Gucci is ringing the bells to honor a milestone anniversary for its Chime campaign.
Ten years ago today, on June 1, 2013, the house teamed with Beyoncé and Salma Hayek Pinault to found Gucci Chime, an initiative dedicated to advancing gender equality across the globe. In doing so, Gucci hosted The Sound of Change: Live, a concert at Twickenham Stadium in London that featured Beyoncé, Florence Welch, John Legend, Jennifer Lopez and more. Since then, Chime has raised $21.5 million for the cause, using the funds to impact the lives of 635,000 girls and women globally through more than 500 projects in 92 countries through 185 non-profit partners, per Gucci.
To honor the anniversary, Gucci drafted the talents of Oscar-winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, a Chime advisory board member, to direct a new video series featuring the likes of Annie Lennox, Halle Bailey, Julia Roberts, Idris Elba, Alia Bhatt, Serena Williams, John Legend and Hayek Pinault along with...

Jim LeBrecht isn’t just wearing any ol’ tux to the Oscars. Instead, he’s in a custom-made navy blue Gucci ensemble with a black and ivory flower-print shirt. LeBrecht, the co-director of “Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution” — the Netflix film about a 1970s summer camp for people with disabilities that’s nominated for best documentary — is more of a hippie “blue jeans and t-shirt kind of guy,” he told Variety earlier today from his downtown Los Angeles hotel room, where he was getting ready with his wife Sara Bolder, who is a producer on the film.
LeBrecht not only co-directed the film with Nicole Newnham, but he attended the camp when he was in his teens. He has spina bifida and uses a wheelchair. Before the Oscars, LeBrecht discussed the significance of his Gucci suit for those in the disability community.

Lemonada Media, a just-launched podcast network dedicated to first-person narratives and content that serves to build empathy, made its debut at the second annual NewFronts West gathering in Los Angeles earlier this month to tout one of its flagship new series -- As Me With Sinead.
That series is hosted by Sinead Burke -- an Irish academic and fashion enthusiast who was born with achondroplasia, a genetic disorder that results in dwarfism, and who rose to renown for her Ted talk Why Design Should Include Everyone. In As Me, Burke will sit down with the likes of comedian Tig Notaro, activist DeRay Mckesson, and fellow podcaster Kulap Vilaysack.
“When we talk about our bodies, we are talking about the world in which we exist," Burke said of the crux of As Me, "and whether or not we feel safe or equitable to be in those spaces...So often, we’ve...
