The Broadway cast of Hamilton will star Miguel Cervantes in the title role when the hit musical resumes performances at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on September 14.
Cervantes had only recently started playing the role on Broadway when the production, along with the rest of the industry, shut down in March 2020 due to the Covid pandemic. The actor had previously portrayed Hamilton in the Chicago production.
Casting, including Cervantes, for the show was announced today by producer Jeffrey Seller. In addition to the lead actor, Hamilton will feature Krystal Joy Brown as Eliza Hamilton; Mandy Gonzalez as Angelica Schuyler; Tamar Greene as George Washington; Jin Ha as Aaron Burr; James Monroe Iglehart as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson; Euan Morton as King George III; Fergie L. Philippe as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison; Aubin Wise as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds and Daniel Yearwood as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton.

At the risk of overgeneralizing, why is it that cheapie musicals are so much more charming to watch on screen than they are when some friend invites you to whatever way-off-Broadway show they’ve managed to get mixed up in? Heck, these tiny film projects are often more endearing than the relatively big-budget ones the Hollywood studios produce. I’ll take “Colma” over “Cats” any day, and would watch “Once” ten times before sitting through “Into the Woods” again.
Big and bombastic works great on stage, but tends to look garish and awkward on screen, whereas scrappy tuners somehow feel more sincere when the camera can go in for a closeup, à la “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” and “Hello Again.” That strategy — of letting the actors’ faces sell the emotion behind frequently corny lyrics — saves the day in Jack Danini’s “Ode to Passion,” a micro-budget contemporary rock musical...

The cast of Cats was simply 'purr-fect' see what I did there at their recent visit to Broadway Sessions. Cast members took to their songs like cats to cream oh, dear God, as well as giving us insight in the complicated and ever so flushed out dramaturgy of the CATs society who likes who, who fights who etc..Besides fantastic performances cast members helped our audience find their inner Cat with makeup tutorials and choreography lessons..the 'kitten caboodle'. Ok, I'm doneEnjoy performances by Jessica Hendy, Christopher Gurr, Francesca Granell, Christine Cornish Smith, Richard Todd Adams, Madison Mitchell, Giuseppe Bausilio, Harris Milgrim, Kolton Krouse, Nathan Patrick Morgan, Sharrod Williams and Sara Jean Ford. Rising Star Hana Freeman.
