Jodie Comer is heading toward disturbing events after signing on to her latest film project with Kenneth Branagh, The Last Disturbance of Madeline Hynde. Branagh wrote and will direct the new film. Plot details are scarce, but Deadline’s exclusive report says The Last Disturbance of Madeline Hynde is a contemporary psychological thriller, with production kicking off in August in the UK.
Belfast producers Tamar Thomas, Laura Berwick, Becca Kovacik, Matthew Jenkins, Maximum Effort’s Ashley Fox, and Johnny Pariseau will join Branagh for the new film.
As Deadline points out, Comer’s signing onto the project is a significant boon for Branagh’s latest yarn. She’s an extraordinarily busy actress, so something about Branagh’s project must have caught her attention. After wrapping Killing Eve, Comer joined the cast of the Jeff Nichols crime drama The Bikeriders. Comer plays Kathy in the upcoming film, which also stars Austin Butler,...

Ilana Glazer is taking her “Broad City” persona to the next level: parenthood. Glazer co-wrote coming-of-age buddy comedy “Babes” with Josh Rabinowitz to chart the hilarity of becoming a parent while still being very much an adolescent at heart.
“Babes” follows inseparable childhood best friends Eden (Glazer) and Dawn (Michelle Buteau), two New York City natives who find themselves in different phases of adulthood. When carefree and single Eden decides to have a baby on her own after a one-night stand, their friendship faces its greatest challenge yet, especially as the more responsible Dawn is already a mother of two.
The dramedy marks Pamela Adlon’s feature directorial debut, and alongside Glazer and Buteau, co-stars John Carroll Lynch, Oliver Platt, Sandra Bernhard, Stephan James, and Hasan Minhaj. Co-writers Glazer and Rabinowitz produced the feature along with Susie Fox, Breean Solberg, and Ashley Fox.

“Saltburn” has screened at this year’s London Film Festival and it looks like writer-director Emerald Fennell has another hit on her hands after the success of her debut, “Promising Young Woman.” That film won her Best Original Screenplay (plus Best Director and Picture nominations) in 2021, but she’s stepped her filmmaking game up a gear with the ambitious “Saltburn.”
The film follows Barry Keoghan as Oliver, an Oxford University student who becomes obsessed with his rich classmate, Felix, played by Jacob Elordi. Oliver stays at the extraordinary manor of Felix’s family, where, without any spoilers, further drama plays out. The film is a funny, witty, knowing examination of the rich upper class and has plenty of touches of darkness, too to flesh out the picture. As a result, “Saltburn” feels like it could be a genuine Academy Awards contender. Here are all the Oscars we think “Saltburn” could be nominated for.

Some people say love is a battlefield, but what if there was a scientific solution to determining your compatibility with your chosen partner? Would the results confirm your evolution from lust to emotional adoration? Could you discover if the person you’re with is better suited for someone else? Some people would prefer to remain in blissful ignorance, but in Apple TV+‘s Fingernails trailer, love gets tested, and the results could destroy even the strongest of bonds.
Christos Nikou directs Fingernails from a script he co-wrote with Stavros Raptis and Sam Steiner. The story focuses on Anna (Jessie Buckley) and Ryan (Jeremy Allen White), a couple who believe they’ve found true love, and a controversial new technology proves it. There’s just one problem. Anna is curious to know if the results are accurate. So, she takes a position at a love testing institute, where she meets Amir (Riz Ahmed), and sparks fly.

Christos Nikou’s “Fingernails” challenges the role of technology in modern love stories, with Jessie Buckley and Riz Ahmed starring as co-workers at a company that specializes in determining people’s soulmates based on their (you’re hearing this right) fingernails. The film first premiered at Telluride.

She starts training with senior instructor Amir (Ahmed), yet Anna is already committed to Ryan (Jeremy Allen White), and the machine has already confirmed they are a perfect match. So why is she developing feelings for Amir?
“Fingernails” is co-written by director Nikou, Stavros Raptis, and Sam Steiner, with Luke Wilson and Annie Murphy also starring.

And the more time she spends around Amir and at the lab, she finds herself asking him, and herself “Is it possible that one person could be in love with two people at the same time?”

Forget reading palms: What if the key to finding your soulmate was at the tip of your fingernail?
Director Christos Nikou’s (“Apples”) feature “Fingernails” offers a sci-fi love triangle rooted in nature over nurture. The film is co-written by Nikou, Stavros Raptis, and Sam Steiner, and is set in an alternate reality where a machine can determine whether a couple is in love or not by studying the makeup of their discarded fingernails.
Jessie Buckley stars as Anna, a new employee at the institute where the machines are housed. She starts training with senior instructor Amir (Riz Ahmed). Yet Anna is already dating Ryan (Jeremy Allen White) and the machine has confirmed they are a perfect match. So why is she developing feelings for Amir?

Actors Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh are teaming up to star in ‘Mayday’, an action adventure film helmed by ‘Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley.
The script was penned by the duo and was completed before the WGA strike that is currently going on in the US, reported the entertainment news magazine Deadline.
While the details for the feature have been almost entirely under wraps, the idea had apparently been germinating prior to Apple’s involvement.
Once Reynolds showed interest in joining the project this April, the development of the project started picking pace.
While the start date is still not determined, it seems very likely that this could be the next thing Reynolds shoots.

It may not be the pairing you’d expect, but Deadline reports that Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh will be teaming up for Mayday, an action-adventure movie set up at Apple Original Films and Skydance.
Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, fresh off Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, are set to direct Mayday based on their original pitch. Beyond the action-adventure vibe, not much is known about Mayday at this time, but the talent involved certainly has my attention. Sources made sure to point out to Deadline that the script was complete well before the WGA strike began. I’m always down for whatever madness Ryan Reynolds is cooking up, and pairing him with Kenneth Branagh feels like a winner.

“If you fail to choose, the world will perish.”
The name of the Knock At The Cabin poster from Universal Pictures, featuring Dave Bautista, Abby Quinn, Rupert Grint and Nikki Amuka-Bird, is titled “4Horsemen” and in an earlier post, we asked the question: Could they be the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse? Death, Famine, War, and Conquest? Each figure on the poster are holding a different “weapon.” In the Book of Revelation, these Four Horsemen represent a vision of harbingers of the Last Judgment, setting a divine end-time upon the world.
The first horseman rides a white horse, carries a bow, and is given a crown as a figure of conquest, perhaps invoking pestilence, Christ, or the Antichrist. The second carries a sword and rides a red horse as the creator of (civil) war, conflict, and strife. The third, a food merchant, rides a black horse symbolizing famine and carries the scales.

Night Shyamalan’s movies tend to be rated “PG-13.” In fact, the only other Shyamalan movie that was rated “R” was The Happening back in 2008, with all other Shyamalan-directed movies being rated “PG-13.” That includes The Sixth Sense, Signs, Unbreakable, The Village, Lady in the Water, Split, The Visit, Glass, and last year’s Old.
Knock at the Cabin has been rated “R” for “Violence and language.”
Universal will release the thriller in theaters on February 3, 2023.
Dave Bautista (Army of the Dead), Rupert Grint (“Servant”) and Nikki Amuka-Bird (Old) star alongside Ben Aldridge (“Pennyworth”) and Jonathan Groff (“Mindhunter”).

A brand new poster is here for M. Night Shyamalan’s new movie Knock At The Cabin.
While vacationing at a remote cabin, a young girl and her parents are taken hostage by four armed strangers who demand that the family make an unthinkable choice to avert the apocalypse. With limited access to the outside world, the family must decide what they believe before all is lost.
Could they be the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse? Death, Famine, War, and Conquest? Each figure on the poster are holding a different “weapon.” In the Book of Revelation, these Four Horsemen represent a vision of harbingers of the Last Judgment, setting a divine end-time upon the world. This wouldn’t be the Oscar winning director first film on faith with religious overtones. Signs was the story of faith and “there are no coincidences,” Wide Awake was a boy on a metaphorical mission to find God,...

The first scene Kristen Bell shot in Claire Scanlon’s new comedy, The People We Hate at the Wedding, is one that more than a few might describe as a bit of a nightmare.
“It was 7 a.m. and they threw me in the Thames River,” Bell explained with a smile on Wednesday night while standing on the red carpet in Westwood, host of the Prime Video premiere. “That river is neither warm nor clean but the minute we were done with that scene, we realized, oh, the rest of the movie is going to be a breeze.”
Call it a reward for a dirty job done early, the rest of Bell’s experience on the film played like a “dream come true.” That was thanks, in large part, to her co-stars. Based on the book by Grant Ginder and penned by writer-producer...
