to redeem himself for Han’s murder. Those water have been muddied significantly with “F9” now that we know that Shaw didn’t actually kill Han (Sung Kang). This development gives Shaw and Han basically the same story that Gisele had with Letty — she helped the bad guys murder Letty in the fourth movie, helped Dom and Brian catch Braga at the end and became part of the #family, and then it turned out Letty wasn’t dead anyway.

The distance that the Fast and Furious has traveled from its meager beginnings, being about hijacking trucks and living the life that one quarter-mile at a time, has given way to fighting hand to hand with international terrorists and performing stunts that even Jackie Chan would say ‘hell no’ to. This time around the team is up against the older brother of a terrorist they took out in the previous movie, Owen Shaw. The only thing is, Deckard Shaw isn’t quite as refined as his brother and takes out an entire hospital just to see his brother and swear that

Ever since breaking away from its roots as a series of popcorn flicks about illegal street racing, Universal Pictures’ Fast Saga has been stacking its roster with increasingly big-name actors. In a recent interview with MTV International while promoting the franchise’s latest installment, F9, perennial wheelman Vin Diesel indicated that the marquee actor he dreams of adding to the Saga‘s credits for the next outing, Fast & Furious 10, is Academy Award winner Dame Judi Dench.
The choice may seem an unexpected one, but Diesel did work with Dench on his 2004 project The Chronicles of Riddick, in which she played the air elemental Aereon. Beyond their professional connection, Dench also possesses a solid pedigree in spy-fi cinema, having played M across seven James Bond films beginning with Pierce Brosnan’s 1995 GoldenEye and culminating with Daniel Craig’s 2012 Skyfall, in which the then-78-year-old Commander of the Order of...

Earlier today, the first trailer for Fast & Furious 9 began making the rounds, and unsurprisingly, fans have been freaking out about Han’s return to the series. The level of excitement is understandable – after all, actor Sung Kang’s last major role in the franchise was nearly seven years ago – but his casting does raise a couple of questions. What exactly happened during the events of Tokyo Drift, and how is Han returning from the grave, so to speak?
Let’s address that first question. As longtime fans know, the series tends to play fast and loose with its timeline, as some movies have acted as either sequels or prequels to past installments. Specifically, despite being the third film (in terms of release date), Tokyo Drift actually takes place after the events of Fast & Furious 6, which explains how Han was able to appear on-screen despite his death.

Like any real family, the cast of the Fast & Furious franchise have been having some ups and downs recently. Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel may have put their highly public feud to bed, but things were so heated between the two at one stage that they didn’t shoot any scenes together for the eighth installment. This played a huge role in the development of the series’ first spinoff Hobbs & Shaw, which led to Tyrese Gibson taking plenty of social media potshots at his former co-star.
Hobbs & Shaw would go on to become one of the biggest movies of the year, earning over $750 million at the box office and proving that the Fast franchise still has plenty of mileage left, while the ninth main entry is currently shooting amidst rumors of Johnson possibly returning to the fold in a cameo appearance. Ever since the very beginning, the Fast & Furious franchise has been based on the idea of family. Over nearly 20 years, eight movies and one spinoff, that family has only gotten bigger, with the recent entries in the series introducing countless new characters, bringing the size of the ensemble cast up to massive proportions.
The currently-shooting Fast & Furious 9 is no exception, and while a couple of high-profile names may or may not be missing from the roster following the recent success of spinoff Hobbs & Shaw, Justin Lin’s return to the franchise features a mix of both familiar faces and new recruits. Joining franchise stalwarts Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris and Jordana Brewster are the returning Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron alongside newcomers John Cena, Michael Rooker and Cardi B.

There is no one quite like Dwayne Johnson, who, after spending eight years as a professional wrestler for the WWE (where his nickname “The Rock” was born) transitioned to becoming one of today’s most bankable actors. Johnson has now become a blockbuster king, pulling in big dollars for films such as “Get Smart,” “Moana,” “Jumanji” and of course the expansive “Fast & Furious” franchise.
It was in 2004, after winning several championships, that the Rock made his first transition to the screen — well, aside from his television appearances on the WWE, where he garnered record-number views for the network. Some of his first credits include 2001’s “The Mummy Returns,” 2002’s “The Scorpion King” and 2003’s “The Rundown.” And despite his belated foray into the acting space, Johnson has quickly cemented his space on the big screen, taking on commanding and powerful roles that it seems only someone with his experience could do.

With “Hobbs & Shaw” hitting theaters this weekend, TheWrap takes a look at the wildest scenes from the last 18 years of the “Fast and Furious” franchise.
The late Paul Walker’s facial expression says it all: there’s just pure and utter fear pulsing through this scene. And they barely come away from their stunt unscathed.
Somehow, Letty and Dom survive a hurling gas tank — that’s in flames, no less — flying their way, after Letty herself pulls off a bad a– heist.
Not only do they have to race each other over a bridge but one just Has to triumph and jump over the other jumping over the bridge. Naturally.
Paul Walker sure knows how to make an entrance — and how to destroy a boat.
Thank the heavens that someone knows how to drift smoothly enough through a crowded intersection in Tokyo.
In staying with the drifting… there is nothing...

Prior to April 2017, Helen Mirren and the Fast and Furious franchise are two things we’d never imagine would belong in the same sentence. And yet, here we are.
As Magdalene Shaw, she was the kick-ass mother of the roguish Deckard (Jason Statham) and Owen Shaw (Luke Evans), and even helped Vin Diesel retrieve his long-lost son in Fate of the Furious – Mama Shaw’s heroics know no bounds, it seems.
But now that F. Gary Gray’s petrolhead sequel has cruised all the way to $1.16 billion worldwide, Universal is beginning to compose another two entries in its lucrative franchise, beginning with the so-far untitled Fast and Furious 9. Aside from a tentative 2020 release date and rumors of Justin Lin returning at the helm, the Powers That Be have been keeping everything under wraps. Leave it to Helen Mirren, then, to break the silence and toss her hat into the ring.

When The Fast and the Furious was released in June 2001, the signs did not portend its eventual future as one of cinema’s most durable and lucrative franchises. The original film, based on a magazine article about street racing, didn’t feature any A-list stars and wasn’t expected to make a dent in a summer featuring “surefire” box-office hits like Pearl Harbor, Tomb Raider and Planet of the Apes.

Assorted recommendations inspired by the multifarious sequel.Sorry, Marky Mark, but you’ve already got a car-based franchise.
By the time you’re done watching The Fate of the Furious, you’re likely to have forgotten some of its distinctly differing parts. The sequel begins as one thing then becomes another and another and another, delivering a thrilling mix of action sequences that don’t quite fit together as a fluid and cohesive whole.
I was reminded of a number of dissimilar movies while watching the eighth Fast and the Furious installment, so this week’s list of recommendations could be an even more mixed assortment than usual. But I have no interest in prescribing bad-tasting medicine like The Game Plan in response to Dwayne Johnson’s soccer dad scene. I’m also ignoring Jason Statham’s cheeky insult reminding Johnson and us all of his dumb Hercules movie.

So much of Universal’s marketing blitz for The Fate of the Furious has been concerned with Dominic Toretto going rogue that no one has stopped to ask the question: how does Helen Mirren factor into F. Gary Gray’s blockbuster sequel? Well, wonder no more.
Proving those early rumors to be true, we know that the esteemed actress will play the part of Magdalene Shaw opposite Vin Diesel and the rest of the Toretto gang. As mother hen to both Owen (Luke Evans) and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), Helen Mirren looks set to enjoy a crucial role in determining The Fate of the Furious, and up above you’ll be able to take a peek at her character dishing out a slap or two. Given the circumstances of their meeting – Dom walking out on family, Magdalene reuniting with her son(s) – we’re intrigued to find out whether Helen Mirren...

The Fate of the Furious largely rests on the burly shoulders of Dominic Toretto in the latest, show-stopping trailer for Universal’s action sequel.
Not to be outdone by Optimus Prime’s decision to go rogue in Transformers: The Last Knight, F. Gary Gray’s imminent blockbuster will see Vin Diesel’s series stalwart turn his back on his nearest and dearest, seemingly under the influence of Charlize Theron’s alluring Cipher.
Such a change of heart is enough to send shockwaves throughout the Toretto crew, which is forced to join forces with old adversaries (read: Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw) in the face of a common enemy. Another character that’s been tossed into the mix for The Fate of the Furious is Helen Mirren, a self-confessed fan of Universal’s action flagship, who signed on to play Mama Shaw.
Indeed, her inclusion opens up an avenue for Luke Evans...

Mirren’s done the assassin thing alongside Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman in the Red movies, so she could certainly handle her own opposite Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson. Word has finally broken as to her role, and it sounds... interesting.
Yahoo! Movies recently interviewed Luke Evans, one of the stars of the Fast & Furious 6, and learned that Mirren would play his character’s mother.
