Summer is heating up thanks to Grammy-nominated country band Midland and Bud Light’s Easy to Summer jam. On Tuesday, August 15, Midland plays Oklahoma City as part of the Bud Light Backyard Tour.
The band promises nonstop fun for those who can attend. “Bud Light has invited us to be part of such a unique and intimate experience for the fans,” Mark Wystrach told Showbiz Cheat Sheet.
“But yeah, I think these kind of these outside of the box events are something that definitely we really look forward to,” he added. “And, you know, the idea is always to give the fans the best experience possible. We feel like we have the greatest fans in the world. So for them to have an opportunity to see us, someplace like in a backyard setting in the summertime, cold beer. A chance to kind of really engage, and interact with the fans,...

Look, it’s easy to shake your head over Texas these days. The governor can’t keep the lights on, nincompoop senator Ted Cruz spends his time thinking about Pete Davidson, and the state is restricting women’s rights while loosening gun laws. But Jonathan Terrell, a Longview native fond of using phrases like “let me throw some bacon in the pan” when he’s making a point, will make you appreciate all that’s still great about the Lone Star State with his new song and video “Texas.”

Midland follow up last summer’s teaser EP The Last Resort with their third official full-length album. Titled The Last Resort: Greetings From, the record arrives May 6.
Ahead of its release, the country trio of Mark Wystrach, Cameron Duddy, and Jess Carson, offer a preview of the LP’s tone with the Jimmy Buffett-evoking title track “The Last Resort.” It’s a get-out-of-town song, with the southernmost point of Florida as the destination. Wystrach sings about hitting “every bar on A1A” (the highway to Key West) while lamenting...

There is a scene in Midland: The Sonic Ranch, a new documentary about the unexpected formation and success of the country music trio Midland, in which future bandmates Mark Wystrach and Cameron Duddy argue about the proper emphasis of the word “although” in a song lyric.
“Make ‘although’ two words,” Duddy, from the control room, instructs Wystrach in the vocal booth. “Put a beat in between.”
Wystrach, out of sight, doesn’t quite follow. “Dude, slow down,” he says. “What are the two words?”
“‘All’ and ‘though,'” Duddy replies,...

Midland: The Sonic Ranch reveals the trio of Mark Wystrach, Jess Carson, and Cameron Duddy coming together for the first time and figuring out their signature mix of country that splices together Bakersfield, George Strait, Gary Stewart, and Urban Cowboy.

Midland took their name from a Dwight Yoakam song (“Fair to Midland”), and they nod to the neo-traditionalist once again in the title of a new acoustic Ep. Guitars, Couches, Etc., Etc., an allusion to Yoakam’s 1986 album Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc. Etc, features bare-bones renditions of some of the country trio’s songs.
Hits like “Drinkin’ Problem,” “Burn Out,” and “Cheatin’ Songs” get the stripped-down treatment, along with the early fan favorite “Fourteen Gears” and the Let It Roll standout “Fast Hearts and Slow Towns.” Band members Mark Wystrach, Cameron Duddy,...

The members of Midland and Chris Shiflett do their best to cope with technological limitations in a new episode of the Walking the Floor podcast, recorded remotely on a Zoom call during the Covid-19 pandemic.
This time, all four participants were in different spots — Shiflett at his home base in California, Midland singer Mark Wystrach at his family’s ranch near Tucson, Arizona (and struggling mightily with wifi), and Cameron Duddy and Jess Carson at their respective homes in Texas. So it’s a little surprising that the “Mr. Lonely...

Along with seven hours of big cat intrigue, alleged murder, accidental shootings, and unsolved arson, Netflix’s docuseries Tiger King has gifted us with some outrageously cheesy country songs, all sung (or at least performed) by zookeeping country wannabe Joe Exotic. “Here Kitty Kitty” is a swampy murder ballad and “My First Love” is a heartfelt same-sex love song. But it’s “I Saw a Tiger” that has wormed its way into our hearts — and into the hearts and minds of country artists too.

Two and a half years after their debut LP On the Rocks introduced the world to Midland’s infinitely fun, boot-stompin’ Eighties-country-in-an-Instagram-filter sound, their new single finds the trio not planning to leave the honky-tonk anytime soon. “Mr. Lonely” is a mischievous, Texas dance hall-inspired tune in the spirit of Eddie Rabbitt written by the band (singer Mark Wystrach, guitarist Jess Carson and bassist Cameron Duddy) alongside Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne.
Complete with a pedal steel solo from Paul Franklin and some boogie guitar, “Mr. Lonely” is a tongue-in-cheek...
